Alright I was a big hunter back in 09, my psp broke spring this year and I finally had enough spare cash and one of the first games I got was a new copy of monster hunter, since my original got lost in a move. Now I'm sitting mid HR 6 with two armors I rotate a rath soul/ rath soul u, and a tigrex/tigrex u, as in I'm upgrading both sets of armor to their U versions. As for weapons, my selection is huge but I have no clue where to direct it.
I'm working on rank up, I heard the gold/silver rath have weaknesses to thunder, but I can't decide wether to work my way up he kirin gs line, the khezu shock line, or the imperial gs line. Or just stick with upgrading the devil slicer. But then when I do that I can't figure out what type of weapons to make for hunting kirin, rajang or khezu. *sigh* I guess basically I'm at a standstill since I considered factoring elemental damage into the equation as opposed to just pure raw.


LastlyI'm debating what dragon elemental weapon to make down the gs, ls, or ds line, I heard the epitaph's from the lao are worthy weapons but take a lot to make let alone get their base stone.

Work for the Yamatsukami armor and gem it for Sharpness +1.
GoldIan and SilverLos are best killed with a hammer imo, Magnitude works best (Copper Blangonga Materials). Having the upgraded Devil Slicer always paid out for me, I used it alot.
Kirin I'd use K.O. Dragonsword (Lao Material) or Magnitude. Rajang I'd use either the Plesioth Sleep SNS, Magnitude or the Ucanlos GS.
Khezu use Wyvern Blade Camellia (SilverLos Material).

Raw Damage > Elemental Damage

Don't go for elemental GS at all. They aren't really useful, and you are just wasting materials.
When making GS always aim for the highest raw, like Adept. That goes for hammers too.

I also highly recommend the devil slicer, having used it quite often in my early monster hunting days.
Hammering the khezu, I find, works best for me. But you may find it a bit harder if you aren't that experienced with the hammer.
You can try going for your strongest fire elemented SnS. Hit its legs till it falls, and then attack its face. This is an easy risk-free method, but it does take a longer time.
Or you can take your current strongest raw GS, and kill it using the good old turn-around face charge. Khezu's body shock (where it presses itself against the ground and emits electricity) gives ample time for a GS charge, and it can take down a Khezu pretty quickly.

alright, so should I persue the epitaph, or out of sieglinde, ravager blade +, red pincer, valkyrie blade, khezu shock, halberd, crimson goat, plesioth crystasword, blue claw blade, blue wing, spartacus blade, sentoryu raven, rathalos firesword, titernia, tiger agito, black blade, carbalite sword +, agito, pickaxe blade, or a new route at h6 for my GS? Also whats a decent scythe to work with?

As Clow had mention,don't go for elemental GS try aim for the highest raw.

To my feel, if you going to use GS I would suggest you work your way for Agito and upgrade it to King Atillart Sword. With Sharpness +1 it gave a good amount of purple sharpness and it one of the best GS.
It may still take sometime for you now, to reach there as you need HR9 blos parts.

As for now you might want to go for Sentoryu Reven(Sentoryu Crow) or Killer's Scythe(Killer's Carver). Both are easy to get. They gave you a decent amount of dmg and sharpness.

Killing all monster with GS is a no problem it just about practice and the timing.

Dragon element LS;
Knockout DragonSword - RAW 1056, Drg 540. Somehow easy to make but take you real long time to farm laos item.
LgndaryFatalisSickle - Raw 1248, Drg 300. Make from Dark stone and you need to farm fatty abit. Give you a long purple with sharpness +1

Dragon element DS;
Dual Dragon Ultimus+ - RAW 336, Drg 320. It will take your time making it. Take longer time den making any other weapon I feel.
Ultimus Apocalypse - Raw 364, Drg 300 Thn 300. Need to farm fatty and a few eldDrg jewel.
Eternal Sacrifice - Raw 182, Drg 510. Easy to make. No purple sharpness.

Thanks lol, Yeah I'm kind of a GS veteran, in fact I picked it up as my first weapon when I was told it was one of the more challenging weapons for newcomers to get used to. Alrighty, I guess I'll persue those lines. yeah I have a black sickle. Now it's time to march onward and resume my hunt.

Lastly at hr 6 what are a couple of good armors to aim for? Im curently using a rath soul with soul u bracers and waist, and then a tigrex set, maxed defense, except I just recently made the chest, helmet, and gauntlets tigrex U.

Don't go making any of the Tigrex armor they are all outclassed in every single way by other armors. The weapons though become better once you hit G-Rank.
Use could also use Akantor armor with Rathalos Soul U mix if you have trouble with roars.

Once you hit G-rank there are some pretty good armor sets for GS:

Gemmed IUU, S+1, Focus, AoU or Focus, S+1, SSI, IUU, Combine Success +15%

Taunt isn't really useful for solo so having Makluva will give you better more useful skills.

No, those are some possible G-rank sets. The sets you should be aiming for at your HR are Cean S (as Chaa said) and if you have trouble with roars you could use an Akantor, Rathalos Soul U mix.
