Hello! This is a recovery of my old topic about the custom quest editor. I have added a few changes due to the new set-up of the site and have removed the stuff that is no longer around (Topics lost or not yet recovered from Original Minegarde)
POST 1 - Intro and DOWNLOADS

POST 2 - HOW TOINSTALL QUEST EDITOR XP

POST 3 -
HOW TO INSTALL QUEST EDITOR VISTA/WINDOWS 7

POST 4 - HOW TO RUN/PLAY CUSTOM QUESTS

POST 5 - HOW TO MAKE CUSTOM QUESTS

POST 6 - FAQ

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FILESFOR QUEST EDITOR - Includes Editor EXE, Map templates, English translations
DARKCHEAT - The program to play custom quests

Custom Quest converter (JAP to EU or US) - Convert the custom quests to play on western editions of the game (MHU)
CHINESE PRC LANGUAGE FILES - Required to open custom quest editor properly
TABCTL32.OCX - If for some reason you are missing this file you candownload it here

How to install .OCX files: Once you havedownloaded the file you are looking for you still need to make sure Windows orthe program causing the error can find it. Follow these steps:

1. If you areencountering an error with Windows... The file you downloaded may need to beplaced into the Windows System directory. On most machines this is one of thefollowing locations: C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me), C:\WINNT\System32(Windows NT/2000), or C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP). If you are encounteringan error with a particular program... The file most likely needs to be in thisprogram's directory. This directory is where the program is installed (i.e.c:\Program Files\ThisProgram). If this step solves the problem, you do not needto complete step 2.

2. You may to register this file with Windows. Click on theStart Menu and then on 'Run'. If you are replacing a Windows system file, typethe following command: regsvr32 \windows\system\file.ocx (Windows 95/98/ME),regsvr32 \WINNT\system32\file.ocx (Windows NT/2000), or regsvr32\windows\system32\file.ocx (Windows XP). For example, 'regsvr32\windows\system\mftp32.ocx' If you are replacing a file for another program, change the directory where appropriate. For example, 'regsvr32 \programfiles\Norton\xyz.ocx' If the file is registered correctly, you will receive apositive confirmation message.

If your missing any DLL files then here is the link to download them. Simply type the one you need in the search bar anddownload it.

MY GUIDE TO INSTALDLL FILES

place the DLL file into one of the following folders:
C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me)
C:\WINNT\System32 (Windows NT/2000)
C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP)
REBOOT COMPUTER - DONE - If this doesn't workthen:
Open the "Run Option" in the start menuand type CMD and press Enter (or if you use Windows ME, type COMMAND)
Then type regsvr32 "filename".dll andpress Enter

99% Copyed from Croda
VISTA GUIDE/WINDOWS 7:
The first thing you're going to want to do isdisable your UAC. Now, if you know how to do this, yay you, do it and continueon. Otherwise,

Posted Image

Go to your control panel in the start menu, andclick User Accounts and Family Safety

If your control panel doesn't look like the one inthe pic, make sure that you're not in classic view. It gets all confusing toexplain if you are.

From there, click User Accounts

Posted Image

And Finally, Turn User Account Control On/Off. Ithink you can figure out how to turn if off from there.

Now, it's going to tell you that the changes can'tbe applied until after you restart. You can hold off or restart now, it's yourchoice, just realize that you'll need to restart again if you do restart now.

Anyways, it's back to the control panel. Click Clock,Language, and Region.

Regional and Language Options

This next bit requires a bit more effort, butnothing intense. Click the administrative tab at the top, and go to the bitthat I've got circled. Most likely, it'll say english or something similar. Idon't remember entirely, but most likely, it will not currently be sayingChinese (Simplified, PRC). Click the button in the circled area, and select it.Tada! Now all you have to do is restart your computer.

Posted Image
Move the the quest into the PATCH folder inside the Darkcheat folder.
Posted Image
Turn off your PSP (Not stand-by).
Hold the R button down while you turn it back on to enter the recovery menu.
Select "Plugins"
Check to see if the Darkcheat plugins are (Enabled). If not click it to change it from (Disabled) to (Enabled).
Go back
Exit

In the main menu of the game and select Download.

Then download for the gathering hall:
For MHP2G- the devil diablos quest.
For MHU- the expunge the funk quest.
You must download it to the second slot in your download quests (There are six slots). Make sure you have any other quest in front of it.
YOU ARE NOW SET UP TO PLAY CUSTOM QUESTS.
To play a custom quest:
Open Monster hunter and go into the gathering hall (It doesnt matter if you go Online or Offline). Once inside talk to one of the quest lady's and go to event quests.
Go down to event quests and select it.
Go to THE DEVIL DIABLOS QUEST or EXPUNGE THE FUNK QUEST. DO NOT SELECT IT!
Click the Music Note Button on your PSP.
DarkCheat should open up. If not: go back to the top of this post and start from scratch. (Remember it use's O instead of X for yes/select.
Select Manage Dump.

Select [PATCH].
Select the quest you want to play.
Exit DarkCheat.

Change your system language into Chinese(PRC) first.

@Meemaws make sure you follow POST 2 - HOW TOINSTALL QUEST EDITOR XP or POST 3 - HOW TO INSTALL QUEST EDITOR VISTA/WINDOWS 7. They will guide you to install the Chinese Simplified (PRC) Language, in which the program was designed for. If you have done this correctly then it should remove your run time error.

I can't get into the 'Recovery Menu'
I have tried powering up my PSP while holding the 'R' Button, but it just loads up as normal.
From Flames we came, and to Flames we shall return.
. . . But we can always go out in a hail of bullets. ^_^

Your PSP is not a custom PSP. If it was then you should have no problem accessing the recovery menu.

@Pentagram
This is not really helpful but it seems you should insert your windows XP Pro Service Pack 3 Disc into the computer. I have not heard of this issue before, so i believe it must be unrelated to the CQ editor and because of your computer having:
1.)Non Genuine System. I doubt this matters though even if it is.
2.)Your Service Pack 3 was not installed properly
3.)You might have to update your system. If you can try UN-installing Service Pack 3 and reinstalling it.
4.)You haven't read this topic properly and therefore haven't seen you MUST have you Service Pack 1 disc (Service Pack 2 or 3 possibly)

Hope that helps, report back with more details if you can or the result/how you fix it. Happy hunting.

Well I don't mean to be a bother, but since the forum host killed the old Minegard I've lost he translations of all of the items. (Aside from Treasure Hunting ones as those were never given...)
Since that time I need the translations for Ores and whatnot, along with Pokke Point items, and so on.

Any help would be apreciated.

hmm, i remember jask announcing he found the extended rewards list.

any chance anyone here has that?

my comp refuses to let me download the QE in the link above and the one i got didnt come with any of the translations... so now i cannot continue my custom making until i can get my hands on the .txt files of the translations. IIRC, it was item list, monster rewards, extended item list, and supply items. something like that.

I MADE the extended rewards list....

If, that is, you are talking about the thing I made. I found the translations for the jewels and treasure items and added that on to Sigurd's list. It's on my old computer though....it should still be on my mediafire if you can find it.

EDIT: Did I ever release it? Whatever, point is, the treasure stuff is translated, and should be on my mediafire.

Guess what I have guise!

I have the Chinese PRC files for Windows XP. (Dunno if it would work on Vista/7, but it could be worth a shot eh?)

If anyone needs them I'll upload for you.
