So far, I'm enjoying it. It seemed a bit sluggish at first, though that was just the F-4 they give you. It's actually kinda surprising, as the F-5 is usually the worst plane you can get. In JA, it's very slightly better than the F-4.

*shrugs* I'm still enjoying it. Also, apparently there's another AC coming soon for consoles. Ace Combat: Assault Horizon

I'm on the mission right after you fight V...*something inane* Squadron the second time, in the mountains. I thought they were doing it, but that fight confirmed it. They're recycling music, I just can't place it. I'm thinking AC2, but I could be wrong.

Well I got the game, but I'm only a few missions in. I'm really impressed by the game so far and I am going to enjoy it for a while. What exactly determines the rank you get, the time or the time and damage you take/ammo wasted??

Gary, I honestly haven't a clue. It seems like the Ranking conditions change every mission, as one time I was taking my sweet old time and S-ranked, then did the same in another mission and C-ranked. It's not tied to kills anymore, because I've killed everything in the map including the Ace, and C/B-ranked.

Alright, this mission's getting on my damn nerves. You can't shoot the transports with the nuke fuel, instead you have to stall them. Fine and dandy the first few minutes, but when they switch it off, then it gets irritating and boring. Gotta wait for everything to get into position, meanwhile everyone's looking to shove a missile up your tailpipe.

I'm not looking forward to doing that mission and the one before it (Boeing 747 FTL) again just to unlock the f22 and forneus.

Anyways, the game is f-ing awesome. Beat the game once already and now I just have to go through it again to unlock more things (and on hard to unlock Ace mode).

Another question (if anyone should know), what determines of the mission you play is the alpha or beta version (like say 21a and 21b or 5a and 5b). Is alpha the solo version and beta the coop version? Cause I went through it on coop and every mission like that was the beta version.

I'm playing on infrastructure now. It...seems like it's far easier to unlock stuff this way. On completion of Mission 4 (which I've already completed) I unlocked two new planes, one of which was the S-32. (The other was the...less impressive F-1) I didn't unlock those on the first run, so I'd say Online is very useful.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's required for some things, like the Ace kill in the 747 mission.

Ah hah! I've got it! Rank is based on Kills and time it's taken. Make enough kills and time doesn't matter, and vice versa, though there are some missions where you have to both complete it in a certain time and kill everything.

Cool, well there are only a few missions that you need a certain rank for planes so it's not bad.

Anyone else feel like the last boss is hacking. He maneuvers impossibly and he takes forever to kill

Yeah. You knock his point defense out, then he starts maneuvering like a fracking UAV. I dumped well over 150 bullets into him, and he hasn't died. Someone online took two TLS shots at him, and he was still flying. The final boss has an ABSURD amount of HP.

i wasted maybe 5+ minutes ONLINE once trying to kill him only, then some nub dies on the last part of the mission (somehow, someone always dies by that tower thingy) causing the mission to fail....

well playing this game made me take out my 360 from my basement to play AC Fires of Liberty, which i now have to start from the beginning.

wonder if you need to kill all those hidden aces on each stages to unlock planes
