Hey so I just made it to HR8 today and I'm getting rocked. I'm using full Akantor and mostly use Gunlances or LS. My weapons are gun chariot, ancient destroyer, and hidden gunlance for gl.

For ls, I have akantor katana, hidden saber, tds, and a few others that I need to upgrade.

Any tips on weapons or armors to shoot for so I can keep progressing. Unfortunately I don't have anyone around to play with and no internet for xlink kai.

Hr8? I think akantor armor at Grank is just asking for an OHKO. lulz

For gl make a ESP, Sharp sword set. Heck you can use it with ls as well.

I used the SSP, Cean u/u/z/z set gemmed for ESP, S+1, SS, RA+1 for most of my Grank quests, either that or the RAJX (gs snipes) or azure/black blos mixed (HGE,S+1, RA+3, scream-free hammering)

As for weapons, worlds end is good (final gun chariot upgrade) and TDS. Those can carry you all the way to hr9.

GL is somewhat terribad w/o element, so get them elemental GLs.

Since you were able to farm for Hidden GL, I suppose you can farm for Narga X or at least parts of it. Do it and get Evade+, then use it to get Cean Z.

Cean Z is good enough on it's own (despite the -40 def) but you can opt to mix-match Narga X and Cean Z to get Sharpness+1/Sharp Sword/Evade+ set. AFAIK you can only get Evade+1 with the mix-match w/o negative def penalty, but it's usually more than enough.

Edit: Optionally, get Cean S and jam in Evade+ jewels. It'll last until mid-HR9, provided you can use the Evade+ well.

Yeah I didn't have that bad of a time against naruga just when I blocked his attacks he still did a decent chunk of damage. I didn't figure gl did that great of elemental since they don't attack all that fast as compared to say ls or ds.

Suck with a gs and even if I didn't can't upgrade cause it requires ukanlos parts and that's after HR 8. Thanks anyways though.

Forgot that it required Ukanlos stuff to upgrade my bad, thought it was Big. Elder Dragon jewls.

Gs is pretty easy to pick up, arguably the most OP weapon in the game as well. But I never got into the gunlance,
so do whatever you enjoy most man.

I am working on my gunlance skills. Its my favorite weapon. I can faceroll stuff with ls because its easy but gl requires more skill than that.

That and I want to do an all gl run first as soon as I get mhp3rd.

Everybody knows that King Attilart and/or Gaoren Cleaver with either Rathalos X or Rajang X are the only GS and armor sets you'll really ever need.

I distinctly remember gunning my way through most of HR8 with Lava Storm. If you absolutely need to, that's a pretty good way to get to Yama (who will die to HR6 gear. I killed him with High Silver Sol and Eternal Schism gemmed for Evade+2, and High Silver Sol with Hell Blizzard).
