How?
What?
It's ridiculous.
Kirin training is easy with the sword.
Just sleep bomb the Kirin, hit it with the sword, it's dead.
Long Sword, Hammer, Lance, Heavy Bowgun.... Can't Do.
Help please!

Since the training Kirin is small, being at the right distance everytime you attack is the name of the game. Take note of the distance it hops when it faces you. Ls is cake since staggering while facing the same direction as Kirin makes it flip over, then spirit combo it's face.
Hammer, SP when it hops to face you then roll away. Or you could approach it like the ls.
Lance is all about unsheathe attacking.
And Hbg is *pew pew roll* repeat
Lol do I make sense? It's still morning so I haven't fully woken up

Eh, I think that the most of the damage done by him is when he is brushing by your body.... try rolling and matching his mobility with yours, as in roll all the freaken time and do single strikes as often as possible

This.
I usually use the Long Sword on this fight, and that means lots of dodging, and quick single strikes aimed at the horn, or at the head.
And then when he falls over its time for the SPIRIT BLADE!

Minegarde newbie here
but I've done Kirin Training with Hammer & HBG several times.
Hammer
- SP Kirin when he turns to face you (usually after an attack).
- Run parallel with his charges and SP when he stops.
HBG
- Alot of patience and timing here. Start with Pellet3 then Normal2 shots.
- For Pellet3, because of its high recoil - it is good to fire while Kirin is the midst of attacking/taunting.
- I think it takes about 3 secs to recover from firing Pellet3 and about 2 secs for reloading.
Hope this helps~

I remember I hated that little Pony-of-Doom for ages. I somehow managed to beat all of them though. Of course I've forgotten every stratagem I had...come to think of it I don't believe I did have a strategy. I just repeated all of those training quests for about a month...or two...or three.
I just remember the mental agony of those fights...yeah.

Actually, sorry for the delayed postings.... I not only finished Kirin training, but I smoked his ass. Got my barrage piercing.
You guys were helpful, but there were a few things I did which weren't mentioned, which helped me not only beat, but smoke little thunder horse.
1) Bombs hurt Kirin. Get them first thing in the arena.
2) Treat raging Kirin like raging Tigrex. Put weapon away and run!
YAY!!!! ( ^ - ^)

Congrats!
I recently finished my Battle Training School as well and obtained the Barrage Piercing.
I only sleep-bombed Kirin with SnS, other weapons I went out man-and-beast
