@  Emitan : (23 July 2014 - 07:19 PM) FU monsters die too fast. I kill them before they limp
@  Emitan : (23 July 2014 - 06:13 PM) I can't detect a color change until burnt :/
@  Orpheo : (23 July 2014 - 05:03 PM) When the music stops playing that means you need to start paying attention. Very quickly the meat will shift slightly darker (undercooked), darker (well done), and darkest (burnt). You have to push at just the right time during the color change.
@  Emitan : (23 July 2014 - 02:37 PM) ...or not
@  Emitan : (23 July 2014 - 02:32 PM) It seems like I'm supposed to stop cooking at the end of the song instead of when it changes colors.
@  dunpeal : (23 July 2014 - 02:16 PM) Yeah, Monster Hunter almost makes me as hungry as the imagination food in Hook
@  Orpheo : (23 July 2014 - 02:12 PM) Oh, I almost forgot; for 5,000 Pokke points (I think) you can purchase a higher end BBQ spit allowing you to roast meat easier. On a side-note, is it just me or does the food in Monster Hunter make everyone extremely hungry? Not only the BBQ'ing but also the look of that spread on your dining table after the cats cook you a meal.
@  Orpheo : (23 July 2014 - 01:50 PM) Practice petting poogie, that may help. There's also an early Gathering Village Quest that helps you learn. If still facing trouble you can eventually have your kitchen cat(s) cook them for you between missions. Since you're starting over you won't have access to Alchemy yet unless you craft some gems into an Alchemy armor set, then you can combine Burnt Meat with an Insect Husk to produce Raw Meat so you've another chance to cook it right. :)
@  dunpeal : (23 July 2014 - 01:31 PM) Trying to cook them in the first game has been miserable compared to 3U
@  Jask : (23 July 2014 - 07:19 AM) I didn't realize the timing changed. Been a while since I played Unite.
@  Emitan : (23 July 2014 - 06:39 AM) I'm not used to cooking steaks in FU. They're always burnt.
@  Orpheo : (23 July 2014 - 03:28 AM) I'm sure you can guess what the predominant language for the JP version is... ;) Also, they have P3rd in JP which I think many are playing rather than Unite; that's just a guess thought as I can't read Japanese and the 'Find Room' feature doesn't work because MHFU is technically a different game than MH2G, so it doesn't automatically match you up.
@  Orpheo : (23 July 2014 - 03:26 AM) EU version seems to get a lot of people that speak other languages like Spanish, French, and Italian; I'm not bilingual and found English speakers rare.
@  Orpheo : (23 July 2014 - 03:25 AM) I used to have all 3 versions but now I just use U.S.
@  Emitan : (23 July 2014 - 03:22 AM) It's not a MH game
@  Jask : (23 July 2014 - 03:11 AM) Oh, remaster of P3rd HD. I was thrown off by the mention of PSP.
@  Emitan : (23 July 2014 - 03:09 AM) Yes that's what I meant. It comes with the Japanese version of ad hoc party
@  Jask : (23 July 2014 - 03:08 AM) He meant the Japanese version of the PS3 Ad Hoc Party program.
@  Emitan : (23 July 2014 - 03:04 AM) I do own a PSP remaster that has the Japanese version.
@  Astraeus : (23 July 2014 - 01:49 AM) just use the japanese version of adhoc party. the us and eu version never left launch version, while the jp version was updated. voice chat and room chat work fine now. and it looks nicer

Download link.

For Windows only.
If you get the error message saying that the application configuration is incorrect, you need to download and install the Microsoft C++ 2008 Redistributable.

Hopefully everything is obvious enough in terms of usability.

You can now directly import all your charms from your PSP save data. No CFW required. It only reads from your save; it doesn't change anything, so it should be completely safe from corruption. If you're paranoid though, you can always back it up first. It's good practice to back up your MH saves regularly, anyway.

Feedback appreciated!

Amazing, glad to see there's a MHP3rd version.
I'll be sure to use your A.S.S whenever I need to find a set (The Unite one helped me out quite alot). :P

I'll post on GFAQs soon. Also, any translations will be in the future, after all the functionality is done. I'll keep those offers in mind, though, for when I'm ready.

Upcoming features:
-"My charms" manager
-Right-click on charm to see table and rarity/odds of getting it
-Check for updates button (link to this page)

Anything else I should be adding?

No-one getting any mistakes/crashes?

I've been playing a lot of P3rd, so I've missed your ASS, Rhys. I'm stoked to see your ASS on the internet though, and when I get home I'm going to make sure I hit that ASS to make lots of sets. Hell, I might even abuse that ASS!

Very useful ASS. thank you so much.

it would be awesome if you put "Clear all/reset" button in future update lol (kinda annoying to manually clear stuff since it doesn't reset even when the program is closed). but what I wanted most is the My Charms option. great work work nevertheless.

The base defence is the total defence you get with no armor spheres applied. Max defence is with all armor spheres applied, including the extra upgrades unlocked by beating Amatsu.

I can't really think of the point of the base defence, tbh. 'Twas a carry over from the MHFU ASS, where I didn't have the max defence data...

Have you made improvements to the search algorithm since MHFU? It seems to search a lot faster (regardless the amount of equipment in MHF3). That or I should defrag more often.

Hi Viki :)

The MHP3 ASS is slower due to all the charms that need to be searched. The smaller amount of equipment doesn't actually make that much difference - the major optimization is trimming the armor search space down to just the optimal pieces, and both games have similar numbers of "optimal" armor.

I updated the old MHFU ASS to make better use of multi-threading, and it's blazingly fast now, at least on modern (multi-core/hyperthreaded) CPUs.

I think the MHP3 ASS is still too slow, but I'm having trouble thinking of new ways to optimize it. The only thing I have yet to do is go over the core calculation and do a major optimization pass. No idea if it will help much, though.

[EDIT] Oh and to answer your question, yes the algorithm is improved. MHP3 actually made some things simpler, for example there are no decorations where the 1-slot version is better than the 2-slot (like there was for some skills in MHFU).
