Gs with the good armor is te best ( i think) but lance is not bad .

I went with LS, mostly because I like the mobility and range, plus there are lots of different element choices and I like to exploit type weaknesses like a fiend. However, since I like to out-fight my gear (trying with mixed success to use rare-4 Rathalos set against Nekoht Nargacuga urgent atm), whenever I have too much trouble I just switch to a lance. It takes me forever to kill with it because I'm nowhere near as used to it as LS, but it gets the job done.
Current favorites are:
LS - Saber (It looks alright, a little too purplish for my taste, but it's my best fire weapon and tied for highest base damage, among the weapons that I have, with Black Scythe).
Lance - Tiger Stinger (Looks badass, and it took me forever to get farming all those Tigrex. Blue sharpness is great and the attack is awesome. I love this weapon).
I also think the Black Bow looks cool but I just hate using it against anything, it's difficult to aim and doesn't do a terrible lot of damage because I suck with it (similar to the lance).

For me its ds forever...bt sometimes bow and hammer,"never use lbg,hbg".

I vote Gunlance. It's always been my favourite (if not the most effective at times *cough*Plesioth*cough*) but I had started using Hammers a lot more in MHFU.
Unfortunately, using a gunlance in MHP3rd seems to make everyone frown on you because of the whole auto-guard + reload defence thing... Not everyone uses auto-guard with their gunlances!
Favourite Gunlance in MHFU would have to be the Gun Chariot, followed by the Pop Corn
