maybe wool is a scarce commodity, so you are only allowed to get it with certain armor pieces

Ok, if we accept that Jhen filters the sand, it would benefit from a way of removing the sand rapidly

Perhaps that's why it fires off its rocks? I'm sure you've noticed it seems to consume a large amount of sand before launching them.

This sounds like a good explination. Jhen must have a organ whose sole job is to compress the loose sand into rocks and expell them as waste. So he's not just flinging rocks at you... he's flinging enormous balls of poop.

How are dragons 'weak' to other dragons? ... (I believe that someone once stated that dragons have some kind of isolated venom inside that is deadly to them, but meh)

This could also be a decent explination. Jho, Ceadus, and Alatreon must all have an organ, like venom sacks, that concentrates impurities within their bodies and secretes them in a gaseous form either through the mouth (Jho) or through the skin (Ala, Ceadeus).

Oddly enough these impurities appear to be radio-active or electromagnetic in nature and cause weapons and armor to corrode, thus fusing armor for paralysis effect, or taking the edge off weapons for the negative affinity effect. When you use a Dragon weapon against a Dragon you are essentially forcing the impurities back into its blood stream through the wounds that you create.

Here's a few beauties I thought of:

How does a chestpiece give hearing protecting? I can understand a helmet but not any other part of the armor.

Perhaps the certain armors that offer Earplugs have a sort of seal, one that blocks out any noise. Say a seal between a helmet and chestpiece. That particular combination of armor pieces would block out noise, where if you were to wear a different chestpiece it wouldn't seal, allowing noise to get in.

Now of course, how would the hunters breath in sealed armor? Obviously they need oxygen.

So Jhen is like Congolala? Where's the "Stinky" status ailment?

While it is technically waste material there isn't much biological mass in there (mostly sand), so there is no extreme odor that causes the intense nausea associated with giant monkey poop?

Also, how comes you can block a roar? Maybe a lance would actually shield your ears but not a Greatsword surely?

Obviously, holding a shield up wouldn't really help with a roar. However, I think that it does show the hunter 'preparing himself' so the roar doesn't catch him off-guard, and he can cope with it.

The Earplugs skill, as far as I can tell, is just a game-play mechanic. There's no real reason for the hunter not to have the High-Grade Earplugs skill at all times, apart from the fact it would make the game just that bit easier.

Maybe sound in monster hunter travels in rays and not waves. Put something between you and the sound rays and you don't hear anything!

but that wouldnt help, because it expels all the way round the monster's head, so it would echo onto you from things...

and who says that it has to make sense, after all, it is a game...

I think that trying to find explanations for things is immense fun.

We should keep going instead of saying "the game doesn't hafta make sense."

How is Joe able to walk, let alone run and fight? When he enrages, his muscles rapidly grow and expand, so to compensate his skin has OPEN SPOTS that allow it to stretch. That is a crippling ailment right there, an open spot in your skinning revealing bare muscle? Not only is that basically a huge weak point, unprotected muscle is extremely vulnerable to infection.

How is Ibirujo able to function with gaping holes in his skin?

he have a high metabolism (or wth is) and a high regeneration, after he eats her body start immediatly curing the scars on the body, turning joe a overpowered beast :)

I can't answer your question exactly Xenomorph, but if you notice in-game, Deviljho's rage mode doesn't last very long at all. As you said, during this mode his skin stretches and reveals weak point and scars of previous battles. Perhaps Deviljho controls himself enough to only stay in rage mode long enough to prevent series injury to his weakpoints, thus explaining why his rage mode doesn't last very long.

As I said, it's not an exact answer.

Hm, we all agreed in the old theory topic that gravity is much less in Minegarde, that would explain how Darkevildeviljho can move.

Yes, the theory of low gravity is a pretty accepted one. It allows for hunters falling immense heights unarmed, pretty much everything that can fly flying so easily, all the Pelagus's crazy jumps from one area to the next, and many other things.

It was also suggested that the atmosphere is more oxygen rich, allowing for the bigger-than-normal insects; Hornetaur, Vespoid, Altaroth, Bnahabra and most notable Queen Vespoid.

Here's one; in 70 odd-pages (if memory serves right) of the old Monster Hunter Theory Topic, we never did work out how Crimson Fatalis (seemingly) summons meteors.

Hm, I believe to remember that someone elaborated a theory, but I don't remember the content. I have no idea how Fatalis does that, no knowledge in meteorolgy (pun not intended).

Another question: How come that monster team up with Peco after being summoned by it? Peco= Competitor= Must Die. And nope, I don't believe there's pheromones involved, so don't give me that one.

Barroth's head is not rocks, its made of bone ridges. Its his nasal passages. Meaning that its not as dense as it looks because of the open passageways that he uses to breath.
