Well, my run with bows is going well.
I'm currently sporting a Yian Kut-ku set with a battle cap. (I wish Kut-Ku Ears were a little more common)
Attack up (medium), Health up are my skills.

When I get a little farther, I'm going to aim for getting that Chaoshroom hat..... I'm hoping that "abnormal status attack up" will make things really interesting with bows and coatings.

Made my first bow with piercing ability.
It does not work well with small monsters.

(I'm having a blast, pardon the pun, sleep bombing...)

I brought in my reeeeally old Gold Valyrie (high rank Gold Rathian) light bowgun for clust2 spamming on the armour mode, and I when I ran out of bombs and clusts I decided to pewpewpew with my NormS2s for the heck of it.

I figured, maybe I'd get a repel if I'm really lucky, or maybe it'll just push it out of armour mode.

So pewpewpewpewpewpew... Still crackling lightning...

It was done with Legendary Blades G and the following gear

Garuga Helm X
Narga X
Cean U
Cean Z
Cean Z

Gem for Sharpness +1 Sharp Sword and Evade +2 (requires 2 slots. I know it's rather roundabout (and dumb) but it works.)

33 minutes, 1 death, most of my pots (and 3 First-aid meds). Four Mega Juices and 2-3 Power Juices. AND IT DIED.

I didn't get any hard horns.


EDIT, I then made Ten Thousand Volts (the Rajang LBG).

After 1k+ hours of playing, I just realized how godly Constitution+2 is when paired with Lances. Not just awesome, GODLY.

Farmed Gyppy and Gold Rathian.

I'd always found Gyppy to be annoying - almost on Lavasioth's level... my only consolation was taking Wyvern Blade "Silver" and spamming Tri to kill him - quickly, too.

Then I grabbed my shiny new Ten-Thousand Volts made from Rajang. It died in 9 minutes, no deaths, very few pots. Farmed him for Hard Gypceros Head - it only took about three rounds, and I got lots of power extract too.

I then went after Gold Rathian and downed it on my first try... and got a Gold Rathian Thorn. Whee.

Then I made Final Battleaxe - the poison duals that come expressly with mazereon's recommendation : ) Haven't done anything with them yet though.
