It's to do with a Californian church threatening to burn a Quran to send a message to Fundamentalist muslims in Afghanistan.
So, I heard you like Swampertz? Why yes, yes I do.

I'm tempted to close this as Mel didn't really try to set the topic up for a real discussion.
Simply saying discuss at the start of the thread doesn't lead to any real conversations.
There's also the fact that that most responses have been once sentence,
but then again I guess this has done well for being in RM.

Good for you people.

My thoughts are its typical American redneck crap that's been given too much attention.
He's like Freddy Kruger people, if you don't think about him he looses his power!

Not that simple here, Dtier. There are so many of those rednecks (or as I call them, the blindly loyal cause it's not just rednecks) that if everyone who you told, I told, and everyone else on this forum told to ignore them so they lose power and those told listened, the blindly loyal will still have the majority of the population.

Btw, don't pin that crap on California. The west coast is not part of Jesusland.

I don't know what to think of. I would rage, but it's pointless. It will be an issue for a while and then die off soon enough.
It's sad that they portray Muslims as terrorists. We're like a big family, and in a family there is a black sheep.

Not evilness. Stupidity. The Quran's teachings didn't include burning bibles, being terrorists.

@Halycon: Sorry, I'll try to set up a better one the next time I start a topic :(

As for my own personal opinion regarding this topic, I just can't believe the guy is so ignorant and stupid enough not to think this through. He's either being overly idealistic, or is just plain stupid. His decision to burn the Koran books is far from being rational, let alone logical (but it may be reasonable...to some extent).

Burning the Koran isn't going to solve anything, as such is the use of violence. It'll just make things worse. By burning the Koran, the guy is provoking Muslim terrorist groups for another attack.

Not to mention that the guy's responses to his interview were.......stupid.

...is a very stupid thing to do; can't agree more with you guys. He's just giving more reason for the radical extremist terrorists who proclaim themselves as Muslims fighting a Jihad to cause even more trouble. And then war will wage between the stupid people proclaiming themselves Muslims, and the stupid people proclaiming themselves extremist Christians. This is... just plain wrong. No offense, but this action is really mindless and given no proper thought. What it does is simply embarrass both religions even further in the eyes of the world. What they're doing right now is wrong, even by the standards of their own teachings.

I;m not sure if I am over-thinking this, but It may be possible he is trying to trigger a war. A reason to wipe out the Muslims. It maybe be radical and seemly impossible or retarded, but I am taking this seriously. This guy may just be a small cover for something bigger.

The sudden push of this "burning Quran" event and doing it such as on purpose and it seems there is something more. I don't know what it is, but I hope is nothing or not something that is gonna screw this world.

I was being sarcastic. Basically, it's a case of "If I do it to you I'm a good guy, but if you do it to me you're a bad guy." And I absolutely hate that kind of blind stupidity.

I thought the topic title at a glance was "International Burn A Korean Day".

Regardless, both idea are worthless. This isn't even considered a divisive issue, rather it's the attention they are given that brings the nuts to the front lines.
