Depends on the game really.
I'm not going to play in FP view in a mmo.
But I do like FP in a shooter games.

Has to be First person. I enjoy the immersion feel it gives. I like it even better when its not in a FPS

First person for shooters, third person for action RPGs, top-down for turn based RPGs. Can't say I prefer one over the other. Some games I want the immersion of the first person perspective, other times I want to see my character.

3ps, i dont like fps much. I also like semi-bird's-eye view, much like starcraft's perspective.

It depends on the game, but I like to vary it.
For games like Oblivion/Skyrim I'll fight in first person but will sometimes wander around in third person.
I liked the third person modes on Modern Warfare 2 because it was different and (almost) introduced a new style of play.

I actually have a soft spot for side-scrollers, especially if they're action RPG.
(Like Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow and Super Metroid)
First person is good, but I'm really picky about it. For instance, I DON'T like most shooter games because I have to tweak the "ramping" on every one of them I play. King's Field games and Oblivion were different, but I think it has to do with the different premise. The only FPS I feel any sort of true immersion though is Descent 3.
Third person I like more than first person if I have free camera reign. Demon's/Dark Souls is a great example because even though my guy is in front of me, I can look anywhere just as easy as any FPS.
