Bonus shot does not decrease the damage dealt from the rapid fir.

I have a this one ready made and I'll see if I can work on the others.

Element Attack Up | Recoil Down +2 | Bonus Shot

No weapon slot required
Uragaan Cap+
Lagiacrus Vest+ (Element Jewel+)
Lagiacrus Guards+ (Absorber Jewel)
Uragaan Coat+ (Absorber Jewel)
Lagiacrus Leggings+ (Absorber Jewel)
Dragon Talisman (Fusillade Jewel) (or any combination that would give bonus shot +4. Uragaan cap has an empty slot as well)

Just throwing out some more sets. I think I must concede that El_Juan is better at finding the most powerful sets and the most efficient way of getting certain skills. Oh well, I just like being creative. I also greatly prefer sets that look cool. ;)

Is this technically better to use than the Load up, element attack up and bonus shot set? I'm looking for max damage output over time. Somehow I do have a talisman with +4 bonus shot. And thank you for the other post with weapons. Repped again =)

rofl, i just tried to be helpfull and say that rapid fire doesnt worth it

and it doesnt really

i tried both and in my opinion on mh3 dont worth

if u compare the speed of rapid fire like 100 shots with rapid fire and then with normal fire u will se that the numbers are really close and with normal fire u are more safe

ok, 2 weeks to do this cause thats when ill be back, but i'd like a set with wide area+2, status+ and recoil down+ 1/2 (idm which)

this'll be a support set, so it'll need to be able to fire recover lv 2, sleep lv2, both paras, both poisons, and cutting / exhaust s shots

+ reps for whoever fills this request

It isn't that rapidfire fails, it is that the ammo conservation it offers is largely unnecessary.
Without the bonus shot skill, rf pierce 2 loses 11% damage per second to single fire pierce 2.
But, the damage over time increases, as sf will run out of ammo earlier than rf.

TLDR: You get more damage over a longer period of time.

there's no auto reload like old MHFU, also, most of rapid barrels pack good amount of element
the only thing though, you trade single fire damage & shield
and most things in MH3 seem to be very slow, allowing most rapid to enter before they move to mess the pierce/hit zone

Of note about this set: recoil down does not reduce the recoil of rapid fired shots.

Is it a set time period of waiting between shots then? I've made the set since nobody replied about it before -_-. Will make the other set I originally asked for then.

@Nuno - I'm always poor so I need to use as little ammo as possible while doing good damage. I only waste about 3 shots per match.

You mean the Diablos/Helios set? In that case, you'll want a gun with a good Pierce S capacity, especially Lv1. I'll just put up some ideas I like. ;)

Frame/ Barrel/ Stock

Rathling Gun+/ Devil's Grin/ Diablazooka
High attack power (albeit with -10% affinity) and a good helping of all Pierce shots. Reload is Above Average, and Recoil is Average, which should be good enough since you shouldn't be doing much status support or explosive spamming with this set.

Thundercrus Rex/ Devil's Grin/ Thundercrus
This set has slightly less attack power, but without the -10% affinity. It also has a smaller Pierce S Lv2 capacity. On the other hand, the recoil is "Some," allowing you to recoilessly fire off Lv1 status shots and stuff.

Thundercrus Rex/ Barrozooka/ Thundercrus
Aside from using the Diablazooka barrel (which I'm not overly fond of) this is the biggest Pierce S Lv1 capacity you can get. It has a...decent capacity for Lv2 also, but no Lv3. The Deviation is High:L, and the range is .60, so it can be a little hard to handle. You might want to see about getting Precision+2, which is made all the easier by the three slots this gun gives you. If you can get past the quirks though, this gun is incredibly powerful.

why is pierce 1 always preferred over pierce 3?

3 hits of 10% for pierce 1
4 hits of 9% for pierce 2
5 hits of 8% for pierce 3

Its just me or would you want to hit for 40% rather than 30%.

Probably because, unless you have low range, it's hard getting all 4 or 5 hits to land on most monsters. Especially since a lot of monsters in Tri are long but not very wide.

Pierce 1 also has a lower reload value, is easier to make and you can make lots of it.
