Hi after reading the Barroth LS thread again, I thought why don't we post our tips for each of the arena quests offline and online. If we can accumulate some good info, I could edit this post and the one after to give a comprehensive guide to the arena. It also helps those going for speed runs to get the elusive pinnacle and hunter king coins.

It would be helpful to post the quest name, the monsters involved, the weapons you and your team-mate used and the time you got with it to give a rough idea of how well the tactics worked. If it's an online arena quest, state what rank the time is, although I'm guessing most of the times you'll have are S-rank.

I'm not really a pro at arena but I do have full scholar/guild armour.

Online:
Bird and Brute
Quropeco and Barroth at the same time

Time: 7:39

Tactic: Me: Switch-axe, Randomer: Lance

We both took two rations and ran up to quropeco. Whilst he was looking around we placed down all our bombs and I set it off with the SA (hit the air next to the bomb to set it off without getting hit). I think barroth actually got hit by the bombs too. I flash-bombed Barroth to make him stand still while we hit quropeco. Whilst using switch axe I always had it in sword mode doing vertical chops. If the gauge ran out, I reloaded it. My team-mate just countered everything and laid on the pain. At this point I died from a barroth combo. Came back and paralysed peco once and soon after it was dead. Hit barroth for a while and he went into rage. My team-mate used a flashbomb to keep him in one spot. I paralysed him and we hit it for a while. When it started drooling I laid my EZ shock trap and we both hit him. He came out and I hit him for a few seconds paralysing him again. Hit, hit, hit. Burst switch axe killed him before he screamed.

General notes: use the burst attack just before your power gauge runs out to get in a lot of paralysis damage. My team mate was just skilled at lancing so it helped.
Try and keep the sharpness in the green and sword mode on the head. Use flashbombs only when barroth is in rage mode or when both quro and barroth are still alive. If you can hit both of them with the same flash bomb, it helps. If you see an opening, pick up lifepowders from the centre and heal each other to save time. Try to be as aggressive as you can with whatever weapon you choose to use.

Fastest Tactics list

Online
Players: Komaru (Lance) and random (Lance)
Bird and Brute
Time: 7:11

Tactic: Split up and take on one monster each. Flashbomb Barroth when he's exhausted. Flashbomb peco and counter the 270 degree tailspin. Hit them until they die. Simplez.

Video of the attempt: http://www.justin.tv...rur/b/26738730

N.B. Music playing was what he was listening too at the time so ignore it if you don't like it.

Online
Players: Donutz (Hammer) and Me (SNS)
Grudge Match Quropeco
Time: 2:01

Tactic: Both place bombs down at start when squawking and hammer detonates whilst SNS takes a might seed.
Hit a bit before laying down and luring into trap. Hammer keeps trying to smack head and sns takes whereever he/she can without interrupting the hammerer.

Video of the attempt:

Offline
Players: Me (hammer) and my brother (hammer)
Rathian and Rathalos
Time: 6:01

Tactic: Both players take a dash juice at the start. One person sleep knife's rathian and the other does rathalos at the start. Once both asleep, place bombs next to each one and bomb simultaneously. Go for the nearest monster to you, super-pounding the head. If one is knocked out/exhausted/in trap (laid randomly), concentrate on that monster taking it in turns to superpound the head. Coordinate it correctly and you'll be doing continuous superpounds to the head for mega damage. Continue until dead.

From what I see, lance should kill faster. I reckon you to try having both lancer and see if you can get a faster time. :)

I tried it with Nuno. We did it fast but couldn't get it faster than me using switchaxe. Barroth seemed to like the view of my ass from behind =P I'll have a go again though.

Watch your back, Kira. Barroth is a stalker.

For Bird and Brute, my fastest time was 9:46. I lanced, my partner GS sniped. Basically, I went straight for Pecco and Nitemare went straight for Barroth. He bombed Barroth in the beginning and I just hit Pecco til it died. It helped that Pecco never saw Nitemare, but Barroth loved coming at me. I suggest staying near the edges, opposite like we did (didn't think of this at first) try to flash so that the monsters only see one hunter. Pecco won't last very long and Barroth tires quickly. Yeah, stay aggresive like said and utilize items well. Just a note, the coins are given at random so don't get an ulcer looking for S rank. The chance is the same whether you finish at 49:59 or 0:01. At least to my knowledge.
Also, my partner and I are long time friends, and used to eachother's play styles. We never formulated a plan or said much, it was sort of spontaneous that we did one on one. I strongly suggest playing with someone you know, because finding really good randoms is heavenly status, at least in my experience. Or post in quest with me and hope one of the ubers sees it.

I believe my best time on this quest was with Drako, somewhere around 7:30

He used Switch Axe and I used the Bowgun.

We started off by going right for the peco, I just unloaded normal 2 on its face while Drako chopped it up. It died really fast.
For the Barroth, I poisoned it, then put it to sleep (axe has 2 EZ LBB) and then I paralyzed it and unloaded all of my explosive shots at it while keeping it flashed. After that it was back to normal shots and then it died.

so far my best time is 7:11, even with 1death by me. theres noway i could do that again ;(

i just random joined a high rank arena hunt and this is the 2nd run with the same person.
luckily i was streaming so jtv auto recorded the broadcast.
http://www.justin.tv...rur/b/267387308 - ignore the music if you dont like it, i was listening to pandora while playing D;

basicly we just split up and i mainly try take down barroth and occasionally hit peco when it comes my way.
once peco is down barroth should be low on stamina for flashes. (low stamina + flashed barroth = good sandbang)
surprisingly we never used lg bomb and still got a good time on
this.

i never lanced a barroth before until these arena quest, what it seem to me are to poke low (else you poke the head and when it bounce its a big chance of getting charge over) if you're in front of barroth and then try side step into its side to poke upward to the arm region.

flashed peco always do the 270tail spin and just recently i got much better lancing a flashed peco with no downtime with some counter timing. so it would seems a flashed peco is not bad at all if you can do good counter timing on it.

Edited my second post komaru. I've tried to simplify it to cut down the content, but if there's anything i'm missing or you want changed, just let me know and I'll change it. Maybe by private message.

By the way guys, you can post your tactics for other arena quests here...not just bird and brute.

Guys, I've edited the list to include Grudge Match Quropeco. I was going to wait for KidKaos to post his tactic, but I got a faster time anyway.

I will include Sea Power (Gobul and R. Ludroth) after any competition that takes place because PatserGouki and me got a ridiculously fast time on it, although there may be someone faster out there.

I will also get some of the offline ones posted, once I have a crack at some time attacks with my brother.

Also, any arena times and tactics for any arena quest you have can be posted so I can update! =)

Does anyone have any advice for the offline Barroth+Barioth+Rathalos arena quest?

I've tried it a few times with Lance and GS but always run out of time. I'm don't really like the GS but I am rather fond of Lance, and I have no real experience with Switch-Axe or Bowgun.

I can take out the Barroth pretty easily but always take way too long on the other two. Barioth always makes me block too much and run out of stamina....and Rathlaos spends so much time in the air and his wind pressure stops me hitting him much.

Also a somewhat-unrelated question, pressing R+O to counter doesn't seem to work very often after doing the /\ attacks (using CC Pro btw) is there a trick to it, pressing one button slightly before the other or something?

So, yeah. Advice please...

There are some vids around on youtube i think. I saw a JPN player do it with Lance, but it takes good lancing skills: eg countering a lot.
Its keep hitting the enemies with the lance. Barroth is pretty easily countering with lance, barioth takes a bit of timing and whereas Los, I seen that JPN player do the forward dash a lot when Rathalos was in the air.

I saw a 2 player vid of 2 GS users, where the key to the GS in this arena quest is Punish draw. So if possible try to KO asap each enemy from the draw, and after that the X button again to have another chance on KOing the enemy. If the enemy is KOed use Lv 3 charges on the head. Then u still have a trap, bombs for Barioth and you can eventually get some flashes in the arena self for Los.

I dont have any other advice , im not playing Slashaxe. I dont know how well the gunner:gun and armor is, in this stage.
I hope this was a bit of the advice you can use...
