well, thank you for enabling them.

the only problem is the size restriction, which is the only problem there should be regarding sigs.

the site has it set to restricted to 100 x 50. 100 accross, 50 up and down.

my own personal signature is one made by crossx i believe, i would have to go to the thread again and look. but cross and hayz both made their signatures the same size.

that being said, my signature is:

400 x 140, 400 accross, etc.

that being said, i also personally think signatures should be allowed to only go a little farther than that.

the max being about:

700 x 200.

that is almost deviltriggers signature size, which goes all the way accross the screen. well, most of the way.

1 image being allowed is fine. thats all you should have anyway. the other matter, im not sure if this applies to this forum as i forgot to check, is the character limit. there was one in the old forum.

id say a good character limit is about 300 characters. i constantly found myself running out of character space when making my sig a link to my custom thread.

Erm, i just found a problem in it so i disabled it again till i have the time to fix it.

As for bigger sigs, Adelaine had already said that it will not go bigger than the current size we set since old minegarde days.

im sorry i had to go and wasnt around for anyones responses on the shoutbox. as stated before, the old minegarde allowed slightly smaller, it was like 135 verticle, and around 700 horizontal. That was roughly, repeat, roughly, the total size of the signatures on the old forum. i know this because my signature never went all the way down, it always got cut off at the bottom by a little. and deviltriggers went 700 accross and was allowed on the forum.

that being said,
140 x 700 total size
300 character limit (Or about 4 lines aloud)
HTML aloud, just tell people not to use marquees

that was about what was aloud on the old forums. editied a little to make linking and URLs easier.

Hmmm perhaps the previous configuration of the sig bypass the current standard.

I will change the size of my sig once i got access to image editor.

The old image size for signatures was 120px high. I remember testing this a lot to get mine working right. I think that was plenty enough space, I don't see why we'd need more than 150. I think it's a little much if the signature takes up more space than the post itself, and it's stupid if it's taller than the avatar area.

Giving one line of text, the block of space that a signature goes in takes up approximately 1059 x 275 on my 16:9 monitor running at 1366 x 768 and fullscreen with Firefox. So 700 wide would work fine for me, but if someone has a small screen resolution or prefers to run their browser in a smaller window, it will stretch the layout for them and they'll have to scroll horizontally to read the text. A bit of a bother.

I think 400 x 150 is all we'd ever need. Plenty of room, don't have to worry about it stretching the layout, and it won't become an eyesore. It's up to the admins though. If they feel 100 x 150 is a good size that won't detract from the posts, then I'll just make a sig that fits that limit. They're meant to be a little image or block of text that identifies you and shows personality, not an art canvas that gets the whole attention.

As for allowing things like HTML tags, that can get a bit iffy. It's not just to avoid annoying tags like marquee or blink, but also to avoid security issues. There are HTML tags that can create security vulnerabilities not just for the forum, but for users too. Now the regular forum tags I'm alright with, we'll just have to make sure people don't use certain ones, like marquee or spoilers.

indeed, marquee and spoilers ftl. but dude, as for the screen size in paragraph two. Simply do this:

Hold the control button on your keyboard and scroll with wheel on mouse. It will change the zoom of the screen. for those without scroll wheel, go to:

view>zoom> and set it to one where the screen isnt needed to be scrolled to the left or right.

very simple to fix that.

Also, i believe the signature shows someones personality. who they are. Its impossible to portray whats in my signature in a 100 x 150 sig and still have someone understand about me. i mean, look at all of us who have larger sigs. Does that not portray something about us that would be much harder to show if it was in a 100x150 sig?
