Soo, I'm a huge metal fan, now I want to use this thread to share the greatness of metal and have people be introudced to metal and new songs. Anyone know any good metal bands and some of their best songs? Especially Megadeth and Anthrax, I could barely find anything that's good from them.
P.S. DO NOT SPEAK OF BRING ME THE HORIZON IN THIS THREAD!

BMTH is garbage. Subgenres are garbage. Whatever rocks is my thing. So tell me, is this about legit metal that died more than 10 years ago in the '90s, or is this about anything that is heavy and brutal?

Both, I love the legit metal like Metallica and rock like Van Halen but, no lie, I love the current metal bands like As I lay Dying, All that Remains, Trivium, Children of Bodom and of course my favorite Avenged Sevenfold.

Many metal bands nowadays are good, no shit. But you oughta check some more and also some older stuff to.

My suggestions:
Metallica - (Especially 1983-1992 stuff)
Megadeth (Listen to their first albums)
Anthrax - Good but not too much into them, but as i recall they had a couple GODLY dongs, check them out
Blind guardian
Dream Theater
Iced Earth
Nevermore
Death
Iron Maiden
Therion
Obituary
Kreator
Sodom
Pantera (This might be more to your likin compared to most here)

Thats what came from the top of my head, if i were to mention every band i know thats good... well damn, it would take days.
Also note that it is not a top list of any kind and most if not all bands here could be replaced by some others if i was makin the post a little later or something. It would help if you wanted suggestions based on more defined criteria or specific metal genre.

I like most metal genres, the one kind of metal I don't like is something that's all screamo and just heavy riffs and no actual music, just palm muted chords....and techno metal, I avoid that. But what song from Megadeth or Anthrax are good?

lololol @Metal

Dude.
As I lay Dying, All that Remains, Trivium, Children of Bodom and of course my favorite Avenged Sevenfold.

In order; Metalcore (metal with breakdowns, guys), sorta iffy, I guess metalcore as well, a little deathcore (again, the breakdowns), never heard of them, but the pussy wannabe metalheads at my locale think they rock, and I hate Ax7...

Hehe.

For metal, I have to delve deeper. I like blackmetal, heavymetal, and most of all deathmetal. Under those, I love to death deathcore.
Manipulated Mutilation, The World We Knew, With Blood Comes Cleansing, Molotov Solution, My Children My Bride, Disfiguring the Goddess, all excellent deathcore.

@Side
Sub-genres keep a type of music alive. Without alllllll of the sg's behind 'rock' the genre would be dead. Not to mention, there would be no uniqueness in music.

How do you hate A7X? I would start a war but I respect your opinion. All those bands you mentioned, never heard of them guess they must be part of those extreme genres.

WHATTHEFUCK

loldoubelpost I just read this.

This is deathcore and hardcore. My favorite types of music, bish. It's not screamo.

Screamo = Scream (a type of music) and Emo (a lyrical innovation) aka for bishes.

The vocals you speak of are to grip the audience. To quote Sovereign Strength, a local hardcore band out here, "We tried just telling you our message, but now it seems we have to yell at you til you pay attention!"
The vocals are awesome imo, they make the genre.

To each their own.

ps; BMTH had/has three phases. 1. Started sounding like shit. 2. Got good, real talent, nice lyrics. 3. Sound like shit. I liked Phase 2 BMTH before they started trying to please scene kids.

I like those kind of vocals, but just not to the point where that's all they sing and nothing else, just not my type, I think I figured out what my type is metalcore, heavy metal from the 70's and 80's..

lol I hate singing. That kills a band for me. Except for a select few. Like when I saw Alesana a few years ago. The heaviest band of the night, Asking Alexandria, came on. No singing for the first song. I was like 'NICE' first good band of the night (post hardcore shows suck) then they started singing and died in my eyes.

Interesting. I used to be a huge fan of bands like A Breath Before Surfacing, As Blood Runs Black, Born Of Osiris, The Black Dahlia Murder, etc. etc. etc. I guess I grew up cause those bands arent really my cup of tea anymore. Don't get me wrong, they still rock hard. But I get bored of it really quick. I've always liked some singing when it was used properly. I dont see why people hate it so much. It adds variety and depth.

August Burns Red
He Is Legend
Sleeping With Sirens
A Day To Remember
Alexisonfire
Haste The Day
MyChildren MyBride
Misery Signals
Parkway Drive
We Came As Romans

Not exactly metal, more -core sounding. Misery Signals FTW.

I only heard of August Burns Red and Alexisonfire from that list, Alexisonfire is like Atreyu, a half screaming and singing band. Soo guys this isn't actually a good band just a strange one, who has heard of the band Waking the Cadaver?

Yeah but Atreyu sucks. They're faggy corporate sellouts now like Bullet for my valentine or the brand new A Day To Remember. Alexisonfire to me is just a couple of Canadian guys that rock and never hit the mainstream.

Grindcore, gore metal, ehh. There kind of like Iscariot or Annotations of an Autopsy. Complete garbage, IMO. All they can "scream" about is how much they hate their girlfriend that cheated on them and how they dismembered the body and raped it. Boring super quick riffs, no personality, heavyheavylowlow crap guitar tuning.

Dismembered their body and raped it? What kind of people are they?! I actually don't know what you mean by corporate sellouts....but I like Atreyu not the new songs but back during Lead Paper Anchor Sails or something like that. And I still like Bullet.....

Basically they piss off their original fans and start going in a different direction. All for the sake of making more money and doing whatever makes their label and the critics happy instead of the fans.

Anyone like the bands called Emmure or the Acacia Strain?

Jeez man, they only have one note they play in every one of their songs, but it sounds cool :P

That's what a lot of people say about A7X...they went mainstream but according to the lead singer he gave up screaming because he didn't like it. I never saw Bullet selling out though...they stayed to their style all the way. Doing screaming and tons of hammer ons the whole time....I'll check out that band.
Who heard of The Misfits? They're not metal but they're awesome.
Just heard both bands you mentioned...those are exactly the vocals I don't like and Acacia Strain surprised me. They're the first African American metal band I saw. Last time I saw African Americans in involved in metal was when the new lead singer showed up for Killswitch Engage.
