I picked this series up after hearing some good things about it and was hooked after the first few episodes.

The story is about Craft Lawrence, a traveling merchant in a world that strongly resembles Renaissance Europe. While at one of his usual stops, a little village that specializes in the growth and distribution of wheat, something unusual occurs. Lawrence finds a naked girl hiding in his cart, sleeping in the furs he was intending to sell. But this is no ordinary girl, no sir, she has the ears and tail of a wolf, red eyes and fangs. She is none other than Holo, the wise wolf! Holo explains to Lawrence that she controls the prosperity of the village's wheat crops, but in the past few the years, the village has regarded her less and less kindly, due to the fact that in order to keep the land healthy, she must sometimes make the wheat crop produce less. As a result, the village has stopped believing in her and begun using their own methods to keep their crops healthy.

Well since a harvest goddess is no longer necessary, why bother staying? Holo asks Lawrence to be her guide on her way back to her home, the mythical village of Yoitz, far to the north. And so a beautiful story begins about their travels together.

The central focuses of the story are Lawrence and Holo's developing relationship and Lawrence's economic and business dealings as an aspiring merchant. The series is based on a series of light novels of the same name, which was adapted to anime and manga. The novels are complete, totaling 16 books, I don't know how many volumes of the manga have been published and the anime has 2 seasons of about 30 episodes.

Unfortunately, no Season 3 for the anime has been announced yet, but it's worth getting into regardless. The characters and writing do an incredible job of making currency exchange, stock prices, the downfalls of buying on credit and other economic topics genuinely interesting and watching Lawrence and Holo flirt, tease and get closer to each other is really touching.

SPICE AND WOLF IS AMAZING AND YOU SHOULD WATCH IT.
