I was going to bring back the Create your own Weapon thread, but I suddenly thought that this might be better for imagination's sake.

If you can think of any skills you'd like to see in the game, post 'em here!

I've got some:

Fast Feet - You sprint/walk faster
Pack Hoarder - Can carry 1 page of extra stuff
BBQ Champion - Every successful Well Done Steak makes 2, not 1

I would love to see the Spirit Wolf skill from Frontier...

But lets see what I can come up with myself. Lets try not to be too overpowered here like in the old weapon thread.

Spirit Link +1/+2: Works similar to wide area, but instead any damage that you recieve would be lessened and divided up among team mates in the same area as you. Will never give out enough damage to kill your team.

Dragon Slayer: When fighting an Elder Dragon, you recieve a 1.1x buff to attack and defense , and +20% affinity. requires 15 points to activate.

Hammerman: Increases hammer damage by 5%, Stun value by 10%, gives marathon runner, gives constitution +2. Instead will give attack down large/ -30% affinity/blunt edge/ shlow sharpener to any weapon that is not a hammer.

ooh, i like this thread. heres a few.

Enraged God - +20 Psychotic - When your life hits 0 for the 3rd death, you will get a felyne moxie affect, regain your life to 150, stamina to 150, and you gain temporary invincibility and a 1500 attack boost for 1 minute. After that, you go back to normal but your health is dropped to 25, and stamina to 25. (only available on a certain armor)

Hero - +15 Savior - All healing items are now 1.25% multiplied, and all minion monster cower in fear from you and run away from the area.

Reckless Leader - +10 Leadership - Your attack is cut by 200 points but you gain 100% affinity at 30%- life. (Cannot be stacked with Heroics or Adrenaline)

Dead Eye - +15 Sniper - Absolutly no recoil, deviation, and fastest reload time. (only available on a specific armor)

The Fallen - +10 Teamwork - When a teamate falls in battle, you gain an attack boost equivelant to Attack Up Large for 3 minutes.

Illusion Blade- For every slash attack that you unleash, a crescent wave of energy is fired from the blade. +10 shoots it in a 20 foot radius, +15 shoots it in an unlimited radius. The farther away you are from the monster the higher your affinity is. With an increase of 25% for every two feet. Note: Only for GS SnS DS LS and SA.

Light Armor-Monsters are damaged when they touch you. 900 attack point for +10, 2000 attack points for +15.

Grim Hand
- For every attack that a monster lands there is a chance of instant death for them. +10 = 1/200 +15 = 1/99.
The opposite is true as well. -10 = 1/150 chance of you dying, -15 = 1/99 chance of you dying.

Light armor / negation+10, sightly reduce stager
heavy armor / negation+15, heavly reduce stager
the coward / coward+10, half stamina use during panic run
vampire / absorber+15, each attack got 5% chance of recovery 3% of your damage done into hp
reverse shield / switching+20, switch your attack and defense status
early swordman / ewening+20, increase stun rate of your sword'n shield based on how much you used this weapon (+0,1% stun ratio every 100 use)
awakening swordman / awakening+20, decrease the charge time of your great sword, based on how much you used this weapon (1% reduction each 100 use)
ancient samurai / ancient+20, increase your long sword spirit combo damage, based on how much you used this weapon (0,3% damage every 100 use)
the blacksmith / hollengeren+20, increase damage on your hammer, based on how much you used this weapon (+0,2% every 100 use)
the ironwallman / kwanda+20, reduce the walking distance when using the lance shield bash, based on how much you used this weapon (-1% lenght each 100 use)
the sniper / ranger+20, decrease reloading and recoils with bowgun, based on how much you used this weapon (- 0,1% reloading/recoil every 100 use)

@Bold: How so? It doesn't increase damage in any way, so I don't see how they would interfere with each other.

@Italics: This is semi-overpowered.

@Unedrlined: This seems like a good idea, but don't you think that 1500 ATP is a little exaggerated? And is your MAX HP dropped to 25 or just your HP?

More harebrained skills:


Groove Time
- Special/rare skill that is Hunting Horn exclusive. Basically it allows you to play a melody that all monsters in the game(including Fatalis) dance to. At +10 every monster that is below three carves does a dance and at +15 every monster that has four and higher carves does a dance. Every monster has a different dance, for instance Lao-Shan Lung does an Irish jig. Gypceros does the robot...

Gigas Trapper
-Enhances any and all of the traps, for instance with this skill gemmed to +15 you can trap a Lao-Shan Lung(as he does the river dance of course...)

Pied Pipper-Like the Qurupeco you can summon other monsters with this skill while using a flute. +10 allows you to summon monsters like Yian Garuga and Gypceros. +15 Allows you to summon monsters like Diablos and Uragaan.

Hammerman may be a little overpowered, but then again, kidkaos did throw out some retarded huge attack buffs, At least hammerman has a huge negative associated to if your not using a hammer(making it impossible to use that specific armor set with any other weapon, and also hard to gem in) Also, a 5% boost to a hammer that has less then 1000 raw, is weaker then attack up large. (1000 raw hammer gives 50, while attack up large gives 52 to all hammers, holy shit there is only 1 good hammer with over 1000 raw, devil's crush)

Your express (hi) can boost the attack speed of every weapon, making you land many more hits faster, which also gives you more time to avoid attacks because your not stuck in the attack animation. I find that pretty overpowered.

Grim hand is probably the most overpowered one so far (1% effects occure pretty frequently, similar to the 2% drop rates for gems and such, also makes any speed run entirely based on if the monster instantly dies)

This is in the Tri boards, why do we have skills for weapons and monsters that are not in MHTri? (hunting horn, fatalis, lao-shan lung, yian garuga etc)

mad chemist- increses switch axe phial boosts ex: ele and powa give 1.35 muliplier and the drgn, para give 75 points added to that it already gave

K.O master- all atks have stun value with a hammer like mhp3 will have( since tri doesnt have this implemented yet)

Watchfull eye- (for all weapons) 10pnts causes ur weapon to only knock people over 50% of the time, while 15pnts give a 100% chance of not knocking people over with ur atks.

Tag Team - when your team mate receive enought damage to die, instead of dying he stay at 1hp and u receive the rest of the dammage +10 to active

Noob Cancel (Hi)-Other player who die 2 times for the day is unable to play with you unless he is in your friend list.

Noob Resist +20-Any stupid question asked by players in the chat room will be filtered off and he will get kick out of the city.

Negate Noobs- Player who is about to die will get kick out of the city

Felyne Headbutt- With this, you are able to use the signature move from Raiden in Mortal Combat. Make a monster fly across the screen with you.

Actually I would like to see some improvement in the following skills

Throw-Increase the duration of throw items, dung bomb, paintball, flashbomb, sonic bomb, farcaster invulnerability time.

Heat Cancel(Hi)-Fireproof, Negate Terrain and Negate Heat

Cold Cancel(Hi)-Iceproof, Negate Snow Status, and Negate Cold

Knockout-Increase KO status by 10%

Pacifier-Each attack will reduce the monster duration of rage mode.

Survival-Reduce your HP to 1 when your HP reach zero, send you back instantly to base camp, will only be reactivated after 8 minutes of activating this skill.

Counter Blow-+5 Attack for every 10 HP lost. (Base Attack Modifier)

Toughen-+5 Defense for every 10 HP lost.



In addition, here are other suggestion, not armor skills related.

Oil S ammo - cover a monster with oil, reduce its resistance to fire per shot, use a fire S to cause the monster to burst into flames and burn for a peroid of time.

Drench S ammo - cover a monster with water, reduce its resistance to lightning per shot, use a thunder S to cause the monster to paralyse the monster and cause a shock mode, increasing its chance to be paralyse/KO (remeber CLUST/CRAIG can also cause KO values, this would be nice)

Snow S ammo - cover a monster with snow, reduce its resistance to ice shot, use an Ice S to cause the monster to froze and cover in snow, monster moment will slow down for a peroid of time.

Clust shots don't cause stun value.

Heres a new skill I thought of
Unlock Rapid: This skill would be like awaken, takes 15 points to activate and will enable your gun to rapidfire a shot if the Barrel on your gun does not already have a rapidfire attack.

I think there is tons of useless skill in MH that need some rework, like autotracker, heat/cold cancel, stun, etc.
They should be merge into other skill rather than being a single skill.

Taunt could also be a skill also.

Taunt-Improve the chance that a monster will come to your area, also increase the chance that a monster will attack you.

Sneak-Decrease the chance that a secondary monster will enter the area while you are fighting, also decrease the chance a monster will attack you and monster that see you the first time will not be alerted easily.

Capture Guru-Inaddtion to show that a monster is dying, that would be a ping to alert the hunter that he is dying.

The "ping" could be confused with a regular ping.

plus taunt is a negative skill so attracting a monster to ur area does not sound like a negative, lol.
some more skills I thought of

team morale(15pnts)-for each teammate in the same area as u while in combat status( monster eye symbol nxt to ur name) for each person add 25 def pnts to ur status.

trap master(20pnts)-a combination of trap guru and the skill that increases trap placing speed also adds 10 sec to trapping effect on a monster.
