But one thing that bothers me is that most of the time, me and the people I play with spam flash+traps most of the time.
This isn't a problem since it gets the job done, but im curious as to how you hunt monsters in a group.
Share your ideas please

Anyway, when I get together with the people I usually play with on kai, it's often normal no-flash-and-trap runs. On occasion though, we do various challenges such as:
- no weapon sheathing
- Pogi (handsome) sets only
- One monster - one weapon type
- Starter weapons only
Etc. Anything we can think of to make the run more difficult and/or funny.
On occasion, we do "speed runs" with traps allowed, still no flashes.

HOWEVER, maybe in a group it'd be different. For one, I'm not too bad at using Hunting Horns, so I might lug that along. Also, presumably there would be a lot of offensive juggernauts running hammer and GS. So I might pull an LBG with Sleep S to let that King Attilart Sword land a +3 on the weak.

The one that determines how fast and fun the hunt is the group coordination, not just with their equipments.

They couldn't aim flash bombs for the life of them, so whenever a flash was absolutely needed (like on akantor opening charge) I would be the flasher.
I only used my traps for capturing, and lifepowders when multiple partners and or myself were low health.

Then we begin the flashing phase. We flash it, we then start to shadowbox its legs, repeat until the flash supplies are gone and then we use all of our smoke bombs to cover the whole area.
After the humiliation phase is over, we fight the monster. The humiliation weigh heavily on the monster's morale through the entire fight, resulting in a decrease in its morale which then reduces its will to live therefor reducing the amount of very potent attack the monster might be carrying in its arsenal.
This technique is quite useful for the likes of Plessy or even Black Gravios. For it neutralizes the hipchecks and laser spam as well as increasing the drop rates for wyvern sobs or tears.

That said, I normally would stick to dealing elemental damage while using items to support the group. I fancied myself good with the SnS in Tri.

I try to make sure nobody dies in the quest.
I haven't played online in a long time, but the last things I did was teaching new hunters some basics.
I remember helping BizzarreCoyote to kill many Tigrex back then. (don't say)
So yeah I play the most only to teach hunter how to hunt properly.

Usually there's one guy who doesnt attack with a HH and Wide Area +2 and all other health and boost items so it's helpful. The same guy has traps and flash so he can use it when we need it. Like when we're using whetstone in front of a tigrex, he'll flash and we'll get doing. Playing in multiplayer is real fun if you actually came up with real strategies to tackle the certain problems in quests.

Anywho, I've actually gotten the hang of blocking fireballs and the like for Gunners, saving them from an especially messy end. I've also gotten into lancing, thanks to Tri, though I still habitually press Triangle+Forward occasionally, causing me to guard poke and get wrecked like the n00b I am. I'm getting better though.

I pay attention to who/how I attack so I won't end up knocking away my team mates. But...I usually end up at the end of EVERYONE ELSES' attacks...because they act like I'm not even there
I use lifepowders sparringly on my team mates.
When everyone goes; "Gj" or "gg" or "good hunt" etc, at the end of every hunt, I usualy just sit there quietly..
I tend to want to be one of the main attackers of the group.
Hardly plays support role as I do not like Hunting Horns. I'll use them its just I don't like them.
Doesn't mess with armor/demon flutes.
When people wanna capture a monster, I race them to see if I can kill it before they can capture it. I just like killing...Its showing mercy on monsters to capture them which i refuse to show.
...at least until CAPCOM releases another MH game...
