I got the game about 2 months or so ago, played it for a little bit, and then got a job, and haven't really had too much time to play. Haven't played in a month, got 2-4 hours a night & days off to play. Didn't get too far into the game, only like level 2, and not that far into single player. Don't really know too many people. or anyone that is around my level. What would be a good way to come back into the game? Looking to get back to it, since it's the only game I own (period. haha) Would love to hook up with some people, still need to get a mic for chatting.

Well first I suggest you complete single player, or at least get to like 4* quests before you go online. It's good to know what you're up against before you start playing with other people. By that time you'll know (somewhat) how to fight most monsters, and have decent equipment before you go online. About you getting a mic for chatting, please tell me you don't plan on getting WiiSpeak. That thing blows ass for three reasons. One: None of the output sounds clear, Two: I've heard it's a pain in the ass to set up, and Three: You have to be friends with someone to even chat with them. Also, nobody even has it so you would have almost nobody to talk to. Just get a good headset or pc microphone and use Skype or Ventrilo to talk to other hunters.

Sure thing, sounds like a plan. Wasn't sure if I should be hopping into the online or what, thanks for the tip. And no way would I ever spend money on WiiSpeak, haha, I've heard nothing but bad things about it. I was just planning on getting a USB headset & using a chat client. Thanks for the heads-up though :P

Edit: Would you suggest me buy the classic controller? Does that make maneuvering a little easier, or is there not much of a difference between that and the nun-chuck or whatever.

Yes, definitely get a Classic Controller Pro. If you've played any of the other MH games, then using the Wii Remote+Nunchuk will probably be frustrating for you.

I don't feel quite like that with the Wiimote and nunchuck...then again I rarely use a lance...this bears further study, it does...

Only thing I've really used is sword & shield. Didn't really have the patience for great sword, and haven't tried anything else :\

SnS is probably the best weapon for a "beginner" like yourself, so good choice. You move quickly, you can block, you can dodge, and you can use items without sheathing. I'd recommend trying to get some armor with elemental attack up (lagi) or status attack (gigi) to maximize the SnS's potential. Alternatively: evasion, hearing protect, gaurd + are good skills to shoot for. Good luck, have fun.

Sure thing, thanks for the tips. So far I'm on the 'Capture Great Jaggi' mission, all I've got is Jaggi hide armor I think it is. Not too sure on how to get better armor...

The very same way you got the Jaggi armor: Fight monsters, skin 'em, and make the new set. :D
Some quests you do are 'Key' quests. These unlock more quests to do, allowing you access to better armor and weapons.

Alright, thanks. Going to capture Great Jaggi and then try Quarupecu or whatever, seems tough to beat.

Peco can be difficult at first, but you'll learn. When he clacks his flints together, keep moving in a circle, rolling if need be. Extra balls points if you just roll between his legs. He shouldn't hit you either way.

The main issue comes from him calling for help. If you have sonic bombs, the instant that sac on his throat opens, throw it.

If not, you need to stagger him, quick. Breaking the beak gives you extra time to react.

I'll give that a shot. Last time I fought him, I hadn't a clue what I needed to do.

It is actually what makes monster hunter great.

When your starting out, make sure you complete any armor set you start unless you know what skills your going for in a mixed set. You cant waste materials, and you cant waste equipment.

NEVER SELL EQUIPMENT IF YOU CANT BUY ANOTHER ONE. NEVER. No matter how much money you need, no matter how much materials you can "waste", don't sell equipment unless it is purchasable. It isnt worth it when you end up wanting to make a jjinn, but you sold your qurupeco chopper which needed a mega demondrug to make.

Take the time to keep your equipment level appropriate. Don't go into rathalos with alloy armor. Go in with something in the same star rating of monsters in quests if you need a range to stay in.

Do offline first. Its alot easier to atleast get to 4th star (after gobul I believe) before you start online then going in there with your 1500z from the start not being able to buy any armor/weapons without compromising. People expect you to be somewhat decent at the monster your fighting. if its your first time, although it is good experience, it isn't fair for your teammates.

Stick to 1-3 weapon types early game. you cant afford to waste materials on multiple weapons and expect them all to be level appropriate unless you feel like grinding.

Thats my 2 cents... more like 15 dollars worth. Have a good hunt. :D

Thanks, alot of good things to remember. I've been working my way through the storyline, getting better armor and what not.

Just been looking for websites with information that would help make me a better hunter. So far I've got the Wiki, Divinewh, and Gamefaqs for Mh3.
