I've always felt that these two weapons were incredibly similar, and I'm not entirely sure on what there differences are. How do you guys think that these weapons are different? Are there situations in which one will be better then the other?

Rapid-fire element > bow

Although running out of ammo always sucks.

It really depends what yr planning on using them on. Epic quests you would want a bow with multiple coatings or just take an hbg, that's if yr running solo. Lbg always runs out of ammo before you kill them all.

But other than that, lbg and bow both shine as support in multi.

I've always thought that the real reason the bow was introduced was to get more people to be gunners. When I started playing in mhf1 I never liked using the bowgun because I was afraid of running out of ammo.

Not true; you can gun most marathons with an LBG - Pride on the Line comes to mind (Black Blos/Black Gravios/Nargacuga; cleared easily with Lava Storm LBG) I use LBGs much more often than HBGs or bows; I find they kill faster - although that may just be the lack of a Lao cannon speaking.

LBG is better than Bow, but I prefer bow.

I've done it with the magus lamp with the eau, evade, bullet limit, load up set and I always ran out of ammo. Well I was only shooting elements and I kinda missed a lot. Ok nvm, my lack of aiming at the time was my fault. :b

Just get the Lao cannon and you should be good. XP

I shot it with AutoReload/EAU/Evade+2 and Lava Storm. Pellet 3 the Blos (bring about 25 combines to ensure death); Water/Normal 2 the Gravios (with luck, it'll die before the Normal 2, but its chest plate should be shot off quite easily) and Fire/Thunder the Narga (about 30 Thunders and all your Fires).

Do you think bows get targeted less in multiplayer since they attack less frequently? I really don't know much about aggro in monster hunter, and I don't have enough experience to back it up, but if bows get targeted less in multiplayer, it could be better for your team if it is made up of blademasters since hits hard for melee weapons to get hits when the monster you're fighting is chasing the gunner around the area.

What do you guys think?

IMO, the monster targets everyone equally and more so the lower yr life. Of course sneak an taunt skills change that.

I'm not so sure. I found this thread (Here) and it made me question how monster's target hunter's. It also confirmed an experience I had fighting an Akantor with a hammer along with two light bowgunners. I spent about half the fight chasing the damn thing around, but it was only once, and I might have been unlucky.
