Violent Raviente Fight Guide
10 November 2011 - 07:42 AM
Violent Raviente Fight Guide
After playing with some of the newer guild members against Violent Raviente, I’ve noticed that some people may not exactly know how to fight him. He’s different than Red Raviente, and has a lot of unique things specific to him, which makes him a different fight over any other monster in Frontier. This guide will include things like the special items from the Caravan Shop specifically for this fight, to the basic tactic against him, and his various attacks and when you can see them.
This is a guide for Violent Raviente. Experience may differ if you are reading this in reference to Red Raviente.
Purpose:
Hopefully this guide will help everyone be a lot better at fighting Raviente. Use the Tells provided to aptly avoid Raviente’s attacks, and be able to keep a high damage output, as well as making use of the items you can buy and the tactic used to optimize damage.
Joining:
So you want to do Raviente? To join, it's simple:
Go to the Caravan servers 「キャラパン」. A town that has a Raviente posted and waiting to get filled has a small Raviente face at the top left near the Season symbol. If it is blinking, then that Raviente hasn't been started yet. If it's not, then it's started and probably full. If there's nothing, there is no Raviente in that server. DO NOT START YOUR OWN RAVIENTE. The host has to decide a lot of stuff, and you will get PMed a lot of questions which you have no idea how to answer unless you can read and write Japanese.
To join, simply go to the Caravan town, and talk to Kashira 「カシラ」 next to the campfire in the middle of the town (She's holding a giant ball thing). The first option is to join the Raviente that's recruiting. Afterwards, you must wait for the Raviente to fill up (32 people for Violent, 16 for Red).
Once the timer is finished, and the group is filled, the screen will go black for a second then go back to how it was. The timer icon will become a caravan airship icon instead.
Raviente is ready to start! Open the Quest Board (even if nothing is posted) and wait for someone to post a quest, and advertise for what you want (Usually 火事場装備自由PT or just 装備自由PT. The first is Adrenaline Free Equipment PT, the other is just Free Equipment PT). Join them, ready up and wait. Sometimes it takes a while for people to start up, because the host waits for everyone to be ready before anyone goes. This can sometimes annoyingly take a while, so sit tight.
General Idea:
Basically, Violent Raviente is a multi-stage fight. You could compare it to a Raid Boss in many popular MMOs, like WoW, however between each stage you go back to the Caravan town to restock and whatever else.
There’s three major parts of the fight, of each there are three stages, for a total of nine stages. The ninth stage will last until Raviente is dead, the rest are about 3-4 minutes long (I think they end when Raviente hits certain amounts of Health, however the ninth and final stage is usually a little longer than the rest). Each major part takes place in a different area with unique features and specific attacks that Raviente can do in those areas that he may not use in any other.
Starting in Stage 4, there’s special items you can buy from the Caravan Shop to assist you in the battle (The big muscled dude who the camera focuses on at the start of a few of the stages is the Caravan Shop). These are essential if you want to optimize your point rewards. They will be gone over later. There are also items to buy in Stages 1-3, however they are generic items you can get anywhere.
Generic Tactic:
There’s really only one basic Tactic that people tend to follow in 装備自由 groups. About half way through his body is where the Shell skin turns into the Scale skin. This is the place where most groups attack. They go to the Shell skin and attack it until he staggers (Where his head shoots back and then he roars over the map, although it doesn’t cause ear covering). Then they switch to the Scale skin, and repeat. If your group is able to obtain the second stagger, his head will fall over and you will get a good amount of time to attack his head. You do the most damage if you attack his tusks (I will post a damage ratio later).
This is the basic tactic. The idea is to get both staggers before the stage ends. If the stage ends, the staggers reset, so if you only get the Shell one, getting the Scale one later will NOT cause him to fall over unless you also get the Shell stagger again.
Areas:
There are three areas for Raviente.
Basic Area: Stages 1-3; There’s no special features about this area. It’s an open circular field with a very small hill-ish canyon in the middle.
Water Area: Stages 4-6; This area has jets around that shoot you to the other side of the map. Generally useless in my opinion, they tend to just get in the way. On Red Raviente, they shoot you to a special tiny island to heal without worry of Raviente’s attacks, but I didn’t seem to be able to get to this tiny island on Violent Raviente.
Acid Area: Stages 7-9; This area has about 10 pools of acid all around. They are usually empty, however when Raviente digs into the ground they usually fill up with acid. The acid attacks your health very quickly, much faster than Poison. Useful for getting into Adrenaline when you want to, however keep an eye out because you might kill yourself if you’re not paying attention to where they are.
Caravan Shop Items:
There’s a good amount of items buyable over the course of the fight. Their name, availability, cost, and description are below. All items cost CP, instead of Zeny (Much like most Caravan stuff). After even one Raviente, you should have plenty of CP for any items you need from this shop, with a ton to spare. Keep in mind that the prices here are for Violent Raviente, and some of the prices are different for Red Raviente.
JP Name / Cost / Availability / Description
攻撃系統【不利】/ 10CP / Stages 4+ / Unknown. I’ve never been able to buy it.
攻撃系統【有利】/ 10CP / Stages 4+ / Unknown. I’ve never been able to buy it.
通常属性【有利】/ 10CP / Stages 4+ / Unknown. I’ve never been able to buy it.
モドリ玉 / 400CP / All Stages / Farcaster. Price increases to 600CP during Stages 7-9.
応急薬グレート / 200CP / All Stages / Mega First-Aid Med. Price increases to 300CP during Stages 7-9.
携帯食料 / 100CP / All Stages / Ration
携帯砥石 / 100CP / All Stages / Mini-Whetstone
生命の粉塵 / 400CP / Stages 1-8 / Lifepowder
支給専用秘薬 / 800CP / Stages 1-8 / Supply Max Potion
支給用古の秘薬 / 1200CP / Stages 4+ / Supply Ancient Potion
瞬歩の実 / 800CP / Stages 7+ / This item increases your moving speed.
腐食ナイフ / 1000CP / Stages 7+ / This item gives Raviente Defense Down (White Smoke). Possibly only works if it hits his head (That’s usually when I see people use it).
支給用鬼人薬G / 200CP / Stages 7+ / Supply Super Demondrug
支給用硬化薬G / 200CP / Stages 7+ / Supply Super Armordrug
支給用強走薬 / 600CP / Stages 7+ / Supply Power Juice
ネコ気球笛 / 3000CP / Stages 4-6 / Cat Blimp Flute. Usable once, this item summons an Attack Blimp to attack Raviente. It targets the face if it is close enough.
ネコバリスタ / 1000CP / Stages 4-6 / Cat Ballista. Usable once, this item summons a Ballista that is controlled automatically by a cat. It shoots in a half moon rotation. It has pretty low range, so it’s suggested that you use this item close to Raviente.
間欠泉爆弾 / 1000CP / Stages 4-6 / Geyser Bomb. I’m not exactly sure what’s special about this. I don’t buy it anymore because it doesn’t seem to do a lot of damage or have a use other than being free bombs.
地中用音爆弾 / 1000CP / Stages 4-6 / Super Sonic Bomb. This thing is basically a giant sonic bomb. If you use it when Raviente is underground, or performing an attack he starts from underground, before he comes out again he will be forcibly shot out head first, then his head will fall over, giving you free attacks on his head. Using several will increase his knockout time. The best time to use this is the beginning of Stage 4, as he starts in the water. NOTE: I’ve run into groups that do not want this item used. If your leader says 音なし before you leave, or in the invite, or something similar, don’t buy it unless you see the leader of your party use it first.
信号弾 / 1000CP / Stages 4+ / Rock Call. This item shoots off a beacon into the air, and several seconds later there will be a rain of rocks from the sky attacking where Raviente’s head was at the time of the call. If enough hits are put in, you will KO Raviente. The more rocks that hit him means the longer Raviente will be KOed. For this item, it's a good idea to pay attention to situations where his head is still for long periods of time. Using the Rock Call with good timing can result in perfect opportunities to do damage.
強臭玉 / 2000CP / Stages 7+ / Odor Bomb. This item has a specific use. When he starts using his sucking attack (Wind animations will appear over the entire map), you use this item to cancel it. It causes Raviente to fall over. Keep a count on how many of these are used by your group. If four have been used prior to him starting this attack, I suggest you use a Farcaster to leave the area, as this attack is almost guaranteed to kill you.
強化針 / 400CP / Stages 7+ / Power Smoke. You can buy three of these at a time. This item allows you to buff your allies with an attack boost. Using it throws it forward. It is IMPOSSIBLE to buff yourself, so don’t waste them trying. Try to get it to hit multiple allies.
XXナイフ / 10CP / Stages 7+ / Elemental Knives. Replace XX with elemental names. You can buy several of these at once. Honestly, I don’t see the point of these. They don’t seem to do any major damage, and Raviente has no elemental weakness. As far as I can tell, these are a waste of five spots on the item list.
Attacks:
Violent Raviente has a lot of attacks. Some are only in certain areas, and others are common attacks. Below are those that I know of detailed. NOTE: This section is in progress, I may have forgotten about some attacks. If I have, please let me know so that I can update the guide.
Format: Each attack has two parts: A Description, and then a Tell. The description is just that, it details what the attack is and how it will effect you or the battle field. The tell is what you need to look for to determine what Raviente is doing. A lot of his attacks have warnings before they are done, and plenty of time to dodge them. Keep an eye out for what he is doing, and when he does something you'll be able to know what to do so that you don't die.
Common Attacks – These attacks are used in at least two areas (Which or if all three are detailed through the details of the attack).
Unburrow
Description: This is (obviously) a common attack Raviente will use throughout the entire fight. In the early stages he will unburrow on one edge of the level and slowly circle the outer border. In later stages he will start near the center and quickly spiral out. Obviously, this is used in all stages. All three areas begin with him underground; however subsequent stages will have him already out of the ground.
Tell: Raviente will start coming out of the ground.
Roar
Description: Raviente roars over the map. He usually does this the first time right after he unburrows at the beginning, but after that it's random. When he roars, it causes rocks to erupt in set places over the map. Remember locations where they won't spawn and you won't have an issue. Usually the exact middle where the scale becomes shell is a perfect safe spot.
Tell: Moves his head slightly back before roaring.
Snaking
Description: Raviente shifts his head into the ground and begins sliding around the map like a snake. While he is doing this the map will erupt rocks around, exactly like the Roar. When he finishes this move, he will be turned 180 degrees around (So where his head was, his center will be now).
Tell: His head is level and connected to the ground as he starts.
Above Ground Middle Bite
Description: Raviente will shift his head into the middle of the arena and basically cover a line through the middle of the map with his neck + head. This is basically a useless attack. I don't think I've ever seen anyone get hit by this unless they are just coming back from the airship. Outside of that it gives some free damage to his head.
Tell: None, he just launches out slowly.
Tail Swipe
Description: Raviente will swipe his scale half over the entire map, except a small portion near the switch between the scale and shell bodies. This will usually 1-shot you. This is used mostly in Stages 1-3 and 7-9, however he may use it rarely in 4-6.
Tell: Raviente will start sliding his shell hide back and to the right, and if you are at the center facing it, you will see the entire body move about 25ft to the right. Make sure you STAY WITH THE CENTER, as that’s the safe spot.
Ground Bite
Description: Raviente will bite into the ground, spraying rocks over the entire map. In Stages 1-3, he does this once and his face gets stuck in the ground. In Stages 4-9, he uses this three times in a row before getting stuck. If you are near his tail it will hit you as it flails back and forth.
Tell: His body will shift to the left slightly. If you’re watching his head, you will see his head facing directly downwards into the ground, near the middle of the arena.
Ground Smash
Description: Raviente will smash his head into the ground, causing a giant quake over the map. Most Gunners will get 1-shot from this attack, while Bladers can usually use it to get into Adrenaline if desired.
Tell: About 1/5th of Raviente’s body, starting at his head, will rise straight upwards, and then he will smash his face into the ground. Please be aware that this attack is combined with a different one in Stages 4-6, and yet another different attack in 7-9. The tell is the same, however the attack result will be different.
Ember Creating Howl
Description: Raviente will howl. This causes embers to appear on all of his side, then explode starting from either his center or his tail, and going in a circle. After this attack is completed, he then will shoot three fireballs if it is Stages 1-3 or 7-9. The first shot will be next to the center, the second will be to the left with the scales, and the third will be near the tail.
Tell: The howl has a distinctive noise. If your sound is off, you must watch his head, and you will see his throat vibrating as his head is stuck out towards the center. Afterwards, the circle that will explode begins to glow red with embers appearing inside of it.
Flame Aura
Description: The entire map will erupt in a fiery aura that will continually drain health until it disappears. At the beginning, it is also possible for you to be hit in a beginning attack, kind of like an eruption that causes the aura. This is mostly used in Stages 1-3 and 7-9, but has been seen using it in 4-6 rarely.
Tell: Raviente will turn to his right (Your left), and open his mouth wide, then begin to sweep his face over the entire level. Shortly after he begins this his mouth will start to explode, and the aura will appear shortly after.
Flame Pool Eruption
Description: After Raviente burrows, starting from the middle of the map there will be a circle of fire that grows until it erupts. Afterwards (and during it sometimes), the rest of the map will begin to do this as well all over the map.
Tell: After Raviente burrows, the center of the map will begin with a single eruption before it spreads.
Burrow
Description: Raviente will dig into the middle of the map. Near the end, his remaining body will spiral around the map.
Tell: Raviente will make a small howling noise, then begin to burrow.
Overhead Arc
Description: Raviente will unburrow on one side of the map, arc over the center, and burrow on the other side again.
Tell: None, he just does it.
Triple Overhead Arc
Description: Raviente will unburrow on one side, and quickly begin burrowing on the other side, then reemerge on another side, and repeat it twice more.
Tell: It will do this much quicker than the regular arc, but otherwise nothing really indicates this is happening before it does.
Quick Center Bite
Description: Raviente will unburrow only a small portion of his head to sweep over the middle of the level.
Tell: Small quakes in the center before it happens. Just avoid standing in the middle when he burrows.
Paralyze
Description: Raviente will randomly burst paralyze throughout his entire body. If you are close to him you will be paralyzed.
Tell: At the top right of the screen there are some boxes. If there is one that is lit up with a Yellow Raviente head, with a little bolt of electricity above it, that means he may randomly burst with Paralyze. There's nothing you can really do to know when it's going to happen, however you can be aware that it might happen through this notification.
Basic Area Attacks – He really doesn’t do anything special in the basic area. Most of his attacks here are repeated elsewhere.
Water Area Attacks – He does some special attacks here. They are detailed below.
Tail Slam
Description: When Raviente is burrowed, he could unburrow outside of the map, in the middle of the water. He quickly goes back underwater, and springs his tail up into the air. After a few seconds, he slams his tail into the arena, causing the entire arena to erupt in water.
Tell: He unburrows in the distance, in the water.
Tail Water Smack
Description: Raviente will smack his tail into the water, causing balls of water to rain over the map. Shortly after they hit the ground, the map will erupt in water. Even if there is no ball near you, your area will still erupt.
Tell: His tail moves away from the normal location (Under his head), and dips into the water.
Modified Ground Smash
Description: When Raviente does the regular Ground Smash, instead of causing a rock eruption, instead the he will breathe through the ground and erupt water in locations over the map.
Tell: The same as the regular Ground Smash. No way to tell which Ground Smash he will use until he’s used it.
Acid Area Attacks – He uses some special attacks in this area. Most of them are only on Stage 9.
Smokescreen
Description: Raviente will breathe out a white smoke that kills visibility. Usually after this he will perform the Tail Swipe. If not, he will usually do the Ember attack instead.
Tell: None, the map will just start to whiten and visibility will be cut down slowly.
Modified Ground Smash
Description: When Raviente does the regular Ground Smash, instead of causing a rock eruption, instead he will cause acid eruptions all over the map.
Tell: The same as the regular Ground Smash. No way to tell which Ground Smash he will use until he’s used it.
Inhale
Description: Raviente will begin inhaling. After a few seconds of inhaling, he will burst out and create a gigantic tornado over the entire map, killing everyone if he is in rage. To cancel this attack, us a 強臭玉 when he begins inhaling. If your team has used all of them, use a Farcaster to avoid this attack before it goes off.
Tell: The inhale will cause a wind animation to appear over the entire arena.
Fire Boulder Rain
Description: Starting in Stage 9, Raviente will start off the stage in the background mountains. He will roar, and it will cause the entire map to be bombarded by flaming boulders. Afterwards, Raviente will dig out from the center, spiral out, and create tornadoes in several places. To avoid this attack, run all the way to the left or top of the map (According to the minimap) until he unburrows fully.
Tell: The first time this is done, the camera is zoomed to him in the mountains. After that, you will need to keep an eye on the mountains when he burrows.
Head Unburrow
Description: Stage 9 Only. Raviente unburrows only his head and shoots a fireball in front of him. Sometimes instead of shooting a single fireball he will shoot little fireballs over the map around himself, which explode shortly after.
Tell: Outside of the actual unburrowing, nothing.
I feel like I’m missing some of his attacks. If you know of one I forgot, please let me know.
After Victory:
Congratulations! You've beaten Raviente. Now what?
Well, it's simple. Talk to Kashira again, and select the second option to get your rewards. You'll get anywhere between 50-90 Ravi Balls depending on how well your group did, and CP accordingly. Afterwards, talk to the Quest NPC, and choose the second option then take the quest. It's a carving quest. You might want to switch into Gathering Armor before starting this.
You have 3 minutes to gather as much as you can from his body. There's about 7-8 carving spots, each have about 9-10 carves each. It's impossible to get them all. The two main spots (in my opinion) are his face, and the center. From there just run down the scale body until you run out of time.
Damage Charts
Below is a link for the damage charts for Raviente. Note that all elements do the same damage, across the board to all parts of his body, so a specific element doesn't really matter at all.
http://homepage2.nif.../niku/lavie.htm
If you're lazy...basically Damage to the Fang > Head > Neck > Belly > Tail > Back.
When he's not in rage, all elemental damage does 20%. When in rage it's 0%, so don't focus on elements too much.
Everything Else:
So, this stuff seems hard! Why do Raviente at all?
Raviente’s weapons require a lot of grinding, however the result is that you will get the best weapons in the game. Raviente type weapons get the highest raw of any weapon of the same class. As such, if you want the best gear, you need to do a lot of Raviente.
Want another reason? Violent Raviente gives 6,000 HRP/SRP a STAGE, with a result of 54,000 HRP/SRP in a single Raviente. If you want to rank up your HR or SR, there’s no need to Premium spam, just do Raviente.
Keep in mind that Raviente is unavailable during Festival (The Jikkon gathering week only).
Hopefully this guide will help everyone be a lot better at fighting Raviente. Use the Tells provided to aptly avoid Raviente’s attacks, and be able to keep a high damage output, as well as making use of the items you can buy and the tactics to optimize damage.
Good luck hunting! -

Japanese Pages
-------------------------------------------
***These are VERY important to players. Most, if not all, information you cannot find in the above guides are available in the following links. They are up to date unless otherwise specified, and have a plethora of information crucial to players. It is absolutely recommended that you check these pages before asking questions. They are beyond helpful. It is a necessity that you learn how to navigate these sites if you wish to survive playing MHFO JP. It's that simple.
-----
Weekly Quest Rotation: Official Page with the weekly Frontier Quest rotation. Updates every Tuesday (Our time). 1st Tab is the week previous to the date specified, 2nd Tab is the week after the date specified, and the 3rd tab is a preview to the following week (Usually with 4 quest names, and if they are New or not).
Ferias: Ferias is a great tool for a lot of information in FO. As far as I can tell it is updated frequently, and should have up to date information. It's kinda hard to navigate at first.
Ferias Item List: This page is the entire list of items that go into your Item Boxes. It has a search bar so that if you can type even a few characters, you can search for the item you need.
External Program Armor Set Generator: This is a program you download, then enter the armor skills you wish to have in a set, and it will try to create it for you. You can set what pieces/gems not to use, what to use, and set pieces to be required in every set (so for example if you're trying to make a Gou Set, you want to have at least one piece a Gou Armor piece, so you can set that). BEWARE: Sometimes it can give you items that are impossible to get (Like old Box Sets, or Box Sets in general if you never want to buy them, or gems that aren't released yet or gems/pieces no longer obtainable).
Manual Armor Simulator: This is a page with the ability to test armor sets you want to create. You can use it as a manual set tester, or in case you want to verify a set created by the program linked above, you can put it into here.
Damage Calculator: This is a page with a damage calculator. It's kind of confusing, may be hard to operate without knowing Japanese. Possibly outdated, it's an old bookmark of mine in my FO bookmarks.
Season Meals: This page has a reference to every meal combination possible, and their varied effects throughout the three seasons. You can choose the season at the top, to get the correct name, it's at the top left near the clock in the game.
MHF Wiki: A MHFO Wiki. It's outdated in some places but I've found it easier to navigate over Ferias. Better for beginners in my opinion, but when you want current information you're best off using Ferias. -
Unknown Guide

What is an Unknown?
There is a chance, if you post/join an HR 31 - HR 100 invadable quest, an Unknown will show up. The unknown will replace the original monster during that quest. Hr 31+ will be Repel only while HR 100 will be Slay only (damage and tail subs).
How do I fight an Unknown?
Right now, the only Unknown monster is just Black Rathian and no other mentions about any other Unknown monster yet. To encounter an Unknown, do a non-gathering quest (kill xxx small monsters or hunt large monsters works). If an unknown shows up, all of your Party members will start in the BaseCamp, not being to move for a while until the Unknown animation is over (clawing the monster's icon).
Tips of finding an Unknown?
I would suggest collecting 99 Gook Junks and exchanging it for a Gook charm for the poster. I must say it really works. I went from 0 Unknown sightings for 2 months to about 10 Unknown sightings for 2 weeks! Here is the Gook Guide: http://forums.minega...the-gook-guide/
Also the lucky number is 3 to encounter Black Rathians (9 works as well).
Here are some theories I have came up with while hunting for the Unknown:
-Unknown does not show up in Low Rank, SP/Gou ticket, Gou, HC, Festival, Event, Map, Gathering, Exercise, Caravan quests.
-Unknown is Season and Map Specific (you need to be in the correct season and map area to find it).
-3rd time is a charm, well most of the time. The poster needs to clear one Invadable quest first, then the next invadable ones will have a possible black rathian invasion on them. Most of the Unknown encounters goes like this: Invadable Quest > Invadable Quest (Possible Unknown Invasion) > Invadable Quest (Possible Unknown Invasion)... There are other times that she can invade in different counts, like 2 or 4 or even 9 or so, but 3 is the most common. Unconfirmed chance for Unknown per relog, ???%.
-The poster needs to relog to reset the quest count to 0.
-You do not need to Fully clear quests and Sub Runs do work to find an Unknown.
-Unknown all depends on the poster (with Gook Charm preferably).
-It might be time specific (occurs more in certain time of each hour).
---------------------------------------
Unknown Black Rathian
---------------------------------------
Areas Sighted (Season): Desert (Cold), Jungle (Warm), Sea of Trees (Warm), Forest & Hills (Warm), Gorge (Warm)
Resistances: http://homepage2.nif...iku/unknown.htm
Carves: http://homepage2.nif...agi/unknown.htm

She is a beast! She has a ton of different moves that varies as she gets raged more. She screams and her appearance changes up to 5 times. Here are her move set on her 6 modes.
-----------------
Non-raged Mode:
1. Bite - Normal bite attack. Move Origin: A lot.
2. Charge - She charges towards the hunter. She falls down if she charges far enough. She can cancel this charge to connect a different attack, occurs more often as she is more raged. Move Origin: A lot.
3. Fireball - She will raise her head a bit then shoot 1 fireball in front of her. Move Origin: Rathian, Rathalos, Yian Garuga.
4. Triple Fireball - She will raise her head a bit then shoot 3 fireballs in front of her, Left > Middle > Right. Move Origin: Rathian, Yian Garuga.
5. Tail Spin - Her tailspin is like Beru's or Dora's, or HC Los and Ian. She spins her tail 3 times in a 180 degree angle. The normal pattern is either Left>Right>Right or Right>Left>Left. Move Origin: A lot.
6. Backflip - She will walk back a bit and perform a poisonous backflip. Her landing will cause damage as well. Move Origin: Rathian, Yian Garuga.
7. Hipcheck - She will fall back and pause for a moment then ram you with her hip. Move Origin: Dhuragaua.
-----------------
1st Rage Mode
Rathian will Scream (High Grade Earplugs) for the 1st time to indicate this. Some black smoke will be seen coming out of her mouth.
1. Fire Beam - She shoots a long fire beam that is like the Gravios' attack. This attack comes with little warning. This move does a huge amount of damage and might K.O an unprepared hunter. To dodge this you need to stay on the right or left, or behind the monster. Move Origin: Gravios, Gurenzeburu.
2. 360 Degree Fireball > LandingBody Slam - She flies into the air, and then shoots 5 fireballs around her (1 below her, and 4 while spinning around) in a counter clockwise spin. The fireball will leave a blue flame on the ground for a while that can damage the hunter. To dodge this you need to quickly move/dodge from the front since the fireballs don't shoot too far. She will then finish it off with a body slam from the air like that by a flying Guren. Move Origin: HC Yian Garuga but with a spin and more fireballs, Gurenzeburu body slam.
3. Body Slam - She slams her body and her tail to the ground like Guren. It has a small quake effect. Move Origin: Gurenzeburu.
4. White Gas - This attack is like the Guren's or Gravios' gas, but this one lowers the hunter's defense with a small damage dealt while getting blown away. The rathian subspecies' gas takes longer then gravios', however. Move Origin: Gurenzeburu, Gravios.
5. Standing Triple Fireball - She will raise her body and wings, then shoots 3 fireballs from her mouth to the ground like an Espinas (shooting its fireballs to the left > right > middle). The fireball will leave a blue flame on the ground for a while that can damage the hunter. Damage is the same as with the normal Fireball move. Move Origin: Espinas.
6. Flying Backstep - She will fall back with a high wind press effect, like that of a normal Rathian. Move Origin: Rathian.
-----------------
2nd Rage Mode
=>Rathian will Scream (High Grade Earplugs) a 2nd time to indicate this. You can see a small amount of fire along with the smoke coming from her mouth. She will have a significant increase of speed as well.
1. Tail Whip - She swings her tail to the right and then to the left. To dodge this go under her or run away immediately. She only does this move if you are behind her. Move Origin: Diablos, Monoblos, Gravios, Basarios, HC Pink Rathian.
2. Sidestep - This sidestep is similar to that of a Hypnock, jumping to its side to reposition herself. Move Origin: Hypnock.
3. 180 Degree Bite - She will bite you with a 180 degree turn, then follow it with a 180 degree tail spin in a bit. Move Origin: Gurenzeburu.
4. Quick Turn - The Rathian will turn smoothly facing its left or right. Move Origin: Pearl Espinas.
-----------------
3rd Rage Mode
=>Rathian will Scream (Ultra Grade Earplugs) a 3rd time to indicate this. You will see more of a puffing blue and red flame from her mouth this time. If you are fighting a repel-only quest, the Rathian will run away at this time.
1. Barb Throw - She flies and throws barbs from her wing, similar to the nargacuga, but only from her wings. To dodge this, go to her sides or go behind her. Does a large amount of damage and sometimes lowers the hunter's defense. Move Origin: Berukyurosu.
2. Explosive Bite - The rathian bites the hunter with an explosive fire effect. Its tail does damage as well while she is biting. This replaces her normal bite attack. Move Origin: Rathian, Rathalos, a lot others.
3. Standing Triple Fireball Fallback - Like the earlier Standing Triple Fireball, she will end this move with a flying backstep from her last fireball. This replaces her normal Standing Triple Fireball attack. Move Origin: Espinas.
4. Sweeping Fire Beam - Like the fire beam earlier but with a sweeping motion from her left to her right (our right to left when facing her). This replaces her normal beam attack. Move Origin: Gravios, Gurenzeburu.
-----------------
4th Rage Mode
=>Rathian will Scream (Ultra Grade Earplugs) a 4th time to indicate this. You will see that her eyes are more bright red this time, with a recognizable laser looking effect when she moves her face. Most elemental attacks will do no damage to her by now. This is also when she starts "connecting" her attacks with combos while increasing her speed as well.
1. Rock Throw > BackFlip > Vertical Launch - She will fly and land by the hunter (with a small quake effect), then grab a large rock from the ground with her legs, then backflip to toss the large rock with the hunter on it, sending the hunter flying upwards. After this, if the hunter is caught in midair, she flies straight up to damage the hunter a second time. She then flies back down normally. Otherwise, she will not fly up if she cannot "juggle" the hunter. This deals a large amount of damage to the hunter it tosses into the air, hence being her strongest attack. Move Origin: Doragyurosu, Rathian.
2. Body Slam > Back Flip - After a trembling body slam, she will follow it up with a poisonous back flip. Move Origin: Rathian, Yian Garuga, Gurenzeburu.
3. 180 Degree Bite > Back Flip - After a 180 degree bite with tail spin, she will follow it up with a poisonous back flip. Move Origin: Rathian, Yian Garuga, Gurenzeburu.
4. Landing Body Slam - She will fly and just land with a normal body slam with a small quake effect. Move Origin: Gurenzeburu.
5. Fireball Flying Backstep - She will fall back from a fireball to the ground with a high wind press effect, like that of a normal Rathalos. Move Origin: Rathalos.
6. 360 Degree Fireball > Claw Attack - She flies into the air, to shoot her 360 Degree Fireball attack but ends it with a Rathalos claw attack (which deals Poison and Faint status, locking on a hunter) instead of a Body Slam afterwards. Move Origin: HC Yian Garuga, Rathalos.
-----------------
5th Rage Mode
=>Rathian will Scream (Ultra Grade Earplugs) a 5th time to indicate this. She will be immune to all status/KO effects by now and will indicate that she is past half health (according to the quest Damage Target). Her red eyes will leave more of an effect upon movement and her wings will light up red as well.
1. Fireball Wind Blast - Rathian will flap her wings and will be launched straight up by shooting a typhoon looking fire attack to the ground. This attack will also have a Dragon Wind Breaker effect and launching the hunter if hit. Move Origin: Gurenzeburu.
2. Standing Triple Fireball Fallback Blast - Like the earlier Standing Triple Fireball Fallback attack, her 3rd fireball will be an attack like that with a Fireball Wind Blast attack, with a Dragon Wind Breaker effect and launching the hunter if hit. Move Origin: Espinas, Rathalos.
3. Fireball Flying Backstep > Back Flip - Rathian shoots a fireball to the ground and follow it up with a poisonous backflip attack after landing, causing an explosion with the leftover flame on the ground . Can be started from a cancelled Charge attack. Move Origin: Rathian, Yian Garuga, Rathalos.
4. Sidestep > Triple Fireball - Rathian will sidestep to its side and will follow it up with a triple fireball. Can be started from a cancelled Charge attack. Move Origin: Rathian, Yian Garuga, Hypnock.
5. Overhead Inferno Fireball > Landing Body Slam Blast - She will fly and move above the hunter and shoot a fire blast directly from above to leave a circular flaming inferno, smaller and lasts just a bit than that of Pearl Espinas. She will then land with a body slam in the middle of it, causing 4 fire explosions around the inferno all at once. Move Origin: Pearl Espinas, Gurenzeburu.

Future Unknown Monsters?
--------------------------------------------
There is already a Red Rajang in the Volcano (which does not really count as an Unknown monster? It is a low % upon posting an HR 100 HC Rajang in the Volcano. There was a public version just before F2 for HR 999 hunters only in the Great Water Arena). If there will be more, I will update this thread some more~ Swamp, Highland, Tide Island, and Snow Mountains needs some invading =p -
Style Rank Guide

Credit goes to Shizuka
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Once you reach HR 499 or above, you will be able to gain the Book of Secrets from the bottom right corner of your screen. There are Red, Blue, and Yellow books that will depend on the poster and the monster type (brute, crustaceans, piscines, bird wyverns, flying wyverns, or elder dragons) you are hunting. (e.g. Rathalos that you posted gave you Red books, therefore all Flying Wyverns that you post will yield Red books).

SR Weapon Tickets
What are they?
How do I get them?
Do HC quests with your SR weapon.
What are they for?
HC weapons and SR armors...
.........................
HC Weapons? WTF are they???
Blademaster: Sharpness boost
Gunner: +40% Critical bonus
-------------------
SR Armors:
-------------------
These are basically "end-game" armors for each weapon type since they take foreverrrrr to farm~ w
SR Tickets required to (Create Base + Upgrade to F + Upgrade to FX + Max FX):
HR 1~30 SR tix: 20 + 65 + 0 + 0 = 85
HR 31~99 SR tix: 15 + 45 + 135 + 0 = 195
HR 100 SR tix: 10 + 5 + 95 + 165 = 275
HR 100 SR Gou tix: 5 + 0 + 5 + 75 = 85
Thus, if you set goals: (HR 1~30 tix / HR 31~99 tix / HR 100 tix / HR 100 Gou tix)
To make the base for one piece: 20 / 15 / 10 / 5 => 50
To get one piece to F series: 85 / 60 / 20 / 5 => 170
To get one piece to FX series: 85 / 195 / 110 / 10 => 400
To get one piece to max FX series: 85 / 195 / 275 / 85 => 640
Multiply that by 5 for all 5 maxed FX armor pieces:
HR 1~30 SR tix: 425!
HR 31~99 SR tix: 975!
HR 100 SR mob tix: 1375!
HR 100 SR gou tix: 425!
Total SR tickets to be farmed for maxed FX series: 3,200!

Here is the official source of info for them: http://members.mh-fr...lxrx/index.html
