ooc:
This RPG has a continuation.

-

Hunting Quest: Investigation and Elimination
Reward: To be decided.
Contract: N/A
Expiration: N/A
Location: Elin River
Target Monster(s): Unknown
Special Conditions: N/A
Quest Level: Unknown
Goal Conditions: Find and eliminate the threat.
Client: Maskata Guild Office
Quest Details: Several weeks ago, a group or rookies went on a low level gathering quest near the Elin River, and disappeared. A few days after their expected return, an investigation team was sent, which met with the same fate. Another team was sent, with higher trained hunters, but again, they met the same fate. The area observation balloon had nothing outstanding to report.
The guild has called you and several other hunters in because you are elite and within our calling. Your objective is simple; find and eliminate whatever this thing is. Your pay will be dependent on what it is. In the odd chance that retreat is necessary, pay will still be given for the investigation.
Good luck.

This was the quest given to a select group of hunters around the city of Maskata, now a few days old, plenty of time to travel from one town to another. Because of local mountain ranges, the only way to get to the city from another town would be from the south, which would be where all of these hunters would pass at one point or another.

The city seemed to be quite a wealthy one, judging by its elaborate large arcing double door gate, and the populous well kept buildings that crowded the streets. To the east, even larger buildings could be seen, mansions and even some sky scrapers. Off to the west, the buildings couldn't even be seen over the others, which left itself open for interpretation.

At noon, a caravan entered the giant double door gate into the middle of the city, traveling with it a great group of hunters. Something to be noted was how so few civilians were traveling with the caravan, yet it had so many trading and farm goods. There was still a crowd from the city though, some of which gathered around the caravan in curiosity, others that just went about their business.

The hunter's didn't know it yet, but would discover soon enough, that there was much more to this city than met the eye, with hidden secrets and shocking truths. Their quest would follow the same path.

-
ooc: That was a pretty crappy intro, I'll admit. I had to write it twice, due to some sort of error.
You'll have to trust me that things get a bit more interesting later on.

Anyway, your current tasks would be:
-Find the guild hall
-Find a place to stay

The best way to do that is ask for directions, as will it be for finding any other place.

I expect the majority of you to enter on that caravan, since its conventional, and you'd have been paid to protect it.
Some of you might decide to enter alone on foot.

The main rule to remember here is, don't control anything or one but your own character.
Usually I'd let players control civilians, but in this city I'm going to be sort of particular about their behavior.

ooc: I liked the intro, DMDB.

-
Memories flood a hunter as he rides into the city of Maskata upon a caravan. Memories of the quest that launched his career into what it is now. Shifting his peculiar axe sword, the hunter garbed in Nargacuga stands to take in the magnificent sight. Civilians watching and buildings piercing the sky, Maskata is indeed a beautiful place. But it is not the time to take in sights. He has been called for a special mission, where his caliber will be tested, and his thrill with be brought to new heights. He lives for the hunt... now, anyway...

As the caravan finally pulls to a stop, the hunter in black painted Narga S full jumps down from his resting place near the front wagon. He removes the little belongings he carried, and makes sure he has his bead bracelet, something he does maybe a thousand times a day, ever since...

Looking around, the hunter thinks it best not to wonder around in a city he had yet to visit looking for the Guild HQ. Instead, he observes for some sort of Guide or curious citizen. Shouldering his pack, he walked over to the nearest civilian who had taken time to stop and watch the caravans entrance.

ooc: Woohoo, first reply.

Ooh water. That's a nice change. Then again, nothing said that the threat was aquatic...
Elin river? Nice name.

What is it that is "a few days old"? The quest, the city, or...the hunters?. I take that you meant the quest.
Will RP later.

ooc- I'm going to choose to have arrived ahead of the caravan a day earlier if that is alright with you though I am apart of the same caravan. Basically I went off ahead on urgent side quest from protecting the caravan to deliver something or whatever. :) Though I do like the intro. Gives way for a brilliant picture of a bustling city at the peek of it's prosperity. :D

Waking up from bed on the second floor of the guild hall's tavern. Joshua looked out of his window and at the bright a beautiful city, taking in all the sights and smells that brought with it. Among the sights the hunter noticed a large caravan coming into the city. Putting on his binocular goggles the hunter zoomed in on the arriving caravan. After noticing who the caravan belonged to he jumped out of bed and got dressed into some casual city clothes and ran out to meet it.

I'm sure he meant the quest.

Though I do have a question. Are you going to control the time of day like in the past RPG? That way we don't get lost as to what day it is and what not. :P

after a few minutes after the Caravan had entered the city Noeh apprached the city gate. Although told he was an idiot for getting off the caravan 10mins beforei t made it to the city but, Noeh didnt mind the walk and didnt feel like enduring the battle to get through the crowd around the Caravan and so made made a less eye catching entry into the huge city. Tired from the log journey Noeh ask a nearest civilian willing to listen wee to buy a map of the city? the civilian told him it could be bought at the shop across the street. after thanking the person he made he was to the shop and bought a map which aided him in a search for a place to stay and the guild HQ in the city.
according to the map the guild HQ was at the center of the city and that most rent-able rooms would would be found in the along the mains roads in the city. Noeh checked with many Inns until he found with the best atmosphere to it. This Inns was the Warrior's spirit in with rooms staring at 200 zenny a night which wasnt a bad price so he rented, after he got to his room he colasped into the soft bed and slept for the rest of the night. After awaking the next mourning refreashed he head straight to the guild.

Maskata. A bustling city home to thousands of people of all races. Buildings shining in the mid-day sun.

Impos Ballard stood on a grassy hill overlooking the main gate of the city and noticed that a caravan was just arriving. Not just any caravan, this one was heavily guarded by a group of hunters. Whatever that caravan held must be worth a pretty penny to warrant such a large group of hunters.

Choosing to travel alone whenever possible, rather than hitch a ride on a caravan and be questioned about his scar. Impos had trekked through the wilderness alone, a place where Impos is the most comfortable. He has reached his destination and stopped to take in the view of the city.

"The guild called me here. For what, I can't be so certain. The words "urgent" and "disappearance" on the letter caught my eyes; perhaps this has something to do with that fateful day."

Impos headed down the hill towards the main gate. His favourite weapon, the bowgun, slung lazily over his shoulder. His armor? Crafted from the finest Barioth pieces and fitted perfectly to his size.

After arriving at the gate, Impos asks one of the guards for directions to the local branch of the Guild while a group of curious civilians whisper among themselves about his scar.

@crestfallen
I don't think you should jump so far ahead in time, it could make it awkward. Like say if DB wanted us to be confronted by a local gang, where would you be? A day in the future, ahaha. And watch out to make sure you aren't controlling NPCs. DB mentioned a particular way of behaviour. You too, W0n.

"...And that's why Popo dung is better as fertilizer."

As the farmhand concluded, the wagon passed through the main gates of the destination city. The soft grinding of the wheels on the dirt road gradually changed to steady rumbling as the caravan train once again entered civilised territory. Attention turned to the escorted goods, and people did item counts to ensure all items were accounted for. The farmhand did the same, leaving his listener alone at the back of the wagon.

Soen Seeds liked conversations. It reminded him that people were alive. It also gave him an excuse to sit at the back of one of the wagons when he should have been walking instead. He would have chosen a spot near the front, but this time some Naruga clad hunter-what was his name, James or something-had occupied that area. Ah, he's gone now.

With a slight shove, the hunter pushed himself forward and covered the few inches between his feet and the ground. He swiftly turned, the moderately heavy blue volganos armor giving no trouble, and reached inside the wagon for his helm. He was rudely halted by the tip of his lance, strapped behind his back, being restricted of entry--courtesy of wagon's height. This seldom happened. Soen adjusted the strap to be a bit lower, and proceeded to take out his helm and a bundle of personal belongings. The helm he equipped; the bundle he slung over his shoulder, the sling fitting snugly between the jawbone collar and the shoulder pad.

Maskata. He had never been here before, and did not expect such a bustling atmosphere. Who would have thought that a lone city surrounded by mountains could become so populous? And how in St. Helens did they manage to keep wyverns from tearing apart their skyscrapers?

This place seems well fortified, Soen observed, walking past what seemed to be a great mansion. Apparently they find it safe enough to invest in property. If there was a city requiring hunters HR6 and above of an elite level, it doesn't seem to be Maskata.

Or is it? From his item pouch, Soen took out the heavily folded quest-notice issued by the Maskata Guild, and as he reread he contents he decided to go find the guild tavern. Big cities are bound to have one.

ooc:
@Semaj: Not sure if you're actually asking the person, or about to. Please clarify.

@Rekee Soen: The quest was issued a few days ago, which would give everyone a few days to get to the town and stuff.
That name was generated out of laziness.

@General: You guys won't be fighting underwater, like in game.
Also, did someone private message me? I think I accidentally deleted it, when I couldn't find it.

@Merc: I suppose its ok you arrived a day ahead. I'm going to PM you something, remind me to if I forget.

The guild hall itself won't have bedrooms, but there's plenty of inn's nearby.
If you took up lodging near the hall, it would be normally priced. Not cheap, not expensive.

I will be the one to control the flow of time. (Damn that sounded evil.)

@Crestfallen: I'll let you keep the map, since it would make sense to have it near the gates.

However, as Semaj said, slow it down a bit, and wait for the others. I'm going to stop you at where you bought the map.
Also, I'd like to be he one to control the NPC's (Non-Player-Characters), because its sort of important in this RPG.

@General: The guild's emblem is that shield divided into 4 sections, two of which are black, the other two some other color .
It's on some S armors, the part that can change color.
Hopefully that makes sense.

I hate to be the stickler of the rules, but it's necessary.

Also, my cousin is coming over today, sleeping over, so I might be away.
Curse all of these interruptions.

-

"See that flag of the guild's emblem?" The guard responded to Impos, pointing towards the richer looking part of town, where a high reaching pole was, on it a white flag of the guild's emblem. It was maybe a ten minute walk away, given all the turns that would need to be taken, and the crowded population. "That's where the guild hall is." He continued, smiling in pleasure of being of assistance.

The smile quickly turned to a frown though, as the guild knight aggressively reached for Impos hip. "Hey! Get out of here!" A child's shriek could be heard, and upon looking the said child could be seen running away into the crowd, disappearing. "...Damned thieves..." The knight muttered, scowling at the retreating child.

ooc: oops, srry my bad got a little ahead of myself there. What is the name of this city btw so we wont have to keep saying "the city"?)
let me try this again:
-After speaking with the civilian Noeh bought some Popo Jerky and a map, then began to study it's contents to learn the basic layout of this city as not to become lost.

ooc : hope thats better.

ooc: The city is called "Maskata."

-

Like any city map there was a huge collection of streets with various names, and shapes that represented buildings, some rather larger ones that must have been big estates.

The city was a rectangular shape, horizontally longer (west-east). It was divided into three sections, "West Maskata," "Central Maskata" and "East Maskata," Each about the same size.
West seemed to have nothing in it, while East seemed to be cram packed, Central less so.

The Gathering Hall was located about in the center of the East section.
There was a rather large Guild Office located somewhere else in the east, and another smaller one in central. Oddly enough, there wasn't one in the west.

-
ooc: The Guild Office is where the Guild does all of their paper work. It also serves as a police station.
Towns usually only have one.

You're looking for the gathering hall. (If I ever call it the guild hall, it's the same thing.)

Is there anything else you'd like to learn from the map?
(Inns would be near the gate, for business purposes.)

It stinks being a suburban person, trying to make up a city, lol.

ooc- Awe. okay. I guess I figured that the gathering hall would have a place for hunters to spend the night for free since we work for the Guild and what not, but that's fine. :)

As Joshua ran out into the crowd of people making his way toward the caravan that just entered the city. He watched the Guild Knights that were on patrol and guarding the higher officials' buildings and mansions. Joshua had a funny feeling that something has been happening in this city recently, but he couldn't quite figure it out. Before he knew it he was in shouting range of the caravan and he shouted out to get the leader's attention. "Hey! Guys! What took you so long?!" He shouted in hopes that the leader could hear him over the noise of the crowd.

ooc- I didn't know your character's name DB. I'm assuming it is the same as your last character, but I didn't want to assume and get it wrong by having my character call you that. So I just called you the leader of the caravan since that's what I figured you would be. :P

ooc: I could see how the Gathering Halls might work like that.
They could work a bunch of ways really.
I'm just saying they work my way, so we have something official to go with.

Gomo won't be in this one, sadly. (His life goals lead him elsewhere.)
This is just a random caravan. (The leader isn't necessarily a hunter either.)

My character is elsewhere. You'll find him later.
Also, these guys will have little to no idea who you are. Their only hint would be your armor (if you walk around with it, which might be a little weird if you think about it).

We'll say today is the day you hunters were meant to meet up. Tomorrow will be your departure for the quest.

Soen Seeds raised the quest-notice with both hands, comparing the guild emblem on it with the emblem on a billowing flag a considerable distance away. Unsurprisingly, they matched.

Using the flagpole as a reference point, Soen began making his way towards the guild tavern/hall/building.

ooc: creative of you, db, to use that shield as the guild's emblem.
Also: Should anything unexpected come my way, Evade on.

Impos thanked the guard for the directions and for preventing the young thief from grabbing anything. Then proceeded to saunter off to find the guild hall to prepare for the upcoming quest.

Feeling uneasy after the attempted theft, Impos decided to keep a watchful eye on his surroundings for anything suspicious. evasion flame on

ooc: HEY WON. And I was approaching, waiting for a response.

-
Before he reached the citizen, a billowing flag caught his attention. Anyone employed by the Guild or of High Rank could recognize the Guild Ensignia. The Shield, a holy omen for hunters. Semaj disregarded the civilian and then regretted it. The streets probably twist and turn like any other large city, so getting lost is a real possibility. Deciding to play if off, Semaj turned back towards the citizen and approached it.

"Why, excuse me. Mind telling me how I may reach the Guild Hall or find a map or a Guide of sorts?" His smile is hidden, but the sincerity radiates. At least what seems to be sincerity...

EDIT: lols at people thinking this is Crescent War RP. Evade on...

As the caravan arrived in the town of Maskata a lone hunter was busy meditating on the roof of the second to last wagon of the caravan.

"Hmm...I have arrived" I said. "What a gloomy atmosphere this city has...Interesting though it may be."

After a yawn and a stretch I decided to equip my trusty armor. After five minutes of tying straps and bumping my head on low ceilings I stepped off the now quiet caravan and began to explore Maskata in earnest.
With a cloak over my complete set of Barioth armor and sporting my well used dual blades, the Hurricane, I presented a formidable visage to enterprising pickpockets(Or so I thought). My first step after arriving was to find an inn. Twelve minutes of wandering around later I found a promising one. I had to say the name of that fine establishment to believe it.

"The Weeping....Khezu..."

Underneath those words a wooden sign was painted in the image of a Khezu crying its crocodile tears in a waterfall like fashion over the door.
I gave that sign a dubious look and then sighing to myself decided to enter the building.

ooc: Well 17dragonboy I have just one question. In the last RPG we player characters could create our own scenarios, for instance my rival in all things food Gizditch. Is that not allowed in this RPG? If so, bummer...

Joshua finally reached the caravan. "Hey guys." He approached the leader of the caravan. "Sorry you might not remember me. I was with you guys until about a day or so now, The name is Joshua Falsehart. I was one of the hunter's assigned to protecting the caravan." Joshua reached out his hand to caravan leader to obviously shake the leader's hand.
