hey all you experts out there,

i've been wondering for a while, just how feasible is it to solo through the online quests.
i'd imagine it isn't too bad to take your alatreon weapons with sharpness+1 and go through, but i'd just reach hr40, going into 5* quest. to take down these baddies, i'd probably have to have some good offensive skills and be wailing on monsters for majority of the time. to optimize those offensive skills, i'd probably need a killer charm in my gear, no? almost all the armor combos make use of one, so does that mean i should farm for one beforehand?

or more relatively, how does this game compare to mhfu in terms of soloing the online stuff?

Here is a nice online walkthrough. I'd say that soloing Tri online compares to G Rank on Unite; with the difference that it's more fair and less frustrating on Tri (less damage, neat hitboxes), but it's also very time consuming as opposed to the portable versions, which are more "single player friendly", shall we say. Imminent time-outs will probably be your constant companions on High Rank, that's the only thing that turns me off. Me not like time pressure very much, especially when having to farm tons of Gobbles and Rathalias.

not being able to do enough damage is my biggest concern. if hitting the time limit is gonna be a regular occurrence, that's a pretty big deterrent. that's 50 damn minutes + supplies. the game's a big enough timesink already.

checked out a few vids there; pretty insightful. really shows that you need to be prepared, and squeezing out every little bit of extra performance. also, earplugs is an offensive skill.

its possible. BUT, you cant gun. thats out of the question. The only issue is the damage deficiency. Heres what id suggest:

Hammer, GS, LS

Those 3. LS especially.

If your going to be solo'ing, you gotta be mad good. Then you still need a wep that can rape whatever it touches. So look, heeres what you want to go for to make for each class:

GS: Rathian GS, until you get jho GS, dont worry about Ala GS if your soloing)

You see, ala GS is amazing, but the only way to make it so much more effective and just completely amazing, is by using ADR+2. Now, you might not be into that. So jho is your best bet. Along with a sharpness +1 armor.

Hammer: Elemental ones: Los, Lagi, etc. UNTIL, you get jhos hammer. Its the best in the game.

Ala's hammer doesnt quite match up with jhos.

LS: Heavens Thunder R (Lagi's), that LS rapes, along with los LS. And there are others too. You want to focus on elemental with LS. That is, until you get the Alatreon LS. Now, you may need to make jhos first. Ala LS is the best in the game.


The ONLY problem you will have besides damage, is the fact you will not be able to solo alatreon without jho weapons unless you use LS. Its not possible. Plain and simple.

LS is the highest dps weapon in the game. No arguement there. Anyone who says otherwise, is wrong. So, my suggestion, LS alot.

Ala can be done with Sabertooth, Felyne Pyro and lots of bombs, hehe.

Kaos is right, you need a long sword. I think Tenebra D and full lagi+ would do the trick against Ala.

Hey, cheap or not, you have few choices when soloing. I think it's admirable that someone was able to solo Ala at all, to be honest. It still takes a great degree of preparation and skill regardless.

lol haven't check the tri section and didn't know about this

it took me quite some time to defeat ala with under hr50 stuff. which means no talons. with talon it does boost things alot faster by around 10min.
