Akantor help? Gunlance'ing him

Hello i am on the nekoht akantor quest and i am using full ceanataur u and the gun chariot, gemmed for attack up medium, this in total gives me :

Attack up medium
Reckless abandon +1
Sharp sword
Health -10

I am very new to the gunlance, and am having trouble killing him.. On my second try i fought him without dieng until there was 25 minutes left, when i ran out of mega potions (Brought ten and mats to make ten more) and died and then with no potions left died on my last two tries and failed the mission. I had both his horns broken, one of his sets of claws broken, and he had gone into rage i think more then five or six times by then... Any tips on gunlanceing him? I stand and block his tail swipe but it still does alot of damage to me..

Easy way: Hug his right leg (to your left) then stabbity-stab, swing-swing-swing when he's recovering from his attack. All attacks that could possibly hit you here is avoided by just not being directly in front of said leg.

And as always, don't be too aggressive.

What weapon do you use often btw?

I suggest hammering that face and that leg Usulol mentioned. That's how I solo Uka, anyway.

As for Akantor, I GL most of the time, attacking when he's not. When he is, I block or Superman dive.

I suggest getting Azure Lao armor instead. Or Narga for evade.

You would need 1 weapon slot in order to remove the -10 Health. 3 Strength Jewel, 3 Celebrity Jewel and 1 Expert Jewel.

Or you can go for a mix-set so you won't need any weapon slot.

OR you could join the Bowgun army, get yourself a narga hbg with an evade dist inc/Pierce up set and pierce him to death...thats what i do, works wonders and u can break the spikes way easier than melee weapons

Trip -> lance charge does the same thing, and you don't even have the threat of Akantor charging at you with that fat ass of his. :3

10 kelbi horns + 10 Immunizer = 10 ancient potions ftw.
That and max your defense if you can. Also mega juice helps.

I have like full silver rathalos armor and i still cannot kill him, as soon as he goes into rage i'm done for...
I think i just give up today I have tried maybe 20 times, watched over 50 videos nothing helps...
