I started with Temple Knight. I've only cleared a couple levels. I got really lucky and got a Guillotine Axe drop on my first run of 1-2. I've been bouncing between that and my halberd, both of which have been upgraded a bit. I'm still trying to pick my build. I've been considering a Faith build with a little extra Strength and Dexterity.
The guilty pay the price.

The NA version.
Got it yesterday and it's great.
Kinda nuts that they kill you in the tutorial.
Also what's a good build for a temple knight
and where do I "level" up?

The usual builds with a temple knight origin are the Dex-type, Str-type, Balanced Str-Dex type, etc. Typically any build that is weapon-based.
To level up, you have to increase a stat by paying souls to the maiden in black. A stat increase is equal to one level increase as well as an increase in physical def.

Temple Knight can become any build: Magic, Faith, Strength, Dex and their smaller categories; i.e. Northern Regalia and Blueblood Sword (Both magic based but BBS uses luck)

Any sites where I can read more about these "types" or see any example of a type build?
Is a type build basically where you put the most points into a certain skill over others?

EWGF (A maker of the Build Guide; popular PvPer) helped the PvP community jump start with specifications on weapons used, stats needed, minimum requirements, and details about what each stat point gives. http://www.gamefaqs....ouls/faqs/59592
Here's a summary on diminishing returns from EWGF's guide:
-Keep vitality from 42~50 (Max HP is 1500 in body form at 50 Vit)
-Stamina caps out at 160, so 40 endurance max.
-Only use ENOUGH Strength points to wield what you want to use (i.e. Greatsword when two-handed requires 21 or 22 strength, one handing requires 30)
-Dexterity and Faith should only be capped at 50, anymore and the gains from stat becomes useless.
-Luck isn't needed unless you're going Blueblood.
-Magic should be kept at 10 just so you can learn spells, otherwise, skip it unless you are doing Magic Based Damage.
-Intelligence minimum should be 15 so you have 100 MP without bonus from equipment. This allows you to at least cast Second Chance (100 MP required) and Cursed Weapon + 2 slots of Magic Memory.
-Faith gets 2 slots of Miracle Memory at 16; 3 at 34~36 (forgot).
Summary of stones/equipment based on primary stats:
+All weapons and equipment will scale damage and bonuses according to the RANK of the bonus. The order goes: Strength/Dexterity/Magic/Faith.
-+An example would be: -/-/A/C (Not a real item), this item will boost Magic damage greatly and some Faith.
-Faith equipment have the Prefix "Blessed", Faintstones
-Dexterity uses Bladestones for "Sharp"
-Strength uses Greystones for "Crushing"
-Magic uses either "Crescent" or "Moon"
The higher the upgrade, the better the bonuses.
Some rare or unique equipment may require using "Colorless Demon Souls", only 10 obtainable per New Game (+).

Armors have to be found or purchesed from the NPC's hidden in the world. There are some sets that u can find free of charge, ofcourse.
Brushwood set is found in 1-1(This is a heavy set... really heavy)
Fluted set can be found in 3-1(The tower level,Average set also featured in the intro)
Those are the only ones i found without much of a fight, The gloom and darksteel sets come from story dependant NPC's, kinda like Odstrava's rune blade.

Either get the Full Ancient King set for males or the Binded set for females (almost a rule in the DS wiki) or just mix and match.

I worked out why I couldn't find the Maiden in Black, she doesn't appear in the Neuxs
till you clear 1-1.

Started leveling my character which is now Royalty Class (wooo soul arrow)
I put points into Vitality, Endurance and Strength (like a bunch into strength to raise it from 11 to 22 to use the purple flame shield effectively)
I'm currently using a spear +2.
Really not sure what to go for with the Royal class, should I just forget about soul arrow
and magic as it will be less useful later on?
If any of this sounds like a stupid build tell me please, kinda lost here.

Otherwise, lots of strength + cursed weapon is an auto win for every other build.
Faith is an all-rounded build, at the price of extra damage, they receive constant HP regen.

Died on the flame lurker, I'll try him again once I pump my magic up a bit.
Found that being a blue phantom is a really good way to farm souls.
