Hi guys. I'm not really sure if I should post this elsewhere but im kinda in dire need of help. :/

I could use some advice on Nekohts' Rank 9 Quest 2 Black Gravios (forgot the name.).
Maybe its just me but I can handle pretty much any beast except that Damned Black Gravios.
I can usually capture/kill one of them, but then I get owned by the second one with a random punishing combo. ._.

I mainly use Greatswords, but I don't really mind branching out to other classes as long as they aren't ranged classes. :3 sorry guys

My equipment is:

Lacerator Blade
Tigrex Helm S
Tigrex Mail S
Tigrex Vambraces S
Tigrex Tasset S
Tigrex Greaves S

and I've decorated Health +30 on top of the usual skills, and I've unskilled/whatever Demonic Protecion.

I don't think its the equipment, but please give advice anyway.

Thanks guys.

Can you kill a single Black Gravios? If so, I suggest you gem in Bomber skill and let the LBB+ rip through the one of them.

Bomber skill?

and I usually take 5 Small Barrel Bombs+ , 3 Barrel Bombs and 2 Barrel Bombs+ and It doesn't really seem to damage him that much :/, btw it takes me about 20-30 minutes to kill one of them ._.

Bring combines for LBB+. I can't really say how much HP they have, but with 10~ LBB+ w/ Bomber you could destroy a low-rank Black Gravios without a single weapon attack. So I think it's quite plausible to kill a high-rank, lowered-HP Black Grav with LBB+ w/ Bomber, or at least put it into capture level.

You can also trap them for easy hits with the bombs and a 3 lvl charge with the GS once or twice.

Well, I would seriously consider HBG despite the fact you mentioned you did not use ranged weapons. Lao Shang's HBG is very very very nice >=)

Any HBG capable of shooting water shots at rarity 9 should do just fine though.

Armor Suggestions (Sorry I only know the Japanese for these)

Red Furufuru helm (yellow icon one for melee)
YanGarurugaS (For Gunners, blue icon color)
NarugaArmPieces(Yellow Icon ones not S for gunners)
Red Furu Waist piece (yellow icon color for gunners)
Naruga Legs (yellow icon once again for gunners)

Use jewels to boost dodge and earplugs and you will be one tough Mofo to take down. In fact, exactly 47 water rounds from Lao's gun will down one Gravimos Ashu and 43 pierce rounds at level 3 will down another one. So yeah...there you go....easy peezee. The entire run should take about 12 minutes total.

Too bad he's still on high rank and doesn't have access to everything you just mentioned.

@lost venom - if you dont want gunning gravios, equipped an armor with evade, sharpsword, (hge) optional or any other skill you want. take your strongest water DS with you, stay under its belly when grav's using tail whip, evade during hip check, always stay behind to avoid its roar and fire beam combo, you still had a lot of time to escape when it turns to face you. if you can predict its farts be sure to keep your distance and demonize with you had a chance to go inside. if you had a hard time slashing grav's stomach bring all your traps and combining materials. with this strategy you can kill grav in 10-15 minutes. this is the strategy i used when im farming for grav,s heavenly regular and black.. :D :D

hope this helps..

And apparently, he can deal with a Black Grav. It's TWO Black Gravs he's having trouble with.

I would suggesting Gunlancing it. With any Spread 3 Gunlance at high rank and lots of bombs you could easily break both of their chest twice and deal massive damage to them.

Armor skills are not that important but if you could any of these skills it would be helpful: Guard Inc, Gunnery King, Sharpness+1, Bomber.

Your inventory could be something like this:

Quote

  • 2 Large Barrel-Bomb+
  • 3 Large Barrel-Bomb
  • 10 Knife Mackerel
  • 10 Small Barrel-Bomb
  • 5 Small Barrel-Bomb+
  • 10 Large Barrel
  • 10 Gunpowder (Or 20*)
  • 10 Med Monster Bone (Optional*)
  • 10 Ivy (Optional*)

  • Book of Combo 1-4
  • Alchemy Guide (Optional*)
  • Power/Armor Charm/Talon (Optional)
  • Potion, Cold Drink, etc.

    *If you have Alchemy Guide.

Felyne Gunpowder will be helpful if you can get it. You can omit Knife Mackerel if you do.

And finally a tip:

Quote

A good way to avoid fighting both of them at the same time is first find one of the Black Gravios, paintball it, then look for the other one and paintball it as well. This way you can look out for when the other one which you are not fighting changes area. Monsters will tend to stay in the area longer if they notices you.

Reason for edit: Gunnery Master to Gunnery King.

D: blue, iirc you need up to Gunnery King to kick up the shelling powers.

I remember having a Hermitaur U mix-match that can make Guard Inc, Sharp Sword, Bomber set or something that you can get in high rank. I forget tho. :\

Hidden Bow works wonders too, You can get Full Dark Akantor BEFORE the Dual Black Grav Quest (As it isn't needed to unlock the urgent)
That Dark Akantor Set, Armor Stone it to as full as you can, and then just Peirce / Rapid (Charge level 3) one of them to death, if the other comes into the area, just run away, be sure to paint the one you're targeting, and then let either one move to a different area. (That is what I did...)

If that doesn't work, Bomb one of the Grav's to death, then pick the other one off slowly... or quickly if you know how.
(Just gotta watch out for the Black Smoke after some of the Beam attacks.

Hi Guys, I finally made it :P

With a little help from all of you of course :P

I used my GS :3 and got myself 10 x Gunpowder, 10 x Large Barrel & 10 x Scatterfish. And a hell lot of potions :P

I just LBB+ed the first one, after that, I used my cat as bait, and when he bowed down to fire his beam, I move to his back and mashed at his tail. When the tail came off, I just mashed at his feet. couple of minutes later he was limping, first one captured :3 15 minutes gone.
I quess I got a little bit lucky with the second one, as it was a Gold Crown Mini one :P (or whatever you call it). Did the same with with his tail, and after that, i just took him on slowly and careful. after 38 minutes, I captured him with a pitfall :D

A lttle advice for GS users his to use Charges on him. If hes not in Rage mode, you can use your cat to distract him and after firing a beam you usually can get a free lvl 3 Charge on him. Its the same for a hipcheck. Just walk around him, and before he turns to you can send lvl 3 Charge his way :3

yay. :3

probably runs out of health potions by the time he takes on the 2nd.

do you bring/combine potion and honey to get another 10 megapotions?

bring also herbs and blue mushrooms.

and stay away from those fire farts! go for the wings to be safe if you're a sword user.

but really, range weapons pwns the big guys. you should learn to use them.

EDIT: well i guess you don't need anymore advice.
