That's what it looks like. Then again, all it would take is someone donning anonymous pictures anonymously to be anonymous. (ok, that makes sense, right?)

This forum, I went to it quite a bit. Now its gone. I'm a little sad.

Is this place backed up somewhere in case something like this happens?

Anyone can say their part of Anon, because anyone can be.

Was there a reason for the hack or just for lulz?

I could be for lulz. It was a Christian forum.
There were some rumors that after megaupload was shut down, Anonymous started attacking random Christian sites.

Here's the actual site.

They attacked government sites most recently in protest against the 2 Bills congress tried to pass and because of megaupload being brought down,
FBI and the CIA both went down if I recall correctly although I would have to double check.

A few months ago there was an attack on a church because of the religion they where preaching had messed up beliefs.
So that may be what they got the idea from, but it's highly unlikely it was anonymous. They have no valid reason to attack
you, the person who attacked you was probably thought it was funny to blame it on them.

Remeber Anon. claims to be "hackers with morals" who essentially just want to preserve the rights of people online, that
being said it's made up of a large number of people and don't always see eye to eye. If an attack does occur without anon
coming to a consensus or if the attack was taken to far the person who did it is essentially sold out.

As for Minegarde being being backed up, I would assume so. It's good practice to have a back up on websites like this
on the off chance the site is hacked and then just filled with kitty porn or viruses. You just delete the old files
and replace them with your backups, and in most cases you will be up and running again fairly quickly.

This doesn't guarantee that nothing will ever go wrong and improvements to the security would have to be made,
but it makes things easier in the long run.

Backing up a full forum would be a fair amount of effort on a regular basis. New content posted regularly and all. It also takes storage space and bandwidth, largely the latter. These aren't free. I'm not aware of any backup we have.

What we do have is Google's cache. It might not be complete, and if we do have another crisis of such, it would be too much trouble to back up everything, we'd just get the important stuff. Remember, the site did go down a while back, when our old host got shut down. We had to start the forum over. We were able to access many of the important posts, such as guides, through Google's cache before it refreshed.
If you have any issues with the forum or with other members, please PM me. I'm here to help.

When I said "backup" I meant your HTML, images, CSS pages etc.

Not the actual forum content, that could get pretty insane especially if you did it regularly.

Sorry for the misunderstanding!
