So they invaded earth, and we all died

It's scary how real it felt and the pain when I was eaten felt all too real

Which reminds me of this line Mal said in Inception "Pain is in the mind"

  5. Can we not bump threads now?

    26 July 2011 - 12:54 PM

Hello. I have noticed in two video threads made by two seperate people where the respective users were told by mods to refrain from double posting or bumping threads

    http://forums.minega...post__p__108539

    http://forums.minega...post__p__104649

Now im sure most of you remember very well back in the old minegarde videographers would create one topic for every video they uploaded and this was obviously a mess

Then a user named LeeSiuLoong took Mr Popo's advice to create a single thread and putting all the videos in that thread to eliminate the need to create new threads for posting new videos. This was quite well received by many

The question now is "Is it wrong to bump a thread and/or double post to notify people that new content has been added?"

In the first thread made by iMalefic he bumped the topic to let people know that he has added a new video on the first page. Now the last time he posted in that thread prior to bumping was 2/6/2011 and he bumped the topic on 25/7/2011

The suggestion made by Joker was

If you want people to see a new video you could edit the topic description.

Considering how the there was such a long gap between both his posts (53 days) his topic would already be pushed back to page 3

    http://forums.minega...er__all__st__60

Would you expect people to know that new material has been added in a thread that is already on page 3?

In the 2nd thread made by JRRA bumped a topic just for the sake of bumping without adding any new content. While I understand the reasoning for this, does it also apply to case 1 where iMalefic clearly added a new video and is bumping the thread so people know. He didn't do it for the sake of bumping so what gives

If he's bumping the thread because he adds a new video the thread has changed in terms of relevant content that the thread was originally created to promote.

If you have trouble with that practice it would mean thread changes would be lost on those not expressly following it via bookmark or active searching. I wouldn't have seen it, and I know others wouldn't have either.

So my question still stands "Is it wrong to bump a thread and/or double post to notify people that new content has been added?"

Thank you for reading this and I apologize if my post is incoherent
