Any newbie Monster Hunters like me?

I have a yearning to talk to new hunters who are learning like me to share advice we learned, and talk about our accomplishments. It'd be great if we could play on Kai too, but I'm really doubtful anyone new like me can.
Many of you might be thinking, why not veteran hunters? I'm afraid I will seem too much like a noob to them, and I would feel bad having like G rank hunters go on little HR2 missions with me. I want to benefit my hunter buddy too.
My game is MHFU and I will play MHP3 when I feel I'm ready to move on. I'm only HR1, hence my newbieness.
If you wish to add me to any IM protocol, let me know beforehand, so I will accept you. I use MSN the most, so it is my preferred protocol.

First of all, don't worry. We might seem intimidating at first (1:24 on Nekoht Dual Hypnoc? Really?) but this forum is overall a very nice community... I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say "Everyone is friendly". You'll run into a couple of arguments here and there but just keep your nose out of them and you'll be fine.
Next, just because we're vets now doesn't mean we were always pros. I struggled for three days against Elder 2* Yian Kut-Ku, and three more on Congalala. Before you ask, it was Full Mafumofu with Giaprey Claws+. I had to ledge my first Khezu with Fire S plus the Congalala LBG... and let's not talk about Tigrex, please.
I'm sure no-one here would mind donning low-rank gear and supporting you with Status LBG or a Hunting Horn. I wouldn't mind doing so, except (1) My XLK doesn't work, and (2) I'm on the other side of the world - noon to you is like midnight to me. You're in Eastern US, see.
Here's a generic tip: Don't use one weapon class exclusively. It's possible. Just, it's very, very difficult.
Here's a more noob-friendly tip: SnS+Auto Guard murders Low Blangonga, no sweat - run Red Saber/Djinn/Velocidrome Bite. Guns murder Plesioth (Fire S/Thunder S/Pierce S). And learn to charge your GS (if you decide to learn to use it).
Oh, and, at higher levels Hammer>All monsters.
Flashbombs/Traps are useful, but don't rely too much on them. By the time you hit High Rank, you shouldn't be using them much, if at all.

MHP3 is more newbie friendly.
dont be afraid for being a newbie. everyone starts off as one. admitting you are a newbie is much better than those who are newbies but act as "pros".
anyway, if you insist on playing mhu, i would strongly suggest you learn the game by completing the "training school".
if possible complete all training school monster hunting quests using all weapons (total 75 quests) which most of them are locked at the begining of the game. the reason i am asking you to do so is so you have a good grasp of using all weapons so you can choose which weapon you like the most.
there are people who are multi weapon users, however it would be good for you to learn the pros and cons of each weapon before deciding which you like best. most people stick with their favourite weapon (my main weapon is greatsword btw)
one thing people overlook the training school is that all your effort in training school does not give you and rank up bonus. instead it allows you to fight monsters using predetermined weapons and armor which lets you learn how to fight them efficiently.
so my recommendation is
if playing solo:
1. Complete all available hunting school quests whenever they become available (except group hunting which is almost pointless)
2. Complete all village quests
3. Complete guild quests equivalent to the village quests that you have already completed (assume guild quests as village quests on a harder difficulty)
if playing online:
1. Do quests to rank up
2. Get friends to help you either get a good weapon or a good armorset (preferably both but weapon takes priority)
3. If all the above have already been done, probably try and finish off every single quest if possible or else just follow them on whatever quests they want to do
just to let you know i quit mhf2 when i first tried playing it with a friend. i tot it was a simple action game and got killed so easily that i simply hated the game. months later i continued, got stuck coz the monster (yian kutku) was "impossible". stopped playing for months. continued when i had the patience to play "safe" and managed to kill the impossible. got up to tigrex, got my ass served. quit mh again.... came back.... killed tigrex, green plesi kicked my ass... stopped playing... came back... killed plesi, then i got hooked...

I had no trouble with Kut-ku. By that time I had Full Velociprey armor and Iron Katana "Gospel". I always strive to get the best weapon I can make at any point, which may be overkill, but I don't mind investing the time to make them.

The only thing that turns me off is the need to spend more time making more weapons. But, if it's borderline impossible to defeat a certain monster with an LS/GS for example, I'd be willing to work up to a suitable Hammer or Bowgun. I'm horrible at ranged weapons, though.

I had already beaten Blangonga with a LS, it wasn't too bad, but I did sweat a little. I have quite a lot of trouble using the GS due to its slowness, but LS is quick enough for my comfort and still boasts decent power.

Hammer is even more slow, but, if I just find it way too hard to use LS against the tough monsters, I'll train a hell of a lot with hammer.
It seems there is a lot of negative attitude towards flashbombs and traps round here. I feel I should give the monster a fair chance against me unless I'm farming it, so I won't go spamming those.

Why does LS fail against it?

Yeah, well for the first time hunting a type of boss, I will try not to use them unless it's just taking too long to kill it due to lack of safe openings. I think it's ok to use them a lot if you need to farm them, though. Makes it go quicker.

I've done all the beginning stuff in the training school and did actually try every weapon to see what they were like. In the end, I decided to go with LS due to its quicker speed, long range, and decent damage. I thought MHP3 would be more difficult to be honest. Maybe I will play as soon as a really good English patch comes out. Jinouga looks so cool and I want to fight it.

It'd be great if you could tell me if you think I've got potential to be a good hunter, seeing my performance. I'm actually not 100% sure that my psp connection works, Kai can see my psp, though, but I heard that isn't enough sometimes. XD
Thanks for the feedback guys. ^^

Upgrading your equipment to the best it can possibly be at your rank isn't a bad thing either, in fact I think it's a very good thing that you go through the effort to accomplish that. I recently picked up MHFU again, and I'd love to play with you or help you out sometime. Don't ever lose faith!

Haha, I know right? I've started over a few times and started with different weapons just to re-experience that feeling, though I never really got too far on that. I still dislike Plessy since it's hip check literally is a "wall" to most hunters. x:
