This is my first Shen Gaoren(Elder 6* urgent quest) Which Bowgun should I use against it and what ammo?

Yes but that kind of response is destuctive to his views of the site. Besides, this is up for discussion, the quick question thread is for "Where do I find..." "What is this..." Type things.

Anyway, is there any way I.could get you to deviate from the hbg for this?

I ask because anybody can throw out suggestions, but I usually prefer some back info first and make a suggestion within your capabilities.

I kind of wondered about that when I posted... People do ask this kind of question almost all the time there though.

Anyways, I agree with Kaos. Maybe it would be a good idea to go to another weapon than a bowgun, reasons are that you can do serious damage with something like Greatsword's lvl3 charge and the fact that you don't need to spend massive amounts of resources on making bullets.

Unless you're a freak with heroics right now, BGs aren't a good idea, I doubt you even have pierce lvl 3 capable guns yet.
Switch to a GS or hammer, make sure it's fire element, makes your life much easier.
Fight will be a little tough at first but don't be afraid of losing keep on practicing on with the GS or hammer.

If the quest is the Shen Gaoren at the other fortress, then the same method applies; just stand behind it and fire Pierce shots into its skull.

I heard Bowgun is the fastest and quickest way for defeating Shen Gaoren. So should I still use hammer or Gs?

Make the diablos set. (the HR6 has adrenaline, or is it monoblos?)

I recall one having adrenaline. Use that. Then gem in pierce up. Then fire pierce like that. Uhh, as for weps, what fires pierce? Garuga? Its been a while, and im limited to only hr6 things. Get a pierce lvl 3 and just adrenaline the.mess out of it. Its weakpoint is actually inside the shell. Make sure you use the nator when it stands up to fireblast.

If all else fails, blangonga set with the (lol...i forget all fire hammers except thr lunastra one) somebody help. Lol

Dude. I dont play unite very often anymore. And im so used to my arsenal on end game weps and armors I dont remember much from hr6 except silver los/white fata armor and divine slasher etc. lol. But I remember pieces, like, make sure you make the lao hbg when you unlock it. Amazing, and the hr8 version is best hbg in game.

Is it possible to kill Shen Gaoren within the time limit without Felyne Heroics or Adrenaline+2?

With a hbg, I dont think so. Your going to need something else. Get blangomga armor and a decent gs, ls, hammer, or ds.

Gs: kirin or fata
Ls: true devil slicer (makes really quick work out of him)
Hammer: uhh...uhh...uhh...dammit me and my inability to rememb. Id personallu say garuga hammer.
Ds: kirin or chainsaws

Is Gaoren weak to Thunder? I didn't think it was, I thought it was Fire and Dragon.

Dragon > Fire > Thunder.

Thunder can pierce (Bowgun), though not too sure how that will affect the final damage output.

Well unless you got lucky with rusted weapons no dragon weps yet. Go with the best fire hammer you got it with some power and mega juices and triple pound when near it and superpound it when you reach one of it's legs after chasing it. It works great.

Or just infinite combo its legs with the GS (I remember using Tactical Blade here). Not very elegant (probably ineffective at higher levels, too) but it works.

I am not going to lie but.....I tried to kill this fool with Duel Blades and you know what.... I think I have learned my lesson after that.

los/ian duals, or lao duals, or kirin duals...
blangonga armor mixed with ceunataur for sharpsword and tremor res.
