deaddays started a similar thread about his Tri Protector game here - http://forums.minega...-to-play-mhtri/ and I don't want to take away from that thread, but this one is meant to be more general.
Also, this is somewhat inspired by a thread on the Unite Boards started by dh9n here - http://forums.minega...er-starbreaker/ where he suggested:

There will be a head(s)-to-head(s), carry-the-egg (like capture the flag, but you have to bring the egg back to base), deathmatches and etc. I was thinking of this if players want to take a rest from hunting.
In that thread I came up with my take on another way to implement competitive play as follows:

Was thinking about this sort of stuff for Tri with its ease of online play. One easy way for them to implement a competitive aspect would be to keep score during a quest. For the most part, I think this would work just as well in Unite. Points awarded for:
- most damage done to the monster by a player
- fewest items used(efficiency?)
- first blood (small bonus for first to find the monster/score a hit)
- successful trapping/dragonating
- most party buff's/healing given (wide area, hunting horn, and BGuns get an advantage there)
- longest time spent 'spotted' by the monster (meaning who was in the fight longest)
- completing subquests(Tri).
You would lose points for things like:
- fainting
- sloppy bombing (hurting yourself or others)
- Excessive upswings/tripping of other players
- wasted traps or bombs
At the end of the quest the point totals could be applied as some sort of multiplier to the Zeni and Guild point rewards (or HR points in Tri). In some ways this would make it more difficult for a low level player to leech off of a higher HR character. Perhaps the biggest benefit to players would be that it trains you how to play the game better. The benefit for Capcom is they wouldn't have to re-calculate PvP damage/armor/status effects. Maybe you would earn new titles for conistently scoring high in certain categories. Just a thought I had.

Please discuss these ideas or any of your own!
