About items:
Easiest way to get honey for making mega potion:
Play free roam offline, change the bags (especially: glittering scale) you got of the village son as rewards with the samurai trader offline for Pointed Fangs. Go online to the trader fisherwoman and trade 1 Pointed Fang for 5 honey.
Honey can also be Farmed as from level 3 Farm.
Easiest way to get spiderwebs (for making traps):
Go for some Monster Fluids hunt and trade 1 monster fluid online with the fisherwoman for 5 spiderwebs.
Heavy / Red armor sphere can ONLY be gotten as rewards in quests. They cannot be mined!
Scatterfish can be gotten pretty easy in 2 places:
Online: Mine Machalite Ore, Go to the fish lady online; trade 2 machalite ore for 2 scatterfish.
Offline: Send boats to Moga Shallows with Fish Finder.
PowerCharm and ArmorCharm can be bought online, but better off trading for free, for skulls with the offline samurai trader! Both these items needs to be carried in inventory for DEF and POW up.
PowerCharm and ArmorCharm can be upgraded (combine them with Deviljho Talon) to PowerTalon and ArmorTalon. These also be carried in inventory for even more DEF and POW up.
Armor stone is an ore which only comes as reward in certain (random) quests. This stone can be mixed to get an armor sphere. (not 'heavy' red armor spheres!)
Easy way to get Monster Fluid:
Play quest offline or online to kill Altaroth bring only Poison smoke bombs and poison them, to carve them for Monster Fluids.
Easy way to get Monster Broth (and Fluid):
Play quest online to kill Bnahabra bring only Poison smoke bombs and poison them, to carve them for Monster Broth. Monster Fluids can be gotten from the sub B quest killing Altaroth. Make the Bnahabra come closer, with a torch.
Dragonbone Relic:
There are only 2 ways of getting Dragonbone Relic.
Method one is using eat skill: Felyne Explorer and goto tundra stage, while on a hunting quest, so no gather quest, only higher Level (HR31+) Gather the bones on the secret area for relics.
Second is after Devilhjo breaks the trees in area 1 of tundra. It at the end of his nest. See video of bobofango: http://www.youtube.c.../24/REJbRdIK7V8
Carving faster:
You can carve faster if you crouch before carving.
Dung bombs thrown on a monster can drive them away to another stage. Dung bombs not work on all monsters. If thrown, DON'T HIT that monster anymore to let him leave.
When an enemy pin you on the ground... a pink colour bar appear near the bottom of the screen, you can get out only by using dung Bombs. (or your team player can use it on the enemy.)
Another way to get out the pinned situation is move left analog stick very fast from left to right.
Fairly easy way to get cheap items online when Jien Moran (Sandstorm) is up:
The guy in the hall sells good stuff for 50%.
The fisherboy sells Thunderbugs then for 350z a piece and loads of fish for 50%.
Double BBQ:
The yellow BBQ spit can cook 2 meat at a time, start cooking while holding R trigger, and hold the R trigger. The yellow spit can be gotten as trade item from the offline samurai trader.
About weapons:
About new weapons in US / PAL Monster Hunter 3:
Tessaiga LS is replaced with Tenebra LS
Pirate J Axe SA is replaced with Sinister Saints SA
True Cutter Sword GS is replaced with Lion's Bane GS
Lightning Works LS is replaced with Rising Soul LS (Same look, other color)
Brainfox Lance is replaced with Baltzenger Lance (Same look, other color)
Bowgun
When shooting a Bowgun, Crag shots to the head can eventually stun a monster for a few seconds.
Sword and Shield
If you use SnS you can use items with your weapon drawn by pressing Y button when guarding. so Hold R to guard, select item to use, and press Y.
Lance
Running Attack with Lance is done with Classic Controller by pressing the '+' button.

Kelbi
Easy way to get Kelbi horns is to stun a Kelbi, by using Sword n Shield, using the shield attack. If they are stunned they can be carved.
With Greatsword they can also be stunned by using the sideway attack, after an overhead.
Albatrion / Alatreon cannot be trapped in electric or pitfall traps! He is very vulnerable for Paralysis weapons.
Albatrion / Alatreon can be trapped with his horns in 2 walls on the left and right side of his stage. He can only be trapped there if he still has horns, or untill that wall breaks.
Changaburu / Gobul can be trapped with sonic bombs when he’s under the sand, as well on land or in water.
Changaburu / Gobul can be fished with frog bait to fight him on land. Frog bait is always available in flooded forest at the end of area 2 when going in direction of area 4. Its at the end on the left side in a gather spot. Fish gobul at the fishing spot in area 4.
Ibirujo / Deviljho can come in random at almost every level you play as of HR31+ quests.
Ibirujo / Deviljho Spawns 2x in the [advanced] kill 25 jagia 4 star quest.
Navaldeus / Ceadeus damage is saved what you did on him in case you run out of time. If you start him the second time, there is actually a shortcut at the start of the stage to go to area 2.
Jien Moran / Jhen Mohran can be carved several times from his body, but also some carves from his mouth as extra.
Jien Moran / Jhen Mohran When Jien Moran is on his side, you can walk into his mouth and carve his tongue. (In 2nd part of quest, can be done only once!)
Jien Moran / Jhen Mohran After Jhen rushes the ship from the front (where you can use a dragonator), he will appear at the right side again. Once you see his tusk pop out, run out to the right to instantly get on his back.
Jien Moran / Jhen Mohran can be pickaxed on, make sure to bring them.
Kurupecco / Qurupeco can summon enemies, one of them is actually Ibirujo. (only at HR31+ quests)
Diablos, after he is pittfal trapped, he flies 1 second in air, where it can imediately be flash bombed.
Beriorosu / Barioth, after he is pitfall trapped, he flies 1 second in air, where can can imediately can be flash bombed.
Beriorosu / Barioth, if you break his wings (wingtips) he can't get good grip anymore on the ice and will be slowed down, so he can be beaten more easily.
Rathian / Rathalos, when fighting one of them in Moga forest stage, in area 8 they can be lured by getting a wyvern egg and carry it around.
Enemy shiny drops:
Great Jaggi: Sometimes drops when retreating.
Qurepeco: sometimes drops when inflicted lots of damage, he tries to retreat walking.
R. Ludroth: Break his mane.
Barroth: I think when you break off his mud.
Great Baggi: Break head crest.
Gigginox: Break stomach.
Rathian: when she's eating it drops next to the enemy
Rathalos: when he's eating it drops next to the enemy
Diablos: get his horns stuck in a wall/anthill
Barioth: when she's eating it drops at the enemy
Gobul: Fish out with frog, its at the landing spot of Gobul.
Lagiacrus: Throw sonic bomb when not in rage
Agnaktor: Throw sonic bomb when not in rage and under ground
Uragaan: Inflicht a lot of damage after another.
Deviljho: when he's eating it drops next to the enemy AND after he breaks the trees in Tundra.

Upgrading lower rank armors
Lower rank armors can be upgraded, which I like to call 'enhanced' to get the same DEF per piece as the High rank armor of that equivalent. Although beware the lower rank enhanced armor will keep the same skills as the lower rank armor, where Higher rank armors have different kind of skills as their lower rank counterpart.
An example of enhancement: using blue, green, orange spheres till Lv6, then using high Rank materials to 'Enhance' then use puple and red spheres to max, to get the max of DEF (same as the high part)
Awaken skill:
To get an attribute on a weapon without an attribute, Awaken skill is required. this skill is on Lagiacrus+ and Alatreon's armor.
Trapmaster skill:
Makes you place traps AND bombs faster.
Constitution skill:
Stamina usage is lessened even more when rolling, backhopping and sidestepping. Also called Defensive Maneuvers.
G armors / + Armors:
As from HR31 online you can get G armors (now called + armors), which require + items, which HR31+ enemies give.
Training / Challenge mode:
Getting offline Arena coins in your box:
To get your offline Arena rewards, you need to talk to your cat offline (in your savehouse) and import your Arena data. It won't update your inventory until you do.
Pinnacle Coin:
This coin can be obtained by playing online single enemy challenges / training (for example: Qurupecco), at random reward.
Hunter King Coin:
This coin can be obtained by playing online HR31 multi enemy challenges / training (for example: Gobul & Lagia), at random reward.
Open more arena quests offline:
To open up more arena quests, you will have to complete the capture quests for certain monsters in the main game offline. When there are 3 arena slots left, you will have to complete the other arena quests to open up the rest.
Tips:
Special sound when carving to find a specific item
At weapon smith when you see a specific item for making weapon/armor you can set it into your book by using wiimote, hold B button, aim into item you need and press and hold A button, drag cursor to right down book. now item in in your book, on page 1. If you carve this item you will hear a special sound!! (this is not for rewards)
Set monster info in your book/hunter's notes
To set monster info [information, number of kills and number of captured] in your book, do this per monster only once by: in level open inventory by pressing '-', goto 'Notes' (book) get wiimote, hold B button, aim on a monster, press and hold A, drag cursor to lower right screen and release A, to hear a sound for setting it in your book. Open your book, goto 2nd paragraph and see the monsters info.
Skip end movie at every quest
When a quest is ended, a small end movie is given, you can skip this by pressing + button, to run to the enemy for carves.

To skip end movie and start movie with the wii remote, press -.
Problems reading font in game
Go to the game options, switch the screen ratio 4:6, this will have a better time for your eyes....

Skip start movies at Jien Moran and Albatrion / Alatreaon, by pressing '+' (start).
Seeing stars (using classic controller)
When you see stars, quickly press all buttons more times, and move the left analog stick. Keep moving and pressing everything, till stars are gone. The button bashing is a way to make the stars faster dissapear.
Seeing stars (using wiimote)
When you see stars, you just have to move your wiimote really fast, to let go the stars faster.
Try Bring always Max Potions, in case you die or in case you forgot to eat, you can max your Health Bar at start again.
Try always bring Lifepowder with you online to heal other players while they are in trouble.
You can use the Wii remote pointer to view details!
This includes skill descriptions. It doesn't matter what control scheme you are using, you can still use the pointer to see detailed information. With CC setups, hold the B button on the remote, with Nunchuck setup hold the Z trigger while in menus.
There is no gather quest specific for volcano. Easy way to gather in volcano is do the kill Uroktor quest.
Fireblight on your character
Fireblight comes of your character when you roll, 3-4 times, but a faster removing fireblight is rolling through a water source.
Player Status indicators:
Dragon status - All hits are negative Critical.
Water (also from mud and snow) - Stamina regens at 1/2 speed.
Fire - Your health slowly decreases over time.
Thunder - You get stunned/dizzy easier.
Ice (from the snow and ice attacks)- Stamina consumption is doubled.
Increasing resistance / removing blight:
You can eat the berries/seeds of the respective element to remove blight and increase resistance.
Fire --> firedouse berry
water --> waterblock seed
ice --> thaw pellet
thunder --> stormsender seed
dragon --> dragonfell berry
Online tips:
Online: speak to one specific player only in lobby
When typing press the zr button to select personal message to a specific player. they receive it whether on a mission or not. works from mission to lobby too. Tab button on keyboard has same effect.
When a certain online quest is not up at that moment, you can try to make a quick gather quest and Cancel it, hoping it will be up next round. (some quest random appear online)
When you are online and time started for event quests and they are not up, can try to make a quick gather quest and Cancel it, to let the events appear when you return in lobby. (Explanation: you possibly where in lobby before the time the events started)
Online savehouses:
There are 3 different online savehouses for you as a player. You open the second and the third when you HR up. I believe HR18 opens the second one. HR40 opens the third savehouse. You can choose at the left of the online lobby which room you want to have. You can invite other players in your house, or just lock it.
Decoration Cat:
Online there is a Cat which can make decorations for your online and offline house. These decorations require materials to make. There is no FAQ how to make a certain decoration, it's trying!
Eating table online:
In lobby online at the left table, it is possible to give other players food by sitting only at the right upper place on this table. You need meal tickets for it. Choose the 2nd option (host a meal) then the food and felyne skills you want to eat. The other players on the table need to choose the 2nd option (mooch a meal) and wait for you to give them food.
Yellow name online:
You get a yellow name online when you reach HR31. (higher rank)
Red name online:
You get a red name online when you reach HR999 (max hunter rank!)
Online quest KILL or CAPTURE:
when an online quest is created you can easily see at the player who has created it whether its Kill: Red quest sign above his head, or Capture: Grey sign above his head
