The ship finally arrived at its destination, pulling into the docks of Ryudo Village. The hunters were gathered in a small room in the ship, waiting for the signal that they were allowed to exit. The ship bobbed in the rough water - it was the monsoon season, and the weather was pretty rough at this time of year.

The door opened, revealing a rugged-looking man with a thick black beard. He was the captain of this ship - Captain Demille.

"Awright, poppies," he said to the three hunters. "We've arrived at Ryudo. Now get your ass out there."

As the captain turned to leave, he hesitated briefly. "Oh, and a Guild messenger gave you hunters a message," he grunted, stroking his beard. "He said to find lodging first. The rest of the hunters will be arriving in Ryudo later today." With that, he left.

It's probably best if we all look at each other's character information, to save ourselves from writing and reading long paragraphs of description (of equipment, appearance, etc.).
Though here I am contradicting myself and writing up said paragraph for you guys to read. :P

-

Among the hunters in the room was one dressed in samurai-esque armor, made primarily of black and golden fur. Most people could identify it as the fur of the Pelagus Rajang, which was known and feared for its monstrous power, being one of the most dangerous monsters in all of Minegarde.
Further matching the samurai style of the hunter were two curved swords at his left hip, one being a katana and the other a black bokken.
Crisscrossed on his back were two longswords. One had semblance to the common longsword "Iron Katana," and the other to the also common "Bone Katana," though the latter was particularly different in that it was black.

The hunter brushed off the captain's lack of respect, stood from his seat and stretched some before exiting the room. Upon coming up to the upper deck he was blasted with sunlight and the smell of the ocean, but he continued off the ship and onto the docking area.

-
ooc:
Would our characters know the general layout of the city, the one you gave us in the sign up thread (12 being the lodging area, 3 being the docks and trading area, etc. etc.), or would they have to find their way around?

Nick departed the ship humming quietly to himself and calmly followed the other two hunters out onto the docking area.

@DB: You will have little idea about how the village is shaped, but you know a bit of info (the info I gave you guys in the sign-up thread)
If any of you missed it, I'll just write something up now.

Everyone, I'll assume you all exited the ship at the same time.

As the three hunters exited the narrow cabin in which they had been waiting, they were presented with the sight of a large harbour, filled with boats of all shapes and sizes. Some were local fishing boats, waiting for repairs, while others were travelling merchant boats, seeking a quick buck from the vast population of the village.

"Ah, so that's how you three look like!" A shrimpy-looking boy ran up to the three hunters, a foolish smile planted on his face. He looked like a teenager, and judging by his build he wasn't the strongest sailor on the boat.

"I've been wondering how you guys look like. The captain has been ordering me here and there, so I never really got a chance to talk to you..." Before anyone could speak, he began babbling again. "Oooh, nice armour! What is is made of? Nice weapons! What hunter rank are-"

The sailor was interrupted as another sailor, the first mate of the ship, knocked him soundly in the head. "Oh shaddup, you damn fool," he growled. "Do what th' captain asked ya to do. We don't got much time 'ere - Captain Demille wants us to set sail by evening."

As the first mate walked off in a huff, the teenage sailor sighed in relief. "Whoo, that guy gives me the creeps. Hey, you guys wanna get off the ship, huh? Well then, follow me."

The three hunters followed the boy through the ship. The sailors were all yelling and cursing at each other, unloading the cargo that was to be sold. There was a particularly precious piece of cargo they were unloading - a Ballista Cannon, most likely brought here to be mounted on the fort-like walls of the village.

The boy brought them to a small wooden bridge that had been hastily erected to allow people to get off. "Oh! I almost forgot," said the boy suddenly. He unfurled a piece of parchment that had been hidden in his pocket. "Here's a map. You should find it useful."

"Alright now," said the boy enthusiastically, "I will tell you about the most popular places in this huge village."

"Hmm... Inns. The first one that comes to mind is the Akantor's Den. It's one of the largest buildings in the village, bar the Guild hall. It is medium priced, so hunters frequent this inn. It's painted red - you can't miss it. Oh, and the Napping Narga - it has a tavern downstairs, and you can always hear drunk customers arguing. Or, you can go to the Deus Fatalis inn. The Fatalis inn is bloody expensive though..."

The boy craned his head. "What else... Restaurants? Oh, I know a few. The most popular ones are the Lao-Shan Licks fast food joints. There is one in every section of the village, and they serve delicious burgers. And... oh yeah, since I mentioned the Akantor Den, I probably should mention the Ukanlos Lair. It's a medium-priced restaurant that serves all types of food from all over the world. Otherwise... hmmm. The Altaroth Fruit-Stand is the place to go if you want fruits or vegetables, and the Barioth Bakery is where you can buy various types of baked food. Of course, if you like meat, visit the Tigrex Steakhouse. They serve from a large menu full of meat. And... what else? I probably should mention the Baggi Beerhouse. Just don't get drunk before a quest though."

"Oh, and I shouldn't forget smiths! The Guild smith produces all types of standard-issue weapons, and can even upgrade some high-rank weaponry. However, if you hunters want something better, visit the specialized smiths. The God's Furnace store can upgrade most bladed weapons, and can even work with some elder dragon materials. The Bulldrome Bashers are a pair of twins who are considered gods at upgrading blunt weapons too. Otherwise, uh... I shouldn't tell you this, but the Black Market has lots of great smiths."

Satisfied with his explanation, the boy stepped back proudly. "If you don't have any questions, you're free to leave!"

After several minutes of walking, Nick arrived at the Guild Hall. It was easily the biggest building in Ryudo, and had a large flag bearing the guild emblem flapping in the air on the roof.

Nick tried to enter the guild hall, but was stopped by a stern-looking man in Alloy armour. He had the insignia of the Ryudo Guard Corps, a dragon with three heads, imprinted on his chestplate.

"Guild card, hunter," he said gruffly.

@Kibagami: Did we each get a map? (Or did Sunfish just run off with the only one?)
I forgot the ship and harbor is full of sailors... :P

The Rajang hunter listed to the kid as best he could. He knew he was going to forget most of what was said, so he only tried to firmly remember certain things.
The Akantor's Den and Napping Naruga were candidates for lodging.
The Ukanlos Lair was probably where he'd be frequenting for good, since it had "all the foods in the world," meaning he could get a balanced meal there.
The God's Furnace would probably be his smith, though the black market piqued his curiosity. The legality of that market had it's inherent issues though.

"That should be all, thanks." He said with a smile and nod to the boy. "I guess I'll be heading off then. See you around."

~Jason~

Jason stepped off the ship, heading towards the north where the inns mostly were.

After several steps, he was stopped by a Melynx sitting in a Gagua-drawn cart.

"Hello, nya!" The Melynx meowed at him. "Are you looking for transport? For a small fee, I can send you anywhere in the village! Its much faster than walking on your two skinny human legs, nya!"

ooc: You have the choice of riding on the 'taxi' or not. I'm using this as an interim as you didn't tell me which inn you wanna go to...

~Arsen~

The boy grinned at the hunter. "Yeah! I wanna become a strong hunter like ya, mister!" he said, waving the Rajang-clad hunter off.

~Nick~

The guard inspected the guild card quickly, flipping it round to make sure it was genuine. After certifying that it was indeed real and not a fake, he nodded and gave the guild card back to Nick.

"Welcome to Ryudo, Mister Telos," he said. "And you're one of them hunters who are gonna be taking on the Kushala Daora, eh? Best of luck in that endeavour, sir."

Nick entered the guild hall. It was filled with hunters from every single possible region in Minegarde - people wearing armours made from monster materials from all over the world. There were several tables with benches, where hunters sat down and downed glasses of golden beer. Some of the more aloof hunters stood alone in corners. There was a staircase to the left, with the sign 'Guild Offices' painted in bright yellow paint above the staircase. A burly-looking guard stood guard over the staircase - the offices were apparently off limits to non-Guild personnel.

To the right, waiters ran back and forth, carrying jugs of beer to and fro back and forth. There was a large board labeled "Monster Hunter Quest Board", and next to it was a small counter with the sign "Monster Hunter Registration". A woman in a red Guild uniform was sitting behind the counter, absentmindedly twirling a pencil in boredom. It appeared that there was no-one at the counter - for now.

ooc: Sunfish, you should register with the guild to declare your arrival. The same goes to the other two players.

"Nah, that's ok. But, I might want a ride to the Guild Hall later. I'll be at the Akantor's Den." Jason said to the Felyne, trying to be as polite as possible.

Interesting idea with the taxi's. It makes this place feel more like a city.
Would you mind if I "borrowed" (stole) that idea for Maskata? :P
Out of curiosity, do you live in the city (in real life)?

-

The Rajang hunter waved to the kid as he walked off north west, and then fully turned in that direction and continued walking. He remembered the housing area of the city was supposed to be in the north end of the city, so since he was at the east end currently, going north west would hopefully bring him there.

As he walked along, he observed the city around him, looking out for anything interesting.

-
ooc:
If nothing interesting in particular comes up, that's fine.

"Wish me luck." Nick said to the guard as he walked towards the sign that said registration. Not really sure how registration took place in this particular city he stood awkwardly at the desk until he was acknowledged.

~Jason~

"That's fine, nya," said the cat. The Melynx tugged on the Gagua's reins, and the bird sped off in a random direction.

After walking for almost half an hour, Jason finally arrived at the Akantor's Den. It was unmistakable - the whole building was painted a bright crimson, and quite a few hunters walked in and out. Due to the Kushala Daora's presence in the forest, the guild had ceased all hunting activities in the surrounding area, leaving the hunters in the town with nothing to do.

As he entered the inn, the first thing he noticed was the absolutely humongous Akantor skull mounted on the wall. There was a small counter under the skull. No one was at the counter currently, and Jason wondered what would happen if the Akantor skull dropped onto the counter. Everyone in the immediate vicinity would most likely be crushed to death.

(assuming he walks up to the counter) There was a rather pretty woman in a green uniform sitting behind a counter. "Hi! What can I do for you, hunter?" she said brightly.

~Arsen~

ooc: No problem with taking the idea. And yes, I've lived in cities all my life.

Arsen walked through what appeared to be a fishing bazaar. Fishermen from all over the world had set up stalls, selling their recent catches. He noted that due to the Kushala Daora's presence, there were many empty, unoccupied stalls, as some fishermen had decided to avoid the village lest the Daora attacked their fishing boats.

After he walked past the bazaar, he entered the housing district. This area was mostly filled with houses, and few people were wandering the village. He walked a bit further, and noticed several inns lined up neatly. There were plenty of hunters walking around aimlessly - because of the Daora, all hunting activities in the area had been ceased.

~Nick~

"Oh, hi, hunter," the woman behind the counter said lazily. "If you're gonna register, you gotta gimme your Guild Card."

The Rajang hunter noticed the lack of activity with some upset. This Kushala Daora really was a problem that needed to be solved, and things were probably worse than just what he'd seen. The sooner the monster was repelled or slain, the better.

The hunter started to wander around the housing area, looking for the 'Akantor's Den' or 'Napping Naruga.' Whichever came first.
