This is my second play through the game and decided to go with weapons I shunned in my previous game... i pretty much breezed through everything but teo. I dunno why but I really just want to Gunlance him badly but after a battery of failed attempts I thought of asking here for help. How exactly do you Gunlance this thing? Insta-charge always catches me even with evade+1 and I don't wanna turtle ~_~. I found videos on youtube but they turtle all the way making fight quite boring. Can anyone teach/show me how to Gunlance Teo the MANLY way? much thanks and appreciation.

My Equips:
Gun-Chariot
Full Rath Soul U.

Skills:
Evade+1
HGE
RA+1

Get Guard+1 instead. It negates the residual damage and pushback when Teo does the WTFCharge, allowing you to do a turn-around-counter-poke to the tail.

Attack the head when you can but don't get too nit-picky; the fore-arms, belly, and tail all take good damage from cutting weapons.

So with guard+1, when exactly do I attack his head? I used to hammering his head and the only openings I see are after his explosions- I get 1 running stab (ala hammer super pound release timing), Fire breath- 1 stab for rage 2 stabs non-rage, and 1 very risky running stab as he turns around. Other than that I get paranoid of his insta-charge. i usually squeeze one stab on his side before he turns his face on me and start guarding or attempting to evade... and fail.

Attacking the head is independent of any armor skill, and yeah, it can be quite tedious to aim for. Remember that all of Teo's attacks can be blocked, so use that fact to your advantage. One opening I've always liked is *before* the explosions. Stab once or twice, take a step back, then prepare to block the incoming explosions.

You can even stand exactly by his belly or neck/mane, turn away from Teo, block the incoming explosions, then resume stabbing wherever. Of course, it's a bit risky if the explosions occur near his body, so you gotta be able to read where the explosions will occur.

When he's doing his fire breath, stab twice or thrice on the forearms. When the breath's now clearing your side, sidestep towards the head -> stab once or twice -> back hop or side step back to where you were to force Teo to turn towards you and give you time to prepare for whatever attack he'll do.

Attacking the sides a lot is fine imo; you don't really need to focus so much on the head. The belly and forearms take about 35% cutting damage. They receive 5% less cutting damage from the head and staggering on those parts doesn't net you the vulnerable wailing that Teo does when you do stagger via the head. However, all those cons are easily mitigated by the fact that Teo can do virtually nothing against you when you're at his sides. You can go stab-happy on the belly and fear no retribution - Teo's basically vulnerably wailing all throughout the match.

Teostra Roar only needs Earplugs to negate, you can level down the HGE.

Full Rath Soul U comes with HGE and I'm too lazy to search/make good armor combination on High Rank since I'm gonna replace them soon once on G-rank. Anyway gonna fight the urge to focus on the head. thanks for the tips, gonna post my progress later cause my brother's hogging the unit

if you wanted to dodge instead of block you could use a evade+2 and evade inc set which would see you sidestep away from the big area of affect that teo has with its charge due to its size. But I agree with Usul guarding all the way is the way forwards.

Hamsulkun's right, guard>evade against teo.

I usually do the unsheath attack+stab then sidestep off the side of his head (teos left/your right). It sets up for headlocking, cause if you get a flinch, just backhop and do it again.

Always chase when he jumps around cause he likes to space himself out to lolcharge and it usually leads to you getting combo'd.

Edit:kylol's video there does a good job

Guard+ has always been Evade+'s misunderstood older brother, always being ridiculed as a pansy, unmanly, and retarded.

Guard+: "Nobody understands me and sees what I can do! It's always evade, evade, evade!" /wrist

Guard+ needs muchos <3. :3

SUCCESS! my style was similar to kylol's vid but less aggressive. I managed to repel Teo and kill him with 27 mins left on the second round.

I'm not afraid to get hit, I'm afraid getting combo-ed cause of the gunlance's lack of mobility and my lack of experience in positioning my guard direction...I get hit in the back by the close explosions 30 percent of the time. Most of my hits came from Teo insta-charging after my weapon bounces of his horn/mane, Gunchariot has a very lousy blue sharpness so I found myself flashing teo or leaving the area just to sharpen.

I tried doing the quest on my other char with Narga X gemmed for Sharpness+1, the problem I had was Teo's scream, he often screams in the middle of my attack and he does it often, so yeah I found the guarding thing much easier.

And lol at the Guard vs Evade thing. I dunno, but backhopping through attacks make me giggle and makes the match ooze with awesomeness.

Gunlances: its long and hard, has good reach and not to mention its really sharp; you poke with it, make it pop, and ultimately let it explode on monster's faces when they go down after your continuous poking. Monsters literally scream and shudder at the sight of it. Gunlance: The weapon of choice for Real Men.
