Hey guys,

I quickly skimmed the forum and didn't see anyone mentioning the new PSP that should be coming out by the end of 2011; PSP NGP.

- 5 inch multi-touch OLED screen (Damn!)
- Multi-touch rear pad (There are "L and R" buttons still)
- Dual analog sticks (Finally!)
- Powered by a Quad Core CPU (Dang, this thing will blow the Dual Core I have in my PC out of the water, ha)
- Front and rear cameras (Face to Face Chatting Possibly)
- GPS (A button called "NEAR" that shows nearby friends and displays their records of what they've been playing)
- SIXAXIS motion sensors (Better Loco Roco Gameplay, lol)
- Three-Axis electronic compass (Bear Grylls personal addition for survivalist)
- No more UMD, games will be on flash memory cards (Games should load a lot quicker)
- Supports WiFi and 3G (Dont know what to say about the 3G except it's cool)

Here are the links:

Sony - Click

CNET/GameSpot (video) - Click Me

Rolling Stone (article) - Click Me Too

Now a co-worker just told me about this so I don't know anything more than what I posted. So if you have more information please post in the comments and I'll be sure to edit/update this.

I would rather the Xperia play.

Whats the point in having a ps3 if you can have a portable ps3. Redundant.

The only reason to have a ps3 after this is to use the big tv. But who needs that really?

Lots of input methods make for a variety of control options for games.

I like.

I gotta be honest here, see the thread "the new psp sony says isn't so"

This isn't very exciting for "portable" gaming. Once the specs came out yesterday in Japan I was glued to the news feed and quickly wrote "fail" all over it.

It is as big as a game gear(well not really but about an inch taller than the last sony portable the PSPGo) and will boast ps3 graphics? For how much? Console-like games on the go? That I will play at home and not on the go more than likely.

G3 functionality? I need to dish out more cash for a data plan now? Plus those pretty games are going to cost a pretty penny.

It feels like a giant step backward, or a giant step forward in having your ps3 take up even less space. I can't decide.

Regardless, I am sure the hype machine will do its bit but unless this model is slimmed down, trimmed and acts more like a portable with meaningful gaming on the go I am not going to pay too much attention.

And, of course, the Sony executives will tout their horn, they want you to part with your money.

Long live the PSP1!

I just like that it's something fresh. I take my PSP everywhere (music mostly) and the slimmer, touchscreen are gonna flow better with me than my current model.

Only people with no money says that.

I'm not from a rich family but no matter how high the price will be if I save money for I pretty sure I can afford it.

:P Made the same topic, but in "Technology"... Guess mods will have to get rid of mine. Anyway, this looks freaking sick! I will be getting this for sure. I'm not quite sure what they have in mind to do with the back sensors but it's interesting nevertheless. The Quad Core processor they have in this thing should make games with great graphics play smooth as hell. Maybe with that, they'll allow the PSP to multi-task by playing music off your memory card while in-game, like a radio of some sort. They said some time at the end of the year it'll be released. I hope a heap of more info comes out soon!

I think the back-touchpad could function as L2/3, R2/3.

Will I be able to use my MHFU UMD and will I be able to listen to music whilst playing?

2 most important questions.

Good riddance to the UMD. Everyone always complained about the umd drive anyways and used it as a reason to "backup" games with CFW. So why complain when its being removed? It will just mean a longer battery life and no noisy spinning. Besides, you still have a PSP to play UMDs so use that.

I guess Sony blew a lot of money down the toilet when they made UMD's then, huh...?

Well I didn't say I had no money to get it nor that I wouldn't get it, but rather as it stands it doesn't do it for me and I am sure all points considered won't doing for a lot of people either. In fact assuming anyone who wants it wont be able to afford it is quite something to assume if you ask me. I just won't get the first the run of it until it is considerably changed to something more in line with it being portable and worthy of my money. I did the same with the PSP1 and do the same with almost all technology.

Plus being realistic, if you need the 3G to preserve your trophies you'll need to cough up a subscription fee. Again, the unit costs, plus game costs, plus data plan equals a little unreasonable for something that is supposed to be portable. Just look at the ubiquitous forms of portable entertainment available on smart phones and cell phones. Does a lot of that stuff run you 50 to 60 to 70 bucks per title? Plus a bad economy to boot? I don't think these points are invalid and are added for consideration not to comment on the purchasing power of the poster.
