I've been interested in this for a while now and after reading Gabe's impressions of the friends and family beta in going to pre-order soon as its up.

I'm either going to roll a Bounty Hunter first or a Sith warrior.

The Sith have always been cooler than the Jedi. Never saw the 'good' ending to KotOR, even. I mean, passion = power. Plus, Force lightning and life manipulation in addition to the namby-pamby push-pull and control. If I join, either making or heading straight for a guild named [S I T H L O R D S] ^^

the more info that is released, the less excited i am about this game.

its the same ole same ole.

i play a lot of LOTRO and that is a very story-heavy MMO... it was a bit insulting to hear the devs say old republic will be the first story-based-MMO.

ill wait until it is released.

Sapien, have you seen any of the NPC interaction?
You have a choice wheel like Mass Effect and you get dark or light side points
for your actions. I think you can get different items based on your morality score etc.

Also woooo!

Double post be damned!

Ordered the CE off Gamestop as Amazon was sold out.

Here's a bigger pic of it:

*Ahem* Bad news for those of you outside the US/EU

http://kotaku.com/58...sia-australasia

Now, this article doesn't say it won't ever come out to those places, but it won't have the same release date. Not much comfort, admittedly, but "it's coming".

Yeah but ordered from Game Stop online.

There's rumors that EA might block IP's from country's that don't have the game at launch.
If they do I'll just use a proxy IP service until it comes out here.

Is it me? Or does every Sith have to have pasty skin and a mouth covering? Do they have buck teeth? An overbite? I know Malek had no lower jaw, so his mouth covering was actually cool... In a way...

Darth Malgus doesn't start off that way, if you watch the cinematics backwards, Return, Hope then Deceived.
You see that as the war goes on he gets more and more messed up, hence the mouth mask.

Most Sith seem to go somewhat cyborg as the dark side eats away at them in one from or another.
It's to show their corruption

Darth Malgus is very Vader which is probably Bioware's intention as they want
to stick to the movies as much as possible.

I understand most, and I also understand they can't make it work on ALL computers. That's not their fault.

This laptop is old anyway, been looking at getting a desktop, but that's neither here nor there.

The trailers are cool, the world is interesting but this gameplay is not.

I hope the name star wars makes it sell fairly well. If there is a free trial period I might try it but so far this seems somewhat odd.

The whole party gets dark side points? Dice rolls determine the leader of an interaction? Seems like disjointed gameplay to me. ANd it is self imposed too, they are using light dark side mechanics to achieve this effect and it is not really necessary. Plus I am sure some party members might try to shoot for an all light or dark side plot point such that these choices of expediency will put a huge dent on that. But again the limiter is self imposed by the designers.

What if a party leader roll hits on someone who chooses the total opposite of what the party in general has been doing? Even if that choice is not designed into an interaction doesn't that just basically equal a hand-hold? How do parties form up?

Plus what will the end-game be? If it is another grind-athon for "leet" gear, I am not gonna like it. I think I need to see more.

It's never that interesting to watch anyone play an MMO. It's far more interesting to play one yourself.

You get points on depending what you choose. So if the rest of party chooses the dark side and you choose light side you will still get light side points.
Yes dice rolls determine the leader of an interaction., so if you picked light side and won the dice roll the outcome would of been the light side choice.

Parties form up the same way as any mmo. This is a "dungeon" aka flashpoint in the video.
They will have queuing system in the game but might not be out at launch. Otherwise you will party up by adding members to a group like you would in any other mmo.

End game content hasn't been discussed that much so far.

All we know is that there is one raid (operation) so far and you can access it with the gear you get from questing.
Operations will be 8-16 players, a group is 4 players. Everyone will get a bag of loot on certain mobs that will contain items for your class or a token to buy items from a npc vendor.

The leveling is basically like a single player rpg almost, you have an companion and all the npc interaction is like mass effect.
Every class has its own storyline and republic and empire do not share any quests at all.

Not sure I like one person directing the course of the game like that. I am sure the the light side people would've wanted to do the light side part of the quest. Plus the fact that after choosing that they remain part of the group with no protest? Seems odd to me, I would be a jerk and probably leave the party at that point lol. But that is just me.
