more insights of the game.

Update 14 April 2011
Seeing how the Archer misses the Griffin is a good indication there is no lock on.

Quote

Dragon's Dogma will feature myriad creatures for players to hunt down, such as goblins, griffins and, naturally, dragons.

Capcom says the actions of computer-controlled teammates are tailored to the style of the player, but the official PlayStation Blog points out that players can also issue commands.

According to the PlayStation Blog, the game's main quest will take players about 30 hours to complete, and there are side quests players can tackle.

Doesn't look like much information has been released but it is for the 360 and even possibly the PC as well, looks like I don't have to get the PS3!

I've been waiting for a good Action RPG, and this looks pretty promising. I'll have to keep an eye on this title.

Now that I've seen the video (I wasn't able to watch it before) it kinda looks like a mix of shadow of the colossus (the climbing around on the monsters part) and a few other games

It's like Demon souls, mixed with GTA and SoTC?

MH could take some hints then. :D Though it is pretty magical to be able to lift the majority of the blademaster weapon classes. Those GS' are humongous...

I have a feeling they will keep this game without lock on and have this game to be as close as possible to MH seeing how much people like MH engine and style.

The difference is probably the class system. Like DMC 3, you dont have a level but get to adopt a class like system and earn point to unlock new skill and assign to them, and unlock new class as you progress into the game.

Unlike MH, this game will have a more in depth story, monster, weapons and spell ideas that can't fit into MH all will go into this game. Take Hydra and Griffin for example, they are some good examples of monster that is used in Dragon Dogma. Dragon Dogma is probably the platform where they throw everything that MH can't have, but keeping similarities to MH engine (Hopefully)

Look at the trailer carefully at how the archer misses the griffin, there is no lock on.

The music at the beggining reminds me of Jhen Mohran's second theme.

Anyways, the monster design seems pretty typical. A griffin, a dragon, lizardmen, a multi-headed snake... I honestly would prefer more "original" and "unique" creatures, but the concept seems fun.

Wow... This game could really be something awesome! I'd have to see some more details, but it definitely looks promising

What was the last game you played where you fought a griffin, a dragon, lizardmen, and a multi-headed snake?

You're right, these are a bit more "traditional" western monster designs, but I think that's balanced out by the Monster Hunter style gameplay (Or at least, what appears to be Monster Hunter style).

That's what I meant. What I wanted to say is that usually games nowadays go for more "original" designs, they aren't as strightforward as these: a griffin that looks exactly like the classical griffin, a dragon that looks exactly the same as the traditional european dragons, etc.

I don't find it specially bothersome though, just wanted to point that out. Besides, hunting classical mythical beasts is always badass.

Western looking monsters is nice and all, but will they be a challenge? At least in MH it takes some skill to be able to win. I hope this game is the same.
