I was on a extended break from MHFU, (ask duel Tiggy quest why)

I came back beat it and now am HR6, i am wearing a Rath Soul Set with Garuga Mask (attack up (med), HGE, RA+1) which is pretty good, and id love to use it till i get silver sol, which i know is pretty hard, so could i get a good reccomendation till then?

ALSO: Can i get Rath Rubies from High-rank Silv Rathalos? or just G rank?

Thanks~

What is your fighting style? Are you proficient at using the X button and evading? Do you understand monster attacks very well? Or are you a more of the balls-to-the-wall kinda guy who is very aggressive? What weapon(s) do you use? What is your main weapon? When we recommend an armor set, are you going to use it as a primary or are you going to use it in certain situations?

I'm just going to say this for right now, anything Rathalos is good, IMO.

G rank silvers give out rubies like candy.

Stick with the azure soul armor, it's helpful until you can make the g version

I agree. No matter what weapon you use, there isn't much you can go wrong with Azure soul.
I stayed with my azure soul until HR9, when I could afford better armor.
Silver Sol set is useful, but it might be better to use the time that you would farming for materials on just moving up the ranks, so you can get even better equips than the silver sol set.

As for rubies, they are easy to get at HR6, as long as you follow the cut tail, break head, capture method.
I usually got at least 1 per quest.

I see, thats awesome, i love my azure soul :D

And yes i understand Monster attacks well and proficient with evading :D

I use LS, And Hammer, and im in-between sometimes aggressive, sometimes not, when i really want a monster dead im more to keep away and watch my ass so i dont have to retry again lol

Also, can you only get Rubies from capture? I usually break everything I can is possible, so thats no problem.

It is definitely possible to get rubies without capture, but capturing does increase your chances.
It's been a while since I went on plates/ruby runs, so I don't remember everything, but you don't even have to break anything to get it.
You can carve it off if you are lucky. Refer to chart here => http://minegarde.com/wip/carve.php
Shinies even give them sometimes.
If you don't want to bother with capturing like me, just go on repetitive rathalos runs with your strongest raw hammer. Hopefully you can get some good carves.

And if you are indeed a Hammer and LS user like me, you probably don't need silver sol.
Hammer's headshots usually don't bounce off (golfswings, superpound, charge hit), and LS spirit blade is handy for any attacks that might bounce off.

Just moving on to G-rank seems like the better option for you at the moment though. Don't worry about rubies, cause heavenly scales are going to be a bitch.

Take it from someone who's been there, Silver Sol is never going to be worth the 5 Rath Rubies you invest in it. I only used 3 for mine (Black Belt Vambraces S + Death Stench Legs S)in and it was lousy already.

I'm going to echo everyone else here and say "stick with Azure Soul". Of course, I'm assuming you're talking about Rathalos Soul U. If you're using low Rath Soul, upgrade to Rath Soul U.

The alternative is Ceanataur S. Sharpness+1/Sharp Skl Inc/AUS is pretty darn good.

Rubies are easy for me to get with a simple strategy.
Gold and Silver tail runs.

- Equip yourself a set that gives you Carving Celebrity. (you can mix Blue Guild and Personal armor sets to get it - don't let the bad luck scare you, it won't matter)

- Go over to Guild HR6 or Nehkot's 9star Gold Rathian, Silver Rathalos quests - whichever ruby you want. (they're in the "tower arena" so you don't have to spend time finding them)

- bring flashbombs, shocktraps, a good cutting weapon, some power seeds/pills for a quicker run, etc.

Focus completely on cutting the tail. Once its severed, the carving celebrity skill lets you carve it twice. If one of the carves nets you a ruby, either kill the monster or let him kill you. (whichever is quicker is the one I'd do)

If both tail carves doesn't net you a ruby, abandon the quest and retry. (you won't have to mess with restocking because everything will revert to how it was before you started the mission)

....also, rubies are sometimes in the shiny they drop, which they tend to drop with the shock trap, or flashed out of the sky.

There's a 5% chance you'll get a ruby in a tail carve.
Two carves gives you another spin on that chance.
4% chance you'll get it from a shiny.

I made the Silver Los set, 5 Rathalos rubies, in just a few hours....

Good luck!

I've only used the carving celebrity skill just for tail runs.

I'd rather put my points into something else during regular game play, rather than an extra carve....

I only farmed for 3 Rath Rubies and it still took me weeks!...hate you...

Of course, I now have something like 9 Rath Rubies in my box and nothing to do with them. Hvnly Farming at HR9 Tower Sil Los does that.
