In this thread I will show you every single game that makes CoD and BF look like shit. This Thread will be dedicated to the true masterpieces of gaming. This is what War gaming is about.

Operation Flashpoint Cold War Crisis/Arma Cold War Assault:

Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis, or now called Arma: Cold War assault, Was the first of it's kind. It integrated realism, but yet is very fun. With it's huge maps (whole Islands to be exact), It took war gaming to a whole new level. With the freedom to make your own missions, and superb multiplayer I will give this game a 9.3/10

Arma: Armed Assault:

Arma took the OF engine and gave it some graphical tweaks, along side with some gameplay adjustments. Fight the war in Afghanistan in this fantastic shooter. 8.5/10

Arma 2:

Arma 2 took everything from Arma and OF and improved it ten fold. This game is truly a masterpiece, with it's non-linear gameplay, and it's terrific multiplayer. This is one of my favorites. 9.8/10

Men of War: Assault Squad:

Let's rewind the clock to World War 2, for this RTS. Men of War is fantastic, it implements realism, strategy, tactics, and fun. The strategy is unlike any other WWII RTS, it possesses weapon ballistics, master tactics, and the ability to take direct control. With the ability to move any specific units you want, and have them shoot where you want, with specific ammo adds tactics that very few games have. It also has an inventory system, so you may use items at your will. But watch out for ammo, you don't want to run out! This one really shines online, so gather some friends, and kill some Jerry's! Or become those Krauts ;) 9/10

IL-2 Sturmovik 1946

IL-2 is a WWII air combat sim, and very fun at that. Very realistic, and fun to play with friends. 8.5/10

Red Orchestra:

You can play as the Germans or Soviets. It implements bullet physics, and a nice does of realism. Where you shoot counts, shot in the leg? Don't expect to be running. Shot in the arm or hand? Expect to drop your weapon, and horrible accuracy. 9/10

Battlefield 3 Beta

Scratch Bad company 1 and bad company 2, let's act as if they never existed. For now, let's make it BF2 and BF3.
Where do I start... Imagine BF2 as a cupcake with frosting, it's good, really good. Now imagine you have sprinkles and put them on, now it is better.

That's all BF3 is, sprinkles. The shitty kind at dollar tree. The kind that taste like plastic.

BF3 implements new features, guns, vehicles, physics, and graphics; but it takes away from one major thing, gameplay.

Pretty cupcake huh? Doesn't mean it taste like it looks. With this game I got CoD mixed with disappointment, and lots of it.
"Oh, Zanta just cares about realism, that's why" No. I am judging this game based off of the foundation that BF2 put it. BF3 just simply does not have the "Battlefield" feel to it any more. It has the feel it was aiming for, and that happened to be the "CoD" feel.

What do I mean by "CoD" feel? Run and Gun, spray and Pray. "Well that has to deal with realism sir zanta!" No, I am not taking it off of realism at all. I am judging the game on what its 'spose to be. It took everything BF2 had and re-painted it, with an ugly blue. Seriously, the game may look good, but they went waaaayyyyy overboard with the special effects. It actually takes away from the gameplay, cause you can't see what the fuck you're doing.

The gameplay, like I said, fast-paced, run and gun, only with open spaces and vehicles (which I haven't experienced in the beta.)

I am going to end the review short, for this isn't my official review, until the game is released, and I play it on the PC.

But for now;

7.6/10

More will be added, with more info.

No I am not, Men of War is better in every aspect.

CoH has 2 factions. MoW 6.

CoH is terribly unrealistic, and nothing but brain-dead fast pace shoot.

Also this is my thread, not yours :). You can make your own ;)

CoH has 4 factions! I might just try Men of War. Is it good? I like CoH because of how tactical it is, and how each faction can customise from 3 unique doctrines. I'd like to know what Men of War offers before I go and get it. Mind an elaborated review?

Weapon ballistics.. Specific ammo and direct control.. Does the game involve structure and emplacement construction as well?

I don't have steam =_=". For now anyways. I'll be sure to add your id if I do decide to make one. So units are bought as reinforcements? Or are there no reinforcementsor unit purchase, with the army to be used in each skirmish predetermined like in Total War?

You buy them as the battle progresses. You have a certain limit of man power though, so spend wisely. With strategic shots, a well placed grenade, or good use with a flamethrower, you can take over the opposed players armor/art/vehicle/guns.

The unit and resource system looks similar to "Order of War". "Order of War" was a disappointment to me though, mostly because of how slow things are and how uninvolved I feel to the whole combat going on. Is Men of War faster paced? What do you think about "Order of War"? I will definitely be researching Men of War more when I get back home.

Men of war has been out a lot longer then Order of War, with Faces of War. Order of War isn't a good game at all. As far as the fast paced action, depends what mode you are playing, who you are playing with, and how you play. It's not going to be like CoH because it implements realism.

Can you highlight the differences you've been referring to as realism?

Get the demo, and you will see :)

Also, make sure you have WWII gun/armor/art and general weapon knowledge before you play.

I have some basics, though not too much. I'll try to get the demo, and perhaps go check if this thing has a wikia. They should have detailed explanations on the armaments in-game.

The wiki's ok. I'm pretty sure I'll take up the Allied. Probably the Commonwealth. So.. Should I start purchase from Men of War, then Red Tides, and finally Assault Squad in order to unlock all units and factions? Or do I just buy Assault Squad and I'll have it all? What's Vietnam? Is it out too?

Just get Assault squad, It has everything, although it's mainly for multiplayer. Vietnam isn't out yet, so you will have to wait for that one.

Yes sir. I see the arsenal is pretty much complete in Men of War. Fascinating! Any playing tips, suggestions or anything for future reference?
