A SPEAR.

its bassicaly a lance them size of a greatsword, but then with much more fluent moves.
Like DS, but then with the ability to block, like an S&S, and a special attack In which the hunter trowhs it like a boomerang.

...I honestly didnt gave it much thought. :3

Remove block, give it the ability to ko damage if you hit with the middle end of the spear and cutting with the tip. If it ever happens that you hit with the first third of the spear's length, you hardly deal any damage at all.

Your roll is replaced by a step in the direction you tilt the analog towards. Basically, your hunter uses the spear to launch him/her self towards that direction. It has a pretty good range, but has a sort of delay before you can initiate another one. You have the ability to launch an attack midair (although you don't go very high when you use it. You go something like 2 or 3 feet off the ground.) to perform a slow but hard hitting attack (say a lot of damage if the tipper hits or a lot of ko/impact if the middle hits). /\ mid air is an overhead swing, O is a sweep swing and O+/\ is a thrust.

holding the R button makes you run with the spear in hands, kind of like the lance charge but instead of being lots of hits, it is a single hit that deals more damage the longer you run. has the GS three levels of charge (say after 2 seconds of running you get first charge 4 is second and 6 is third. Whenever you press an attack button the charge is stopped and you use one of the three charged hits.

Charge /\= use the spear as pole to launch yourself forward and overhead swing.

charge O= whirlwind for a few seconds depending on the charge level. (I don't know if that's such a good idea)

charge /\+O= GIGA DURIRU BURAIKAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! ((u become a pierce shot cuz it's cool. Also, you scream what Kamina says cuz it's cool) Don't try to BS me and say it ain't Monster hunter enuff cuz I won't be happeh)

unsheathe= overhead swing for easy to access KO damage.
/\= overhead swing (if tilt the stick forward+/\ it makes u step in as you perform the attack)
/\, /\= stab forward
/\, /\, /\(mash teh button for moar stabz)lots of quick stabs.
/\, /\, /\+O= steps back with an upswing.
/\, /\, O= horizontal swing
/\, O= horizontal swing
/\, O, right before the end of the first swing press O again to turn a 180° swing into a 360° swing.
/\, /\+O= steps back with an upswing. (infinite combo, /\, /\+O, /\, /\+O...)
O= horizontal swing (if tilt the stick forward+O it makes u step in as you perform the attack)

It is a weapon of precision. the charge is an opener or something you do to close up the distance between you and the monster, it won't be as viable as GS unsheathe charge spamming. You have the ability to cut tails and ko monsters which is pretty cool, but instead of being on different attacks, it changes depending on what part of your spear the monster hits. it is neither a slow or fast weapon, definitely good with elements but not impossible to play without.

PS: Throwing the spear as a boomerang is a no-no. If you want to throw the spear, do it like a hook-shot in Zelda where you throw it and if it hits the monster, it stays stuck for say 1 or 2 seconds and then your guy pulls it out with a chain. You lose the control over your character during that time but when he pulls out the spear, it deals an incredible amount of stagger to the monster's part in which the spear was stuck. That sounds cool doesn't it? Except for the fact that you lose control of your character for such a long period of time. I thought of it, people might want to add it in but I don't know, it just sounds like a gimmick to me. When would you want to use that? you don't really deal any damage with it it's more of a team support kind of thing. And it reminds me a lot of the SA's hack'n slash which I really didn't like. Except now it looks cool...

Attempting to make a class, may take awhile, just making the baseline thingy right here. (also, this class may be a little stupid, idk).

Fighting gauntlets- a weapon for you to test your brute strength and get right up next to the monster for a grueling battle.
Pretty much, yeah. It's a fist fighting weapon. It has KO damage, and usually high strength. They tend to have little affinity, near the 5%-to-none range. There would be a block, but it can only block certain amounts, depending on the weapon strength. (confusing formula that I don't know how to make right now). Unable to be sharpened (no sharpness meter, making it useful for keeping one of your inventory slots open), and it is somewhat of a slow weapon, but not enough to be a challenge to use. Only a bit slower than the longsword. The trade-off for having no sharpness meter (btw, means that you always pierce. basically automatic esp) is that every attack uses varying amounts of stamina. for example (i'm using numbers for this, since it'd be too hard to illustrate), say you have 100 stamina and you use a normal attack. One single attack might take about 5 to 10 stamina away from you, while if you use more of a "special attack" (like the greatswords charge attack is a special attack), it may take 20 to 30 stamina. This makes you have to time your attacks and be careful about how much you fight.
Not sure if this would be good, but also if you fight too much with the gauntlets, after awhile, your stamina level will decrease a little, making you able to fight for less periods of time.

I have no idea if this would be a good class or not, it would be considered blademaster (it's not a gun). But if your stamina got too low and there were no more items to raise it, you'd basically be screwed. If anyone has thoughts about making this better, go for it. also, i don't know about any of the attacks yet. Like I said, I might add them later.

If there's one thing MH lacks, it's a flexible melee weapon that smells of traditional martial arts. Imagine the possibility.

Right? Martial arts weapons would be nice. And a flail would actually be pretty cool. They could make a polearm, too.
