Locking:
It's exactly what it sounds like, you keep the monster locked in place, allowing your teammates to damage the monster, uninterrupted. Locking is the process of using Traps and status effects (Paralysis and Sleep) to keep the monster in place. Your main goal is to paralyze the monster when its in a Pitfall Trap, once it gets out immediately place a shock trap under it. While it is in the shock, build up Paralysis, and Paralyze in the pitfall again.
I can't really tell you how to do this, everyone has their own style. How I would do it is Sleep -> Pitfall, Paralysis -> Shock Trap -> Sleep -> Pitfall Trap, Paralysis -> Shock Trap -> Shock Trap, Capture. You obviously won't always be able to capture the monster on the last trap, but your teammates still deal huge damage.
You'll want to have...
Uragaan+, with the Barrage Earring, gemmed for Status Attack up and Speed Setup
Just need a Speed Setup+10 OO Talisman
Which gives you...
Load Up
Recoil Down+2
Bombardier
Status Attack Up
Speed Setup
The gun that I would use...
Heavy Bowgun Barrel
Thundacrus Frame
Chaos Wing Stock
It will grant you a 4/5 Paralysis Load, and a 2 Sleep Shot lvl. 2 Clip
Trap Spam:
Basically like locking, except there are 4 Blademasters. For this to work, you need to either just have the timing down of how long the monster is in the trap, or just look it up. For example, if you know the monster will stay in the trap for 10 seconds, you'll want to count, sheath your weapon at 7, and set the trap as soon as it comes out if you're setting a shock, or 1-2 seconds before if you're setting a pitfall. Just keep on repeating until you all run out. Make sure to organize the order people are setting traps, to prevent to people form setting a trap at once. It's ideal to use 3 pitfalls, and 1 shock, so bring a shock trap, pitfall trap, 2 nets, and 2 trap tools, along with as many combo books as you can.
You'll want to have...
Any set, just attach a Speed Setup Talisman.
Sleep Bombing:
Basically, you just put the monster to sleep over and over and over again. It works best with gunners. Each time it falls asleep, lay down bombs, anywhere (bombs do fixed damage) and detonate them. As for detonating, make sure you do not hit the monster. Try to shoot just to the left of the bomb. This way, the bomb does 3x damage, not your shot. Kind of a cheap tactic, but reliable and efficient

Mechanics:
KO Move? Yes, Shield bash. Good for KO
Range: Shortest
Raw Damage Potential: Weak
Elemental Damage Potential: Very Strong
Can it block/roll? Yes, may knock you back, no negative side effects. Standard rolls.
Mobility: Best
The Sword and Shield has very short range. So aim for the legs and try to go for trips. You'll want to lead in with a jump attack, continue through your combo moves, and finish with the horizontal slice. Once it's tripped, its not a bad idea to do some KO damage to the monster's face.

Mechanics:
KO Move? Yes, most moves. Best for KO
Range: OK
Raw Damage Potential: Very Strong
Elemental Damage Potential: Very Weak
Can it block/roll? No block. Standard rolls
Mobility: Good
The Hammer is one of the best weapons for damage, and the best to KO monsters with. You'll want to super pound a monster as it turns toward you. You'll want to Triple Pound when the monster is KO'd or vulnerable (Taunting, tripped, trapped etc.). The hammer has the most "Launching" attacks, so be mindful of teammates. But remember, you have a hammer, it's your head.

Lance:
Spoiler
Mechanics:
KO Move? Yes, Shield bash. Worst for KO, hard to land
Range: Good
Raw Damage Potential: Good
Elemental Damage Potential: Good
Can it block/roll: Best block in game. Hops only
Mobility: Very Slow
The lance is definitely a great weapon. Just utilize countering, and your set to go. Remember that some attacks, like ones that hit multiple times, are better to shield advance through, or simply block. If you try to counter something like something like Rathian's triple fireball, you'll counter the first fireball, and get hit by the second. You'll rarely have an opportunity to use the shield bash

Great Sword:

Mechanics:
KO Move? Yes, GS Slap. Very Good for KO
Range: Very Good
Raw Damage Potential: Very Strong
Elemental Damage Potential: Very Weak
Can it block/roll? Good block in terms of health loss, but reduces Sharpness a good amount. Standard rolls
Mobility: Slow
Your main goal with the Great Sword is to land a level 3 charge, ideally on the weakest area of the monster. You'll want to hit the head as the monster turns, so begin your charge before it does. Landing any level of charge is good, landing a level 3 charge is even better. After you do, there's a good chance that it will stagger, so try to always slap after you land one. Try to block only when necessary, the sharpness loss is annoying. You have a very good range so be mindful of teammates.

Mechanics:
KO Move? No
Range: Very Good
Raw Damage Potential: Good
Elemental Damage Potential: Good
Can it Block/Roll? No block, Standard rolls, along with side hops after certain attacks.
Mobility: Good in Ax, Slow in Sword
Definitely a very fun weapon to use, and you look extremely cool when you use it, although I really do feel like it should be more powerful. You'll see a damage increase in Sword Mode, so use it whenever possible, but if you're facing a fast monster, Ax mode works well too. Try to stay away from ever using the infinite combo while in Ax mode (I realize how cool it looks >_>). A pretty good weapon for trips. When the monsters vulnerable, definitely use the blast move. You have a very good range so be mindful of teammates.

Does huge damage, but its kind of a cheap weapon. Just fill up your spirit gauge and spirit spam away. Utilize backslashes to avoid attacks if possible. YOUR RANGE IS HUGE AND ALL YOUR MOVES TRIP YOUR TEAMMATES. FOR THE SAKE OF GAWD STAY AWAY FROM YOUR TEAMMATES. Don't be that one guy... >>

Mechanics:
KO Move? Yes, Crag/Exhaust Shots
Range: Best
Raw Damage Potential: Varies
Elemental Damage Potential: Very Good
Can it Block/Roll? Can Block if a shield is attack, Light rolls/hops after shooting. Medium rolls. Heavy cannot roll after shooting
Mobility: Light- Very Good Medium- Good Heavy- Slow
There are 3 basic roles to the Bowgun. Damage: A gunner who focuses on doing damage. Status/Support: A gunner who focuses on inflicting status effects, and healing/Buffing teammates. Elemental: A gunner who focuses on doing elemental damage. Or a combination of these roles works well.

Shots:
Normal Shots
Spoiler
Unlike the two other basic shots, normal shots focus all damage on one area. The exception is normal shot lvl. 3, which I don't recommend using. The reason is that when the shot hits the monster, it ricochets off the monster. Not only is it hard to land this, but you won't be focusing all of the shots power. Definately use Normal lvl. 2 as your main shot. It's easy to use, and you can make up to 400 additional through combining.

Pierce Shots
Spoiler
All shot lvl.s work in the same way. The shots go through the monster hitting it along the way. You'll want to use pierce on long monsters such as Deviljho and Agnaktor. Another tip for piercing is to have a short range. This way the damage done by pierce is done in shorter increments. Pierce does a certain number of hits, say 7. With a long range, if you shoot a Deviljho's chest, it may hit the chest 3x, and the back 4x. With a shorter range it may hit the chest 5x and the back 2x.
Pellets
Spoiler
Don't recommend using them... they suck... end of discussion. Jk, here's why they suck. No control of where they hit the monster. You hit your teamates, and they do like no damage.
Elemental Shots
Spoiler
Still great in Tri, there are 5 different types. Fire acts like a normal round, thunder, freeze, and water act like a pierce round, and dragon shots enter the monster and drop down, piercing along the way, making it easier to hit one hitbox. Definitely use em on any monster. Just make sure you know what there weakest to.
Sub Shots
Spoiler
Don't use em... just underwater pellets
Others
Spoiler
Exhaust Shots. Extremely useful. They exhaust the monster and do ko damage if you hit the head. Best used in rage mode. Slicing Shots, they won't be able to cut the tail alone, but they help and do good damage. Recov Shots, they restore ALOT of health to your teammates with lvl. 2 or rapid lvl. 1

Piercing:
For it to go really fast, there needs to be...
1 Gunner with full Uragaan+ armor gemmed for Status Attack up and Speed Setup
Just need like a speed setup+10 Talisman
Gives you:
Recoil Down+3
Bombardier
Status Attack Up
Speed Setup
Defense up (S)
3 gunners with the setup
Diablos Cap+
Diablos Vest+
Diablos Arms+
Barioth Coat+
Black Leather Pants
2 gunners should use Combo Plus+10 OO and one should use Speed Setup +10 OO, Gem in Pierce All up and Evasion+1, (Ditch the Evasion if you need to)
Gives you
Pierce All Up
Pierce Shot Boost
Element Attack Down
Combo Plus/Speed Setup
Evasion+1
Adrenaline+2
The 3 Pierce gunners need to get adrenaline as quick as possible. You can either
A) Eat HP+40 Def up Medium (Meat+Dairy), and let Deviljho hit you with a strong attack
Eat HP-30 Stamina - 50 (Seafood+Dairy I think) and use a LBB+ and Small barrel bomb
As soon as you hit adrenaline, just start unloading Pierce level 3. Once you run out, combine more (Small Bone Husk+Pin Tuna), have Pierce level 3 in your speed combos. For the one pierce gunner who has Speed Setup, whenever Deviljho is in a pitfall trap, place a shock trap on the right side of Deviljho's neck, be careful not to set it too close to him (More on this later)
For the Status Gunner, check out the locking section
You should set a pitfall trap on Deviljho's leg before it wakes up. The reason for this is when Deviljho wakes up, it will step into the trap. Now, the only shock trap you are going to set is the very last. The reason the one pierce gunner was setting traps on Deviljho's neck, is because once Deviljho gets out of the pitfall, it will do a fake roar. As it does the fake roar, it will step into the shock trap. This gives you alot more time then if you were to set it. On the very last Shock (the one you set) it should be ready to capture.
This should give you really good times, just need to find good gunners (Especially the locker, this falls apart without a good one). This is by FAR the best way to farm timeworns in the game, and a great way to farm Deviljho parts, HR, money, and heavy armor spheres

Alatreon
Spoiler
Clusting: Yes, I did copy paste this from my other thread (and revised it).
Recently, I found a team of 4 gunners to perform a method of killing Alatreon called Clusting. What is Alatreon clusting you ask? It's a method where 4 gunners get on the wall and shoot clust lvl 2 at Alatreon's wings over and over and over again. (NO, THIS WILL NOT BREAK ALATREON'S HORNS).
So, what Equipment/Items do you need to perform this?
Gun Setup:
Rathling+ Barrel
Rathling+ Frame
Agnablaster Stock
Don't ask me what shots it has, for our purposes you just need to know it shoots 5 Clust lvl 2. (After load up/Clust S all up).
Armor:
Barrage Earring
Mutsu+
Mutsu+
Mutsu+
Mutsu+
OOO or recoil+4 Charm
Decorations: 2 ClustPlus gems, 3 Absorber gems, 2 Flinchfree gems
Skills: Recoil Down+3, Load Up, Clust S All Up
Items:
Book of Combos 1
Book of Combos 2
Book of Combos 3
Book of Combos 4
Book of Combos 5
Cool Drink x5
Potion x10
Large Barrel Bomb+ x2
Small Bone Husk x99
Wyvern Claw x50
Flash Bomb x5
Ammo:
Clust lvl 2 x5
*Make sure Clust lvl 2 is at the top of your speed combo list*
Walkthrough:
Go over the plan with your teammates, and decide who will flash bomb Alatreon (more on that later).
You obviously spawn with Alatreon right in front of you. Immediately after you spawn, lay down 2LBB's right where you are.
*IF YOU ARE NOT FLASH BOMBING*
After you set the bombs, run to the wall, do not drink a cool drink. Count to 3 in your head. On three, roll. This prevents you from getting the shudder animation when Alatreon spots you. Keep running for a bit, and as soon as you start doing the panic run, dive through Alatreon's scream. Once everyone gets to the wall, set your LBB+ at the spot where you climb (try to stack them, don't worry about detonating them, the clust's bomblets will). Climb the wall. If you are lucky and Alatreon is within range of a Poison shot, everyone shoot a poison shot, this will poison him. Load your Clust lvl 2 and then use your hunting horn (The flash bomber should arrive by now)
*IF YOU ARE FLASH BOMBING*
After everyone has set their bombs, set a small barrel bomb and step away. Drink a cool drink, and wait until after Alatreon roars. Immediately after, flash bomb him. You are then on a mad-dash to the wall. Once you get there, set your LBB+ where your teammates did, climb the wall and then load your clust lvl 2
After that...
The craziness begins. Alatreon will charge the wall and immediately get stuck. After that Alatreon will keep getting stuck in the wall. Start spamming clust lvl. 2. Shoot your clusts on his back in between his wings. Basically just keep repeating this.
A few guidelines:
DO NOT SHOOT ALTREON'S HORNS. The bomblets will shoot right back at you and shoot you and your teammates off the wall
Try to stay on the very right of the wall. If someone does hit the horns and everyone goes flying, there's an invisible wall to keep you from flying off the side, unlike the left side, where it's easier to fly off.
If you can't hit Alatreon's wings, hit his belly/legs
Stay near the back of the wall. This way a bomblet can't land behind you and launch you forward.
If Alatreon's legs happen to break and he falls over, and you have to get to the edge of the wall to hit him, walk forward, don't roll. Yes, this is likely to happen to you. Kinda tough to remember this in the middle of the madness, but people do roll off alot.
Give your teammates space. Yes, if you accidently shoot a teammate bomblets will come off and you will all go flying.

Grudge Match: Lagicarus
Lagiacrus training is quite simple. It just involves staying alive. You can s rank this but it is very hard. You will need a ls and a lance combo. When the quest starts immediately max out your stamina gauge by eating rations then run in. You will have sleep knives. Use them and then sleep bomb lagi. The lance user should blow up the bombs while the ls user gets ready. In order to s rank this the ls user needs to fill up his gauge to purple and keep spamming the spirit combo. All the while the lance user is upstabbing away at lagi. This is quite simple really, use bombs, when ls user has purple gauge then set traps and keep fighting. It's really just a test of staying alive. Also, it is very hard to s rank this. You will most likely not get that the first time.
Qurupeco Training:
One person needs to use the sns; another with the hammer. First off don't eat anything. Immediately run into the arena when quest starts. Hammer user keeps running up to quru. The Sns user stops and eats the power seed giving both people the affect. Then sns user joins the hammer user in running at quru. As soon as the hammer user reaches quru first set down the lbb+ and wait for Sns user. That person will do the same thing. As soon as second bomb is set hammer user sets a sbb. Then run away. Quru will flinch and do his bomb animation. Here's what each person should do from then on:
Hammer:
The person should focus on triple pounding the head. Also super pounding when quru flies. When quru is about to do his jump spark attack, begin charging your hammer. You need to count qurus jumps. If he jumps three times, immediately roll when he begins his third jump and run up to it and time your triple pound so the golf hits it when it turns to you. But if it only does two, it will fly back, allowing you to super pound the head while it's flying. Just keep hitting the head. Only thing that is really your job for the fight is it is your job to ko quru in the fight. Also, don't forget to use the flash bomb.
Sns:
This whole fight being done quickly and s ranked is up to you. You gotta be quick. After the bombing, immediately do your jump slash followed by the hit combo. That will be your main attack set. Don't do anything else. Roll through qurus attacks and just keep hitting it. Also, don't forget to sharpen, you will have to sharpen one time during the fight. This is inargueable. Just remember to sharpen once your sharp decreases. Ok, here is the hard part. Counting the paralyze flashes. It's your job to count the flashes so that way you can set the pitfall trap and paralyze quru in the trap, allowing the hammer user to ko it in the trap. Once you count 7 flashes, set the trap. Then immediately get it in the trap and keep hitting it until it paras then kos then itl die very soon.
Using that strategy you can kill quru in about 2:15.
Royal Ludroth:
(GS + Hammer): The GS user will be on all out lvl 3 charge hits, the Hammer user will be hitting the head with triple pounds. The GS user should use a might pill right away in the water arena, and go for a lvl 3 charge as the monster turns around, then do the bash hit followed by a super lvl 3 charge hit. After that the Hammer user should be going for TPs on the head as it does its rage taunt(DO NOT KO YET), the GS user should be setting up a trap. Lure the R.Ludroth into the trap and take another pill as the GS user, Hammer user should be setting up bombs anywhere the GS user isn't. Do the same combo from before as a GS user. The Hammer user should detonate the bomb while not hitting the GS user while its still in the shock trap, then should immediately hit the head of the R.Ludroth a few more times to KO. The GS user will continue to pound away with the lvl 3 charges, and the Hammer user will pound on the head. Easy S Rank of 2:01
Lagiacrus training is quite simple.

The Two Flames:
This is really easy to s rank. But because it involves LS, it involves staying alive. Both people pick ls, when quest starts fill up your stamina. Then run in. Both people will need to fight the same monster. That monster is rathian. You have to take her down first. Just get guages to purple and then spam spirit attacks. The hard part is staying alive. Don't use any items. Finally once Ian is dead, just item spam Los. Flash bombs, and traps, etc. Hit the head, it does the most damage. Los will get tired by the time Ian dies so it should be easy. Just takes time. Also, sharpen the moment your sharpness drops. That's because you will bounce on the first weapon sharpness drop.
Sea Power:
The key to s ranking this is really easy. Both people need to use the bowguns. As soon as the quest starts, both people just run right in, one person will need to occupy gobul, the other Ludroth. Immediately load the fire shots and just keep shooting the designated monster. Ludroth will die quite quickly. Imesdiatly after it dies, set your bombs. I don't recall you having traps but if you do, set your bombs on your traps then blow them up. You won't run out of fire shots but if you do just shoot your wyvern fire shots. You should s rank this quite easy without any trouble.
The Brute Horns:
Ok, this requires some skill. You need to have someone who loves to charge with lance and is also really good at using lance as well. You'll also need someone who is extremely proficient with hammering Uragaan and diablos. When quest starts, fill up stamina, then go in. You have to kill Uragaan first. The hammer user should be able to ko ura and blos two times each. I recall that you have poison knives, use them on ura. Then begin fighting normally on ura. Hammer user should only use super pound. Lance should be hitting belly. The moment the ura gets ko'd, the hammer user should go triple pound hit urus stomach and the lance should immediatly start charging at uras stomach. Just pray blos doesn't hit your during this time. Repeat this until ura dies. Once ura dies, go to blos, I recall that you will have sleeping knives and bombs. Don't miss with the knives and sleep bomb it. Hammer should ko it twice. Lance should charge when it is ko'd and sonic bombed out of the ground. I don't think you will have traps but if you do, use them. This will just take some time. You might not s rank this the first time depending on how well your hammer user is at hammering these two.
Bird and Brute:
(Lance + GS): The Lancer will use 2 Rations right away and will be focusing on Barroth until it goes down, the GS user will act as support and will attack the Peco for most of the fight. The GS user gets a lot of bombs and items and should set up a trap right away, then go nuts with bombs on Barroth. Until Barroth, goes down, the GS user should be distracting the Peco. Lancers should try and plant themselves in a corner, countering every blow Barroth throws, all the while keeping the Barroth in between the Peco and themselves. If the Peco decides hes being ignored too much and starts to take it out on the Lancer, don't be afraid to move out of the corner and put the Barroth in between yourself and the Peco again. Flashbomb only when you need to sharpen. This strategy earns an easy S Rank of 8:21.
Land Lords:
This takes alot of skill to s rank. Obviously if you are doing this quest you must have some form of coherence. This method if you do it correctly you can sub 7 minutes on this. It's very hard though. You are going to need someone who is really damn good with a ls, and someone who knows how to be a support gunner. Both of you are going to rely on each other. If one person fails to do their job correctly, then you will both encounter some issues. Here is what to do during each monster:
Barroth:
When quest starts, immediatly fill up your stamina and run in. The ls user is going to need to run straight up to Barroth and get in as many hits as he can. The gunner will stay back and load up their crag shots. That is what you will be shooting at Barroth. This I because it breaks his armor very quick. Hit the body and legs with the crags, not the head. Use them all up then move onto your next shot which will be wyvernfire. I am almost certain you will have them, if not, shoot normal shot level 2's. The key to beating this quest sub 7 minutes relies on the ls user. You need to fill up your spirit bar and spam that spirit combo. Once you hit purple guage, it will be easy because Barroth will flinch or trip easy. Just keep spamming that on it. Do not use ANY items against it, flashes, traps, etc. It should die before three minutes is up. That is if you had a good run.
Uragaan:
The key to beating this thing really quick is really easy. The gunner should be shooting water shot through it the entire time. The ls user should have been using barroths dead body to keep purple guage until Uragaan gets there. Once Uragaan gets there, sharpen and get ready for the easiest fight ever. All your going to do is flash spam this thing. Use all your flashes. Just keep flashing and spirit slashing and shooting water through it until it dies. It really should die in under two minutes.
Deviljho:
Ok, so here is where it gets a little frantic. Some people overreact on jho and tend to do stupid things. It's not hard. Just don't get hit. This is going to be a really fast fight depending on if the ls user is comfortable hitting jho while it is fighting at the same time. The ls user needs to be spirit slashing the entire fight. Even when jho is biting etc. Just roll through everything. This part of the quest is where you guys will really need each other. Your going to immediatly put him in a pitfall trap, then throw para knives at it, and spirit spam him. The gunner will be shooting dragon shot through the head. Don't miss. Six hits of pure damage per shot. After the dragon shots are all gone, shoot whatever else you have. If you have pierce use that. Once the thing is out of the trap, the gunner will shoot sleep shots and you guys will sleep bomb it. Set your bombs and a shock trap for when it wakes up and get ready. Boom, then continue fight. Once out of trap set a sleep meat and keep fighting. Save the rest of your sleep shots for later. When it eats the meat, then shoot the rest of your sleep shots. Sleep it again. You will also have sleep knives, try to sleep it one last time, sometimes depending on some circumstances you can. Use everything. All bombs and traps. Remaining flashes etc. Everything. It should die quite easily. Giving you an s rank on one of the hardest arenas there is.
