I think MH4 looks really good! It's a shame I don't have a 3ds... But then I'm not really a Nintendo person.

I don't think MH4 is the end...they didn't announced that MH4 is exclusive for 3DS right?

MH4 completely deviates from the original formula, if it was to come here it would be told "AMAZING a new fresh start that's accessible by everyone and simple!"- Critics
Us- -________-
It might not be a bad game but it strays too far from the original devastatingly difficult and reward through hard work series we love.

Well, I for one felt that the difficulty of Portable 3rd was "hmm, the baby bear's porridge is just nice". The thing is, those who had played FU find it easier than we were used to - hopefully this will change with the addition of G rank.

I feel like this topic was too quickly and easily dropped. This place is home to roughly 20-30 active users. Most of them seclude themselves to random musings and pandox.

I dont necessarily think social forum would be best, but more of a social video game based forum. We limit ourselves to monster hunter. A series with literally, about 12,000 fans left in america. All because capcom didnt wanna port frontier and advertise their psp games. Its depressing. Think about how much this would be different if they advertised and ported frontier. WoW kids would make a difference. But i dont care about that really because im content with playing in japanese.

Im deviating from my point. Maybe its time for a change. Ive always said we needed change but i never implied a total site reorganize. But i look at the site and just maybe..

An example of a video game forum would be:

bhlgaming.com

now, i wanted to continue this in here to discuss possibilities. Other than what ive thought of.

But, the people who are about to join this. Id rather them be the active users. Not the ones who get on once a month. Yet, every member is still entitled to an opinion. Its that i feel the conversatiomn would benefit more from those who are on every day or so.

We dont need a huge change, we need a new skin on the forum thats shiny and appealing enough so people will want to register....

Old MG? tons of people online before it died. New recruits now? bots.

Its too bad that we have noone who knows how to code skins, or people with funding to buy one halfway decent... Im sure more people would go "omgosh this place looks kewl" and sign up if it was visually appealing.

I don't think it would be a good idea and as such immediately pushed the second option fearing the first one was by far winning judging from the comments here.

Minegarde is Minegard and MH COULD exand worldwide, it just takes its time. This game has insane potential.
Personally I am going to start a great project investing my own money into creating a view introduction and AMV videos to back up a Facebook site which I plan on spreading in order to point at this genre.

Luckily MH games have tons of convincing cinematic and just for this purpose I got a cfw on one of my PSPs to be able to record vids now or possibly even offer save editing in the future.
In fact I have also started playing MHFU again (with a fully new save, aiming at achievements and completing a whole armor gallery).

That's a lot of talking about myself. Well the thing up until now is that MH is a stagnating community.
People talk a lot 'bout how awesome the game is, but look at it THIS way:
Imagine everyone actively playing an MH game would (and this imo IS realistic) spread the game by getting just 5-10 people he knows to try it out and play COOP with him (maybe in groups, if he already found some ppl), the community could expand tenfold.

Facebook is an insanely awesome medium to spread this franchise and I am making preparations to make this become true.

Currently I'm a little capped cause I need a laptop (will take me approximately 3 weeks to get enough money to buy one), but as soon as I'm at it, we (my friends and I) will start making several guides, introduction vids, armor galleries and all that stuff (beginning with MHFU, because that's what we can most work with as of now). Hopefully more players will join this one and help creating VISUAL content that MAINLY focusses around appealing to outsiders.

With that said I also would like to point out, that we in fact could push the selling of MHFU and Tri in the west with this project.
I know it is unrealistic to think, that this is a guaranteed win for the west, but it's not like we could lose something. Admit it: In the end, if this works out well (and it only will, if people provide efforts) we would have fun from the working progress, guides and encyclopedias for newcomers and possibly even some fan-work.

Spreading the franchise COULD be successful and it IS realistic. And if it works out, Capcom will PUSH their western releases and the MH community would gain more artist, possibly guys like egoraptor who would make vids of the thingy, maybe even some ppl who would try to make a monster hunter manga (I know there is one, but is "one" the cap? I think not).

This game is dying, because the western world is difficult than Japan. Somehow Japan is how it is and simply plays games at each and every corner of the city, but NA and EU are different. Japan initially got the Multiplayer, west has got to work for it to exist. Do you want that or not? Don't you care? That would be a pity. I wouldn't talk of other games like this, but this is a franchise with a whole own genre and this genre has insane potential. Some gamers NEED that genre but simply don't know it and thus we should work towards making some advertisement here.

Tell Capcom sucks for not making Advertisement themselves, but several times saying they need it. Why talk bout capcom? They get their money anyways. Look at their current west announced Vita Titles: "something X Tekken" and "Marvel vs. Capcom 3". They have other franchises they can make money with worldwide, they will throw MH away if their next game in the west (possibly the 3DS game) isn't going to be a promising income.

We shouldn't blame Capcom, no matter how much it sux, we should try to up their sales ourselves to ensure, they do their work how we want them to do it.

And in the end: Aren't there a lot of you people who always admired those guide makers and podcasters? Start it yourself! Start something yourself! We need to summarize all and everything and add more work, making it visually more appealing to outsiders. Everyone could make something cool. Or you could deny the idea because fearing it would be for nothing. Only your will counts and after all: Life is what happens while you're at planning it.

Just to make it sure:

I know of Cherry Blossom, but that was way too unenthusiastic IMO.
Gamers love trailers, gamers love visuality and most importantly: Quality.

It IS possible to achieve quality, but not alone. And most importantly with the right means and people.
Start something with potential for utter awe and you will be able to convince professionals, who would be willing to help with achieving this utter awe.

See: everything needs to start, thats right. And cherry blossom has started. But one-time effort is nothing compared to ongoing effort. Especially with social platforms such as facebook/twitter and sites like youtube, you need to UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE. And update with something people could actually be INTERESTED in.

I hope, there are already people, who would follow us. If not, we will have to do, what I'm explaining: Show you guys some beginning work to get you in.

For all intents and purposes we're already a social site. Just one that originated from, and continues to revolve around, Monster Hunter. Not that that's a bad thing. I chose option #3. I came for the MH, but I stayed for the people. I think we could expand our boundaries a little without it adversely affecting us. I'll be here either way. :)

#2

just throwing my two cents in. I watched my old monster hunter forum die, and it wasn't fun. I enjoy the social aspects, but it's my only tie to a monster hunting community apart from those I've pressed to get into the franchise. I could go to any forum for a social interaction, but Minegarde is what I think about when I think of Monster Hunter or when I play the game. Even as a member confined almost strictly to the RPG board, I talk about and post about Monster Hunter in majority. I love Monster Hunter RPGs and Monster Hunter is what keeps me coming back. ^_^

MH is beginning to fall from grace, but it's still spreading. Why, I've introduced 4 people to P3rd, and last week I saw a couple of students - around my age, probably slightly older - playing P3rd with each other at a restaurant (I tried to strike up a conversation, but they probably thought I was a noob, not a HR6 hunter who has killed everything and has over a thousand posts on the best MH forum ever. And they weren't even high rank)...

We need to expand our horizons and spread the word, like Christians

So far, I only have convinced 2 people to play MH.
But they quit. One was very noob, coz' he refuses to take advice from me.
The other one has potential, He reached HR before me, but then when he got a PS3, he quit.
I think casual gamers may have a hard time finding MH as an enjoyable game.
People nowadays aren't that hardcore-type gamer... Always shooters.....

Besides being on Kai, only 2 of us out here.
Been playing since the original but it's hard to introduce people as they find the controls can be a little tedious compared to dual joysticks. (Camera angle issues mainly)

Love the game for it's portability and huge content on the go. Killing a Narg on the bus or going up a HR on the boat.
Truly an amazing game, only wish more would see it.

Everyone wants to go for the latest Army simulator or juicy graphics, replay value already shows in that respect.
