Hey guys, it's Ashos, finally back to Monster Hunter lol. So I picked up Tri finally, and I am a bit confused with the Bowguns now, the whole Stock/Barrel/Frame thing confuses me with shots, and i've not been able to find any good Bowgun upgrades yet. I've been using a Heavy Bowgun, the first one actually, named Heavy Bowgun, lol. It fires Clust and Crag, which is one reason I keep it around, and no other guns I've seen could fire anything I like yet. I've killed everything up to the Lagiacrus kill, not repel mission, and I'm to the point where I think I need a bit of help to improve my weapon.
Does anyone know or recommend any low rank good guns? Also, which is the best here, Heavy, Medium, or Light BG's? Cause I rarely see anyone using Heavy for some reason. Thank you guys for the help. ;D

Well, I used Heavy and Medium all the time, folding frames most of the time.

Good low rank ones? well, you could just go with the completely overused Jaggid Fire/Barrozooka/Tropeco Gun. pretty powerful short range rapidfire pierce 2 gun.

Wouldn't my damage get a big disadvantage without the use of Clust and Crag? And also, Isn't Rapidfire bad on Tri? Like each shot is 60% damage right?

Crags and clusts dont really do that amazing damage to begin with.

The rapid fire is based off of the shot type. Elemental shots are 60%, rapidfire is a bit higher but im far too lazy to search vampirecosmonauts tri guide for it.

Also, with pierce you want to get hyper short range, so that each of the hits will hit the same hitzone that you aimed at for massive damage.

I see, but close range with pierce? I thought it built damage if you are a good range away?

When your gun range is shorter, the distance for 1.5x damage multiplyer changes to be closer to the enemy, also the individual hits of the pierce shot come closer to each other.

Ohhhh I see. Thank you. Also, are Elemental shots still potent in this game like MHFU?

And one last question, what is a good armor set pre-lagiacrus you recommend, i'm in full Rhenoplos now. ;pp

Elemental shots are still pretty good, seeing as their damage scales based on your RAW. fire shots are 45% of your raw applied as fire element, thunder/ice/water are 3 hits of 15%. dragon is 5 hits of 64 element.

Elemental shots are badass with adrenaline +2 and elemental attack up. 1.3x and 1.2x. HELLS YEAH.

Armour sets for before lagiacrus... um... personally I used Rathian as my general gunner set untill I got into high rank.

Ah, I saw Rathian and I didn't like it too well. I just really want a set with some damage buffs, or shot improvers. I appreciate all the help man!<3

Well, before lagiacrus, you could get attack up with Jaggi, or expert with Alloy. I think that might be it until the lagiacrus armour.

Probably can get adrenaline with barroth aswell

To answer question as to what armor to get, I used Rathian, earplugs for a gunner can save your life, and Health+50 and Fire Res+20 (I assume you'll gem to get these) are really useful. After that, Lagiacrus will of course be what you'll what you want to shoot for.

My opinion on the usefulness of Crag/Clust is that they are only useful against fire weak monster since it adds a bit of fire damage. I fought a couple Gigginox the other day with the maxed Poison Stinger and Heavy Bowgun barrel and it died in about 5clust 1, and 40 flaming shots (I think I sleep bombed it...) so on fire weak monsters it's useful. Wyvernfire also adds fire damage and is freakin' powerful.

As to what parts to look into, you'll want to get Poison Stinger or Agnablaster if you want to deal high damage. The best stock at low rank (In my opinion) by far is the Rathling stock. It shoots Dragon shots as well as (I THINK) WyvernFire lvl. 3 (If not, then lvl. 2). The barrels should just tailor to what monster you're fighting.

pierce and/or normal shots are the way to go on tri!

http://www.gamefaqs....-tri/faqs/59978 check the vampire cosmonaut guide for gunning, pick a low rank gun and armour from list given on that website and u should be fine

latter on game u will get the super massive normal s spamm set :) (critical eye +3 , normal s boost, normal s all up, combination pro) for a total of 499 normal s shots per quest and shooting 13 bullets b4 reloading :)
