Hi!!

Have you guys played Dragon Quest IX? Do you love it or hate it? Have you beaten the main storyline yet, or are you just beginning your journey? What characters did you create for yourself and your team?? What is your team strategy? :D

This is a topic to discuss all things DQ9. I'm currently addicted to this game, I started playing it a short while ago and recently I've been farming the Legacy Boss Baramos for experience points for my team and for mini medals (I only let Baramos level up to level 4 so far).

---

Here's my own team at this point: :

Nymeria: lv 48 Ranger, 100 skill points in bows, ruggedness, shield. (I've levelled her up in some other vocations in order to cash in on skill points. Same with my other team members)
Logan: lv 50 Warrior, 100 skill points in claws, 52 points in shield, 90 points in courage.
Northman: lv 47 Paladin, 100 skill points in the fan weapon class and virtue. 52 points in shield.
L: lv 47 Priest (might switch to Sage soon), 100 skill points in enlightenment, 84 points in wand, 52 points in shield.

I gave Nym the 'Archery for the Adept' book to hold in her inventory, Logan has 'Martial Artist's Manual', Northman holds the 'Secrets of the Shield' book (I luv this book), and L holds the 'Minstrel's Manual' though sometimes I give this one to Logan so that he can do the Gritty Ditty instead while L concentrates on keeping the team in good health (depending if the battle needs it).

My strategy vs things like Baramos is to take two turns of set up for Northman to get Magic Mirror(shield ability) and Reverse Cycle(fan ability) up, to deflect all magic and breath attacks 100% until those wear off, and then use Forebearance for him. This way he keeps the others safe while being immune to magic, breath and critical hits... and the best part is that he's not only immune to breath/magic attacks for a time but he also shoots the damage that would have been done by these to the whole team back to Baramos! This passive way of doing damage actually out-damages my heavy hitters at max attack. The best offense is a good defense, indeed. :3

The rest of my team are free to attack or buff as they feel like it while Northman uses forebearance. The only time things can go wrong is when magic mirror and reverse cycle aren't active yet, as Baramos loves to critical hit my other 3 team members during Northman's turns of set up. This strategy has been working well for me so far. ^_^

So do you guys play this game? Tell me about your team. ^^
