Guys, stop being so bummed out. So what, it's on a non-sony system. It's not going to change the game, besides 3D

I FREAKING TOLD YOU SO

3DS = REGION LOCKED

This makes importing it highly impractical because you would need to buy a Japanese 3DS just to play this reiteration of Tri/Portable 3rd. Plus, the 3DS you buy wouldn't be able to play any other games at all unlesss you continue to import all your 3DS titles from Japan.

So, yes there is a very good reason that we are "bummed out".

The DS is more popular than the PSP in America. In Japan, the PSP was selling better than any other system, handheld or console. This was largely because of how ridiculously popular Monster Hunter is in Japan.

From what I remember hearing, the 3DS sales were disappointing in Japan. I know they were disappointing in America. Target was expecting to sell out completely everywhere, we've never been out of stock. The first delivery my store got sat there for, like, a week or two.

Boo hoo, ONE GAME is exclusive. Its not like you havent already played it a thousand times before. We all know its gonna be another rehash of the series with nothing more brought to the table but a new weapon, engine framework, and a monster or two. After playing almost exactly the same game from the first on ps2, to MHF1 through Unite, we get MHP3rd, and what is it? Different, yet entirely the same. I still haven't beaten P3, I got bored halfway through. And seeing now that a 'new' MH is gonna be on 3DS isnt exciting in the least bit.

Dont get me wrong, a new game is always fun for a while, but everyone who even touched the first PS2 MH knows that the series is far from fresh.

Has anybody bothered/is able to get around 3DS region lock via hacking?

No point to wait for localization because it will likely not happen...

I'm basing my statement off the fact that not only did MHP3's localization more or less get denied, but 3DS didn't do all too well in NA.

I'm so sad that they try to obsolete my psp. I love my PSP and I also love monster hunter. I have to give up one of them when 3G is coming out. I wish 3G never make it to the market. :(

While it will have rack value for years and a huge library of games to choose from, the PSP was technically obsolete when the NGP was announced way back in March. I just wished they gave more details on the NGP release of MHP3rd at this point. I am not happy with the franchise not being multi-platform at this point.

just remembered, the 3ds only got around 3hrs or so gametime before a charge. so basicly only 3-6 long quest on roadtrips. so much for portable when you need it to be plugged constantly :P
that circular pad attachment is having an extra charge or something?

and oh boi, target camera... why so low... you know you're better than that, mh!

I dont think the monster hunter 3G game is for 3DS only, soon it will come out other version for PSP or PSP vita or PS3 (just maybe only some of new monster hunter appear in 3DS will not appear in sony console set)

See after monster hunter Tri, capcom come out the vesrion for monster hunter portable 3 for PSP

I love how everyone said the point of the series reboot in Tri was to get rid of reskins...yet all I see is more and more the more I hear about new MH titles. We're back into 3 Loses and Ians, and 2 of every regular monster (Minus new ones like normal). So I expect reskins for all the new monsters from P3rd, should they be included.

Plus...region locked 3DS means that this is terrible news for anyone who was interested and was considering importing it. No one is going to import an entire system for ONE game, so the sales are going to be purely Japan only...not that I think it matters in that regard. If they do localize it, it might actually be good news, since the reason most people never got FU was because they had played and finished with P2G's English patch waiting too long for FU to get announced. So it might actually be a good thing in regards to localization...if it gets localized that is.
