Less than a month after is release, Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Felyne Village broke the half-million mark in Japan and expanded the series audience to female players. Instead of another multiplayer dinosaur hunting game, Capcom made a communication style game where players follow Felynes through their daily lives.

In traditional Monster Hunter fashion, Capcom is following it up with a "G" version. Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Felyne Village G was just announced for PSP. No details were mentioned, not even a release date.

Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Felyne Village was released on August 26. A North American release has not been announced at this time.

Unless capcom is milking cash from its fanbase, I see no reason why they keep on releasing "new" MH games. Why not package it all in one go...

Well the game really only had appeal factor in Japan maybe a few other places. It will be consumed here if G comes out. As I stated in my original review for the game it is totally not for everyone.

My wife absolutely loves this game so likely we will get a G version, but it depends on how it adds to the first game. If it adds the armors and stuffs we have been getting together from MHP3 then hecks yah she'll be down for it.

What I find funny is how Capcomy this franchise is becoming =) I mean how many street fighter iterations can we name-off the top of our heads by now? I can't wait to see how many MH iteration names we can pull out of our butts in 5 years time or 10...gonna be another capcom record for quintuple milking the same franchise to death? Time will tell!

Till then toss me them Airus!

Actually if I polled my students I'd say 100% of the boys are already into it. It is not a market ploy to get kids into MH, they're the biggest consumer of MH in Japan. It is a ploy to target female gamers into this franchise. They constitute a greater part of casual gaming sales than the men do. Everything from puzzle games, to romance sims, women gobble it up here. Along with related Manga, this move is just the tired cliche of the girly gamer niche that developers seem to think fits the female market best.

For better or for worse that is the branding and thinking that churns out games like this. If my wife is any indication of how well it worked then I'd say Capcom is getting what works for the market (easy on time, easy to play, not super grotesque, approachable, short, with nibblets of easily measured progress markers).
