Share your stories about family members and gaming, whether they be awesome, heartwarming, or embarrassing.

I've my brother to thank for my interest in gaming. He's seven years older than me, so I grew up with an NES in the house. Some of my earliest memories are playing the Legend of Zelda and the first three Mario games. Later on we bought a Sega Genesis together.

My father spent a lot of time with me when I was a kid. I have fond memories of playing Mario Bros. 3 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with him. We must have beaten at least one of the three TMNT games together. Last year I showed him an online Scrabble game and he got pretty into that. From there he moved on to other flash games. When I got my PS3 he asked if he could have my PS2. Shortly after he bought a game for my PS3 so that he could play it, IL2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey and a joystick to go with it.

Awweh! That's sweet (: My parents never showed an interest in my gaming till i got into shooters...

I remember one time playing BF:BC2 and my dad was in the room...
*in game*
Spawn with a sniper equipped with a red dot sight, some c4 and a machine pistol.
Jump on a quad and drive to the objective, being ninja and dodging tank shells.
C4 the side of the building, but i see an enemy on my map so i hip fire my sniper and get a kill. Go in and switch to his kit (medic). I set the charge and get a 4man spray through the front door. Switch kits back and jump quickscope out of the door. Throw a few c4 on a tank. objective blows. I knife someone and hit my C4 getting a tank kill. I pick up an engineer kit and rpg the first floor landing of a house getting not one but three more kills. I empty my hand gun into someone guarding the next objective while most of their team is either dead or skirmishing the rest of mine. I plant the next charge and squat over an ammo box for a resupply. The charge is down and I toss some c4 onto a vacant tank before turning and climbing into the roof of a barn. Throw down a motion mine and my map is swarming red towards me. I hit the c4 and get a double. Throw the last c4 down the ladder from the side killing 3 more. people climb the ladder but i knife them killing 2 more before i start getting shot from beneath. I jump out of the window getting a lucky 180 noscope on a medic eyeing me up on my jump. I crawl around the fence but alas someone is waiting with a mounted rpg.
*out of the game*
Me hunched over my xbox controller staring in concentration at the 72" in front of me. My dad with his hands on his ears and mouth gawking.

He was impressed as I was tbh with my twitch shooting getting a casual 20kill streak.

My only other gaming story of note would be my 1000 hours in 63days... I think i worked out that that averages 16hours of monster hunter a day. With 5hours of school that i cant game through, leaves 4hours for food, sleep and homework... And that was for over 2months... -_- Im sort of half proud about that. The rest of me says id rather be out but then I wouldn't have a 4figure game time to boast about.... (:

Back in the day (when I was 9), I could never throw Bowser at the right time to hit the bombs in Super Mario 64. So my dad asked me to hand him the control. He stomped Bowser's sorry ass. I was in awe of my dad for about a week afterward.

Another fun time is whenever I had a game where you had to button mash as fast as possible. If I couldn't get it, I'd hand it over to my dad. If he couldn't do it, he'd hand it to my eldest sister. If she couldn't do it, she'd hand it over to my middle sister. If SHE couldn't do it, it was impossible for gods and men.

I play little big planet with Mel and get in trouble for leaving her behind, even when there's a race section.
I guess I can't help being competitive.

I've been an avid gamer for as long as I can remember. I don't have too many notable stories though. My younger brother is also pretty into gaming, and he's been my player 2 since he was able to hold a controller, it seems. Oh the adventures we've had...

Anyway, one somewhat humorous story happened just recently. Since I was and still am stuck at my grandma's, and my brother was away visiting some other relatives, my mom was the only one at home, and someone had to download a certain DLC pack before it stopped being free. So it was up to me...to guide my mom, whose gaming knowledge does not extend far past Frogger, through the process over the phone, in minute detail. It was like the guy with the schematics telling the other guy how to defuse the bomb. Got it done though, eventually. It was just funny because she had absolutely no clue what was going on. I'm sure some of you can relate.

My dad is actually the one who got me into video games. He had a game boy (And I mean the original game boy, those awesome blocky ones) with Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and Tetris, which was more than I needed to fall in love with video games. He'd always help me through the Zelda dungeons (they're a lot harder when you're young) and he showed me that Tetris has cut scenes in it if you're good enough!
Anyway, it's kind of the other way around now, as I teach him a lot about his games. I'm glad I could return the favor.

Let me guess... Was it the Brink pack?

I think it was my cousin that got me into games. My first handheld was a Game Boy Advance SP, with a Pokemon Sapphire cart and another cart with a shitload of games. Eventually I worked my way to a FireRed and Emerald. I loaned Golden Sun (Both games) from my cousin and played the hell out of them.
I still remember those days when I knew a lot more than my friends about them Pokemanz gamez.

Eventually I got a PSP, and my cousins threw me into Monster Hunter. This was around 3 years ago. We played quite a bit of co-op MH, and a little of God Eater earlier this year. I'm surprised at how much better I am at MH now, I used to suck like any random player.

There are so many memories with my brothers in gaming. You guys remember the Ratchet and Clank series? We took turns grinding that game out for 100%. Before that was Pokemon, oh dear we couldn't afford a gameboy so it was all emulators back then on a big CRT monitor in summer. Damn sweaty effort catching those 150 pokemon...

My older cousin and I played games together when we were younger, one of my fondest memories was playing TMNT IV: Turtles in Time coop. My father and I used to coop in Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country. Now that I live with my boyfriend and his family, we play games together somewhat often. His brother is pretty much addicted to games, and I've helped him coop a couple of times for his achievement's sake--like in a madden game and a Simpson's game. My boyfriend and I trade pokemon and play Phantasy Star Online/Universe and Monster Hunter together, which works out nicely.

It all started with Super mario world on the Snes, everyone at home used to play it my parrents included I cant remember how much times my mother let me play those castles.
Now all my parrents do when they see me gaming is owh its that monster hunter right? I remember that monster and then my dad starts acting like he can do it better... I should put the snes downstairs again.

I remember being pretty young and my dad, my older brother and I all sitting around the TV playing donkey kong country 1 and 2. Sometimes I would eat my kids cuisine while I watched them play lol. We would also play super mario bros. taking turns and having laughs (and fits of anger lol) And cant forget TMNT on SNES! Im pretty sure we beat it :)

As I got a little older my older brother didnt play with us as much but my dad and I got into Goldeneye for N64, man that was a blast.. We were pretty good and it was always fun. And of course, Mario Kart with my dad AND mom would even join in rarely :) Sometimes we would have the whole family racing.

Ive been playing games as long as I can remember and even now dad and I will pick up Modern Warfare 2 and do some spec ops occasionally or whatever else I can get him to play :)

But now I have a LOT of little brothers who all play games and are disturbingly good at them lol. So we will play arena mode in MHTri every once in a while and such :)
