I used to freeze whenever public attention got diverted to me. I'm better now, thanks to some forced training from the teachers though.

I actually made a speech for about 60-65 fresh grade 7 students in occasion of their student orientation program, as a part of the student council in charge, about respect. I was so nervous my sweat drops felt as cold as tiny icicles. Furthermore, the topic itself is kinda' touchy, it's about convincing people on their mental side of things and thus not so easy to deliver, different from how an informative presentation about a particular chapter in a science subject would go. I had to pray a lot. It didn't go so smooth, but at least it worked.. sort of. In the end, I turned out to like presentations and public speaking though I always freeze cold in stage moments before.

I think it's good for you, as you get to learn & develop some important skills. Like people skills, leadership skills, linguistic skills, argumentative skills, and most importantly confidence. Of course, those stuff don't come in a flash right after your first speech. But it's a good place to start; you'll just get better and better. I mean, everyone does start from the very bottom, right?
