Does this extend the hunter's life/extra courses we already have if we currently have those?

it does not extend it.

Case 1: you currently don't have a sub = You will automatically be subbed for both courses until the 25th

Case 2: you currently are subbed until past the 25th = You will receive 14 days worth of (EX or HLC or both, w/e you paid to sub with) coupons that you can enter in the COG website.

Case 3: you currently are subbed but it ends after the 11th but before the 25th = You will receive (25 - day of expiration) days worth of coupons that you can enter in the COG website. Once your sub ends, you will automatically be subbed until the 25th.

The coupons will normally be handed out the following month.

You can get it digitally, but you don't have to pay any money. The game client is free--all the packages you see for it are for extra in-game content.

No, but there's stuff other than packages for which I would say yes. It's all done by entering codes which are shipped to you or (for content not in a package) given privately to you online. YOU SHOULDN'T BE THINKING ABOUT EXTRA PAID CONTENT UNTIL YOU HIT HR31. Don't worry about those packages, they do not give you a permanent advantage, just a handful of extra gear and items that aren't stronger than anything else.
