I would recommend a hammer and without flash, you can only depend on the last triplepound strike to hit. Start spamming Triangle when he's got his back to you, when he turns you can hit him. Works for me, but this is based mostly on luck~

Im my experience (approaching 800 Los, a good 600 of them Descendants of the King Sol's... and ONE GAWDDAHM HVNLY aside from that ONE sky ticket) Hammer's destroy's Sol Los. When KO'd, you get two free triple pounds. Massive damage. I LS'd before Hammer, but that grew tiresome. Only good for wing shots IMO.

I always bring Full Narga X (I wear what I like, regardless of skills. Narga S is my favorite set, but OHKO doesn't suit me, so I bring X) and Diablos Chaos Order. I don't remember if it has natural purple, but I didn't have Sharpness+1. Evade+2 helps, and Distance helps as well. I gem in trap master, since I am no longer effing around with Los. Can bring traps to hurt, and to cap. Though I don't use them, bombs get placed faster as well.

Anywho, Los is the same basic monster no matter rank or color. It may get 'smarter' and by that I mean more unpredictable, but it is still restricted to the attacks Capcom gave it. Once you learn what actions mean what (ie double pivot = facing you, jump into the air, does ariel attack, must come down on the same spot) just attack when you KNOW he's not gonna do another attack. ie between attacks.

a few very good tip for any melee user;
1) when los fly staying directly under him is Always safe, you can stand just out of his shadow don't worry.
2) when he does any aerial attacks he will always turn to a target 1st, meaning he will always aim for you until he finishes his move. afterwhich the direction he is facing is "locked", this is when you want to exploit it by timing your attack and position at the body part that you want to hit when it lands. meaning as he lands his head will always be facing from the center of his shadow towards you, and his tail will be at the other side of his shadow.

If one wished to Bow Silver Rathalos, would it be best to Pierce through the Wings, Rapid on the Wings, or Rapid on the head? Also, would a Raw Bow or a Thunder Bow be recommended?

neither, use, dang, i forget it. spread. you wanna use spread on the wings.

And yeah, realy, you can use either.

My recommendations:

Raw Bow: HR9 Black fata bow
Element Bow: Khezu Thunder Bow

The khezu bow from my experience of fighting silver. i have killed it 3 times with that bow. Very nice. been a while but im sure black fata revolves on rapid. Either way, hit the wings. You really can use any of the three.

Use:

Peirce - If you feel really comfortable with quick charge releasing. Meaning, the moment it gets to the charge you want, you can release it because you already aiming for the wings. You will also have to be on his sides much more to go through both wings.

Rapid - Id recommend this or spread. Peirce is probably the best for other monsters but because of the way this fight goes on, it wont be as effective. You can hold this in and get it just right by quickly aiming and all the arrows wll hit the designated spot. Rather than if you missed and only hit the tip of the wing wither peirce = 1 hit. But this would hit it with all of them no matter what.

Spread - Very good and easy to use on los/ian. Can hit bother wings with one shot. A good thing about this is you can quick release it and almost always hit the monster.

I really don't like the idea of flashing when you first fight a monster but try it if you're that desperate. If you're gunning it, you will need flashbombs to get those extra hits to kill it. I won't recommend hammering for meleeing it because it seems you're not too comfortable with it. Use wailing cleaver shin of course amazing thunder ls and play the strategy that goes like this when it fireballs use O,/\ then he should be finished and back away with a swish attack. if you really wanna get the hits in flash him every time he rages, then go Spirit sword spam on the wings. When Los charges he usually falls, if your close chase him and hit the wings. When he's flying stay under him, heal, sharpen, whatever you need to do. Then when he's landing go do /\ slashes on the wings, if he falls when you did that, two spirit sword slashes then swish back or roll. Try what I said, it might work.

there are a lot of good scatter 5 bows, but can't figure out which one to use...

You can always forgo Capacity Up, but access to lv4 charge for shot type variety is imo always useful.

Well, any of those would be good. i personally used the khezu one when i fought it. with the khezu, you wont need capacity up. making it so that your armor doesnt have to revolve around your weapon. there is an Akantor/HR9AzureLos mix that will give HGE, Crit eye +2 and something else i believe. Use Athena's ASS. Or possibly browse devils thread. i know a really nice adrenaline +2 set. dont use heroics. the health difference and the dps difference isnt worth it. not when bowing los.

When I Bow Sil Los I just grab my strongest raw Rapid Bow (at the moment it's Dragonbow Chaos), run circles around him and Rapid the legs and tail. Works like a charm.
